MRSpivey Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 Well... I've got several Mods in process but the one I'm fully doing on my own is a Hammond 1590BBK dual MOSFET dual 900 mAh LiPo with dual battery meters to monitor each cell pack. It's called the Pheonix since I'm using a lot of spare parts on hand to make it. I'm still waiting on the battery meters and a dual Schottky diode to come in the mail. This beast will be capable of 30 Amps continuous current. Below is the case after laser etching.

Walt Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Wow, a lot simpler that I expected. Definitely going to be a powerhouse.
MRSpivey Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 Yep... I'm going to need to run quad 28 Ga Kanthal coils in the atomizer (4 mm diameter 11 wraps each). Thinking it will need to be in my Temple 30 mm RDA which has tons of air flow.
Squid Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Where did you source the 3s LiPo's? I was not aware that there are any out there that small. Unless that box is a lot bigger than it looks.
MRSpivey Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 By running them in parallel you basically have a 60C 1,800 mAh battery.

MRSpivey Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 Well... I spent time in the man cave (AKA garage) and worked on the Phoenix Mod a bit. Put the magnets in the enclosure, soldered the MOSFETS together, and segregated parts into a box for it. Still waiting on two critical parts to arrive before I do the layout on the case and drill holes. I'm kinda stuck until I get those parts.
MRSpivey Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Well... I decided to have it be a dual function Mod. Unregulated and PWM.
MRSpivey Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 Well... I decided to have it be a dual function Mod. Unregulated and PWM. Corrected drawing (added a diode and simplified for those not electronically inclined.
MRSpivey Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Slow going... wife needs my attention. Happy wife, happy life. Wife unhappy long enough, you're unhappy with half your stuff.
MRSpivey Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Thanks. Going to put up a revised drawing. I ran out of room to put everything in it I wanted. So, I've gone to a three wire LED VM to act as a pilot (mod on) light reading 0.00 and relative atomizer voltage in PWM mode (and actual voltage in unregulated mode) when the fire button is pushed. The pilot LED had to be removed from play or the LED VM. Obviously conclusion for me.

So, I've gone to a three wire LED VM to act as a pilot (Mod on) light reading 0.00, provide a relative voltage (for adjusting) in PWM mode, and actual voltage in unregulated mode when the fire button is pushed. The pilot LED or the LED VM had to be removed from play. Obviously selection for me. Bye bye pilot (on indicator) LED.
MRSpivey Posted November 12, 2017 Author Posted November 12, 2017 A little rough but it will do its job. Walt 1
MRSpivey Posted November 12, 2017 Author Posted November 12, 2017 That is for adjusting the pulse duration of the 555 when in PWM mode.

I'm impressed for sure. Definitely not a beginner mod. First mod I've seen with user definable pulse width. Makes perfect sense however. Love it!!!
