like a lot of the people here, I am a stockpiler.  I wouldn't go as far as prepper, but I am always "prepared".  I have a little over 20 mods that I have collected over the last 2 years.  I also have nearly 2 liters of 100mg/ml of nicotine.  I don't have too many tanks, probably only 10 or so.  All of the tanks I have are rebuildable.  I am not panicking yet, but I am picking up things as I find them on sale.

As Jason said there is the fact that these regs will affect everyone differently. Me, personally, I'm set for a very long time. It is the new vapers and the ones still smoking and want to quit that will be done the most harm. I do have hope, but I must look at a more realistic view. Ever here the old saying "Hope for the best and plan for the worst", That would apply here.

I tend to agree with you.  I don't think this is the end of vaping as we know it.  I am optimistic that most of us, who have been doing it a while, will be able to continue, at least for the next 2 years.
I am also optimistic because a lot can change in 2 years.  I think with support of vaping organizations we could possibly see some changes.

The groups I am concerned about are people who are just starting to vape, or those who are still smoking, who want to quit.  The regulations could severely hamper their ability to keep/start vaping.
I am also concerned for small businesses like @Compenstine 's  He will virtually be put out of business overnight just because it will be cost prohibitive for him to supply us with great products. ( I do think his DIY advice and services can survive, as he would be providing no actual vape products)

I personally will not be affected greatly by the regulations as I have enough supplies to keep me going for many years.  I will not have my normal juice, but I can DIY something that is vapable (with Comp's help).  I will also continue to purchase mods, tanks, replacement boards, 510 connectors, wire, etc.  I would have probably bought most of them anyway since I am an overpreparer, with shinyitus....

After reading the regs closely, I'm not too worried at this point. We will have all of the vaping equipment at our disposal that is out now and what comes out before 8/8. I do want to be prepared, but not at this juncture to the point of having massive amounts of vaping equipment and supplies taking up a whole room! I'm with whoever said "let's wait and see". The regs are a "final deeming" yes, however, if you read closely the FDA states that there could be changes as they gain information and more knowledge on the subject.
IMO, there might be a bit less of the vaping supplies out there once the 2 year period is over, however, this might be a good thing as far as more reliable and safer equipment and supplies. We will probably be paying a bit more I'm sure as ciggarette smokers did once the government starting piling on the "sin taxes". I remember cigs being .45 a pack when I started smoking back in 1976 and now they are $4 a pack (for the brand I smoked and where I live, I know they are much more expensive in other areas).
We may have to rely on B&M's much more than we do now. I recently spoke with a local shop owner and he said that equipment will more than likely be a bit more expensive, however, it wouldn't affect him as much since he doesn't make his own juice and is strictly a retailer. We may also see a big decline in online sales due to ID restrictions, but I'm sure the industry will address that issue and hopefully it won't make as big of an impact to the online vendors.
At this point in time, I believe we are going to be OK for the next 2 years, I hope. But as I said, after reading the regs, I don't think the "vape apocalypse" is upon us, nor will it come to that point. But I've been known to be wrong, once or twice a decade... , and I hope this isn't one of the times.
Should it appear that we are in trouble, I'll be maxing out my credit cards and the post office will get to know me very well, even more so than they do now!

Got a CoolFire IV TC100 today from 101Vapes. So far I'm really liking this in wattage mode, haven't tried the TC yet, I'm waiting until I need to change coils in my Triton. The iStick TC is not very impressive for me but I think I may be looking at getting a few more CoolFire IV TC100 in future.

    +1 on the sales! @jasonculp
One thing we will likely see in the very near future is great sales in the local B&M's and a few of the online retailers?  I've already picked up a couple mods and tanks because they were on really good sales (basically saving 35%).  As I find more good deals, I'll not pass up the bargains   What I don't use right away, I'll have for a rainy-day, or will make good $$ selling them on the black market IF the FDA causes vapocoplypse....

