There have been rumors that vaping is bad for you. What I dont understand is how FDA approved ingredients, VG PG flavoring and nicotine (all harmless) could magically turn bad when turned to vapor. That's like saying steam is bad for you but you should drink a lot of water. I'm half asleep so this probably sounds pretty off the wall and when I'm this tired I can't think straight nor make comparison. I may reiterate tomorrow...

I've been trying to come up with a good description of the difference in a Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage for my friends. It isn't easy to explain.

With either one you can change the amount of power to the coil.

If you use the volt setting, and you use a higher resistance coil (ohms), it will make a cooler vape, and use less power (watts) If you want to maintain the heat you had with the lower resistance coil, you will have to turn the volts up on the higher resistance coil.

With the watts setting. I set mine for example on 8.5 watts. The device will adjust the voltage as necessary to match the amount of resistance of the coil to maintain the 8.5 watts. This keeps my heat level fairly even no matter what tank (or resistance) I am running on the battery.

Of course there are many other variables that are involved such as top/bottom coil, type of liquid, dual/single coil, battery limitations, etc that can change your vape.

I like to think of it like a cruise control. I set the watts and forget it and let the chip in the MPV make all of the adjustments for me. Of course I run tanks that are very similar and work well at that setting.

I hope I have not confused you, and have all of my facts correct.

Sorry I didn't answer some of your other questions.

I have no experience with alibaba.com

The only VV or VW devices I have experience with is:

Ego style twist. I enjoyed them, but payed them forward when I got the following 2.

Innokin iTaste VV V3.0 seen here: https://www.vaportalkstore.../itaste-mod-silver.htm
I love this little device. It is tiny, but doesn't last too long. I use it for a pocket vape with a mini tank on it.

Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 seen here: https://www.vaportalkstore...itaste-mod-silver.htm
This is my daily use device with a Nautilus on top. Works great lasts all day, then some. If i forget to plug it in, it still goes!

I read a lot about the Provari, Vamo, Evic, and various box mods. I just have no experience with them.

    Good Luck!

Well, the term "mod" came from the original builds which were cobbled together from other pieces and parts... such as "modifying" a flashlight to handle a head with 510 threads, rather than a "bulb"... but the general consensus is, if the battery comes out, it's a MOD Many will also refer to an MVP or VV-V3 as a MOD, because they are variable voltage and/or wattage devices (I'm guilty of this too, sometimes, lol)... but they are sealed-battery devices.

You are correct... a MOD (mechanical MOD) does require a bit of knowledge of electricity, especially Ohm's Law, but if using factory coils with a tank (like an Aspire or Kanger) it's not much different than using a standard, static-voltage eGo. When you move up to building your own coils... Safety and Ohm's Law knowledge REALLY comes into play, because you tend to move well outside the sweet-spot of factory coil resistances (sub-ohms) because the battery can generally handle it.

    A Noobie's Guide to Batteries

While in the chat room one night, someone was asking if there was a guide for batteries. He was hearing all these battery numbers in the conversation, and not familiar enough to follow along. I decided to write this guide to help familiarize the noobs to all the batteries we use for mods.

All of the batteries we use are either 3.7volts or 3.0volts. There is however a 5volt battery used in the Mako Maksi, but it's not one of the popular batteries you frequently hear about, so I'll just concentrate this discussion on the 3 and 3.7volt varieties.

The 3.0volt batteries are primarily used in pairs for a total of 6.0volts for 6volt vaping, and single battery mods are 3.7volts. The 3.7volt batteries are usually only paired if the mod has a voltage regulator (adjustable or fixed) for consistency in voltage throughout battery life and load conditions. Now that you have a little background on how the batteries are used, let's try to make sense out of the numbering system.

The first 2 digits of the battery number indicate the dimension measuring across the battery. So a 10440 measures 10mm across, a 14500 measures 14mm across, and so forth, and the last 3 digits make reference to the length. For example the last 3 digits in a 14500 battery would suggest that the length would be 50.0mm long, but that would be for the unprotected version of the battery. The overcharge/overdischarge protection circuit will add between 2 and 3 mm to the length of the battery, so a 14500 is really 52.5mm long.

Aside from the physical size of the battery, there is something referred to as mah (milliamp hour) rating. This is a capacity rating of the battery, and indicates the amount of energy the battery can store. In other words, how long it will last between charges (more mah, more charge life). Physical size will affect mah ratings, and therefore smaller size batteries will typically have lower mah ratings. Some batteries are available in more than 1 mah rating.

Below is a listing of the more commonly used batteries in e-cigarette mods.

**This is not meant to be a complete list, so please don't shoot me of you know of a battery I didn't list.**

"MOD" by definition is one that takes a replaceable battery. Anything that takes an 18650 will be in the 1" diameter size, minimum, because the first two numbers determine the diameter of the battery, last set of numbers determine the length... A tube-mod that takes an 18xxx battery will be 22mm diameter (24.5mm = 1") at a bare minimum. The vast majority of MODs are mechanical, which means no circuitry, no regulation, no VV or VW capabilities. Now, there are some like the Innokin VTR or Tesla (VV) that are... but something like a Magneto is purely mechanical.

If you're wanting VV/VW, and still small, eGo-ish, perhaps you might find an Innokin VV V3 to your liking? If you want a rock-solid box-style, I highly recommend the Innokin MVP 2.0! If you just want VV, any of the 1100mAh or larger spinners/twists from Joyetech, Vision or Kanger will do very well (and what many of us here use daily as a go-to battery). I suggest the larger mAh VV batteries because they last longer and tend to be a little larger diameter than the 14mm standard eGo size.

I'm just now beginning to purchase 0 nic juice after working my way down from 24mg-ish. I spent my first 6 months with the 24mg, and dropped about 3mg every couple of months. The 3mg transitions were hardly noticeable until I went down to 0 nic (6mg is the lowest my local b&m offers aside from 0 nic). The transition from 6mg-0mg was a little rough, so I kept a 30mL of 6mg around juuust in case. Usually just dripping once or twice was enough to trick me into chilling the eff out about it.

Take it slow, and don't beat yourself up about it if you need to grab a higher strength juice every once in a while. Good luck! The reduction in throat irritation alone has made it worth it in my opinion.

Work for a bank and we see this 24/7!!!

Whatever free trial you see online, no matter what it is, even if you absolutely NEED IT. Don't.
    Just don't.
Exactly how he said. They'll charge you something stupid like 2.99 and the products either never show up or get there a month later when you're already subscribed and see 100-300$ being charged for the next shipment. Which either never shows up or takes forever to get there. Then the wheel keeps turning. The amount of fraud claims we put in are rediculous.

Now. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way. But anyone that is usually older than 40 are the ones who get caught. There probably was a lot of legitamate free trials 15-20 years ago but now they're practically all scams!
I guess younger generations have grown up with the internet and have seen so much b.s. Advertising online that they ignore it 99% of the time.

Either way it's not even an age issue whatsoever but it's a trend I've seen with substantial experience in the matter. I hate getting a call from a sweet 75 year old granny that thought she was getting a bunch of free cosmetics and now has to wait through an investigation to get her pension cheque back... Horrible!

Stick to reputable sites or ones that a friend suggests. Personally I never order something from somewhere online that I haven't had someone close to me order from before.

    Happy shopping!

Thing is Im north of the boarder. (montreal, canada)

The only issue there was pending more info was on airplanes. and basically the transportation law makers told the canadian airlines to decide for themselves if they would allow it on their planes or not.

    Tthere are no regulations yet.

From my understanding in the US it depends on the state. Some are saying "im not making a decision so do whatever you want" and other are saying " until its proven to be safe we dont want it around".

that being said... its still unregulated here. So i would like to have as many facts as possible before having the discussion, as I am actually the chairman of the health and safety comitee (as ironic as it sounds). haha!

Probably just the delivery system is a lot better.

Havent really chain vaped since I changed devices since this is exactly what I was trying to avoid. but probably just the water thing... usually 2 liters is what I would drink in a day and today im kicking it up to 3. it seems to be working!

    Thanks again!

I seriously doubt that the news print has any nic in it, that would be a huge liability for the manufacturer as nicotine can and is absorbed through the skin.

Just my opinion but I don't think trading one addiction to another is a good idea. Vaping is still so new that no long-term studies have been done to prove that it's totally safe. We former smokers of traditional cigarettes just know that it's less harmful than what we used to smoke before. I would never suggest to a non-smoker to take up vaping, it's still too new and we don't know if there are any long term negative effects that could occur later on.

As far as I'm aware, there are no flavors like news paper available. You'll find lots of fruit, candy, tobacco, bakery...you name it and you should be able to find it as long as the flavor is something that is ingested on a regular basis -- unlike news paper. Sorry!