For right now... Don't Panic to the point where you'll spend hundreds of dollars and stock up on things you'll not need, or still be able to get for the next 2-3 years.  Yes, juice left in the freezer will last beyond two-years, but why panic-buy $500 of juice you may not even enjoy the taste of six months from now?  Sure, if there is something you've had your eye on for a while... buying it now is not a bad thing, but there's no need to stockpile like it's the end of the world.
The market for hardware and juices will be relatively stable for the next two years, and quite possibly beyond then.  Some of the boutique companies (that were only out to make $ on vaping) might disappear, but most of the large companies will still be around, especially hardware manufacturers such as Kangertech, Aspire, Joyetech, Smok, eLeaf, etc.  In a year or two, juices may become higher priced and harder to find flavors/companies you currently use, but if Congress will do their job (putting a boot to the FDA's throat) by forcing the grandfather date to change... we'll all breath easier, at least for now, because what is on the market will be allowed to STAY on the market without going through the retroactive approval process.
Personally, I did buy a couple of mods and a couple of Subtank Mini's... Yes, I was going to buy them ANYWAY, but went ahead and pulled the trigger on them because I found them on sale.  I DIY juice, but I'm not going to go crazy stocking up on Nicotine, PG, VG, or flavorings until someone says "on X-date, Nicotine sales will be restricted to licensed buyers"... or "On X-date, flavoring prices will be taxed at 300%".  Until there is definitive proof and a set-date for things to go pear-shaped, I'll just buy what I need, when I need it.  BTW, I have nearly a liter of 10% Nicotine, gallons of VG/PG, and a shelf in my freezer full of flavorings... but I like to have that much on hand anyway!

LOL...  just a side note.  If you store nicotine in a bottle in the freezer, put it inside a plastic bag, then into a child proof container.  I had a liter in the top of the freezer.  When I got my second liter, I grabbed the first one, and it had leaked out about 50ml into the bag I had it wrapped in.  It was lying on it's side.  They are both wrapped separately, placed upright, inside a container now. It isn't child proof, but I am the only child who lives here (my wife is the adult).

Another reason I prefer a 100mg base is for ease of measuring, when mixing a 30ml batch of 4mg using a 100mg base you add 1.2ml base, if you use pure nicotine you would have to measure .12ml, which can be done with the right equipment but not something I want to do. Besides pure nicotine is hard to come by, but you can get it.

Most of the time it is diluted with Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin, or a combination of both.  Most people I know only use 100mg/ml Nicotine or lower.  100mg/ml is a 10% solution and while it is still dangerous, it is much safer than 999.9mg/ml which is the 99.99% pure nicotine.
Nicotine solutions such as the 10% that i use are very thick and do not produce volatile fumes.  This is why we must turn it into an aerosol using heat in our vape mods.
When I mix, or even fill my tanks at home, I use my office.  I have a cat that is super curious and likes to get into anything that he can.  @Compenstine suggested that I use a tote to store my stuff with a latching lid.  I also keep all bottles sealed, and everything cleaned such as beakers and graduated cylinders inside this box.

It is.  The problem is that artificial flavorings can't be outlawed (everything would taste/smell pretty bland) and the FDA would have to prove that they are manufactured, and distributed with the intent to be used in a vaping product.  This would be impossible.  If you look at most of the sites they don't include vaping in their intended uses. Same with many other components.  Sandvik will not stop making Kanthal because the FDA thinks it should.  It isn't made for vaping, and they could care less that it is.  I have no way to know the total market share that vape products have in the resistance wire market, but I would have to assume that it is very small.

@Earthling789 Yes a lot can change in two years time. I'm not sure that it is a panic so much as it is throwing in the towel. A lot of vape shops were looking to cash in on the industry and are not willing to fight for change. The HR2058 is our best hope at the moment for some change. However this bill will stagnate the industry for many years to come. Congress now must slap the FDA down to really stop this from moving forward. It is very clear when you start adding up the cost for manufactures to make products to even put on the shelf to sell, that even retailers will not survive. It goes from a full store inventory to a small rack on a counter top. If even a small manufacture like my self is looking at having to pay 8.5 billion just to have no guarantee that the products can pass the PMTA, doors will close and close fast. I personally will hold out as long as I can and fight for the change, but it is an up hill battle.

Today, I saw examples of true panic in the industry (retail)...
I took my SO to tan at the local shop, which also has a small vape-shop, selling moderate and premium e-liquids and basic vaping equipment (eGo/Spinners, KPT/Nautilus style tanks, simple mods like the iStick, etc.)... they've already put up fire-sale prices on everything in the store.  The gal behind the counter said with the new regs, they were told to sell it off because they couldn't afford to continue to be in the business of vaping.    I know the owner well, and will try to reach out to him on Monday to INFORM him of the regs, and how they will not affect him as a retailer (directly), but after 8/8/18, he may have limited availability of products/liquids, and prices will obviously increase....
Another local mom-and-pop shop (actually the first shop I ever went into, and bought my first eGo's from) already has a "going out of business" sign in their window.  They were closed (it was late) when I saw the sign, but can only assume they too were horribly misinformed on these regs and decided to jump-ship before August rolls around
There is so much misinformation going around out here in the real world, and what amazes me is how those "in the business" such as retailers are not on top of the info through CASAA or any of the other vaping info outlets....
Yeah, the rest of us (consumers) are in an outrage, and there is some panic.... but it's not the end of the world (of vaping) YET...
It's not a panic point yet... We are at Def-Con 3... where we need to be fully aware of our surroundings and act accordingly.  We need to be backing and supporting the vaping advocacy groups such as CASAA and communicating with our Congressmen.  We'll still be able to buy our mods, tanks, and coils... and yes, even e-liquids for another two years, at least!  There is no mention of taxation yet, even though we expect it to be coming (God knows how our government loves our tax dollars).  Taxes have to be set by local/state/federal legislative bodies.  The FDA has no power to tax any product or even suggest a tax rate.
What I see happening on August 8th is ... nothing... it will be business as usual.  Sure, some companies will scale down or get out of the vaping industry all together, but the vast majority will continue to provide the mods/tanks/liquids on August 9th, and beyond... at least until 2018.  Will taxes be imposed on e-liquids by 2018?  Maybe?  But it won't happen anytime soon.
Now, all that being said... yes, I've placed an order for a couple of mods, and two new tanks... but I planned to buy them anyway.  Yes, maybe I bought them earlier than I would have if the FDA hadn't dropped their bomb, but I fully expect to be able to obtain my hardware and liquids (if I bought pre-made e-liquids) for at least another couple of years... and hopefully by that time, Congress will have slapped-down the FDA and changed the grandfather date to 2016 so all the current, existing products will be unaffected and fully available forever.

After watching the video I posted, I decided to put my flavors to the calculator. As the regs stand, it would cost me $8,428,000,000.00 to keep all the options for all the flavors offered. I would have to have this amount ready within the next 2 years. That is just one company with 49 flavors and this is not including the testing that would also need done on these flavors. I have seen numbers that say the Vape Industry in a 4 to 6 billion dollar a year industry as a whole... If you think these regs will not kill the industry? Please think again.

Linked from the above article...  "E-cigs not as satisfying as the real thing, study finds", and this is likely one of the studies the FDA paid grant money for, and then utilized the study in their research to create the Deeming....
First of all, the "study" was conducted in 2014 (when the CE4 and eGo were the norm), and it was conducted by researchers at the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) at Georgia State University.  It wasn't even a "study"... it was a SURVEY
    Survey details
The researchers surveyed 5,717 U.S. adults in 2014, asking questions about their awareness of e-cigarettes, use of their products, and reasons for using traditional and novel tobacco products. Among the 144 former cigarette smokers who had tried e-cigarettes, nearly 30 percent (or 43 people) continued to use them as a satisfying alternative to regular cigarettes. But among the 585 smokers in the study, nearly 58 percent (or 337 people) reported they found e-cigarettes unsatisfying and stopped using them.  Now, what I get from the numbers above... of 5717 people surveyed, only 144 were former smokers (2.5%), and 585 were active smokers (10.2%).  Starting there, the study is flawed because you're questions do not have enough base to formulate opinion.
Secondly... This is what I see from the data:
144 are former smokers, of which 30% actively use e-cigs as an alternative to smoking or cessation device.... and 70% have QUIT, possibly by using e-cigs as the tool to accomplish their task of quitting. 58% of the 585 active smokers reported they didn't like e-cigs... so, does that mean that 42% DID like them, used them, and quit smoking by using e-cigs??  Well, we don't know the whole story do we?  This is because the study is flawed and obviously bias to report only the negative, not the positive outcome.  They would likely say the same thing (people don't like them) if only 20% of the smokers said they were "unsatisfying". Isn't the FDA's own research showing that their "approved" cessation devices (pills/patches/gum/inhalers) only have a 20-25% success rate in smoking cessation/elimination?  This study alone proves (albeit with a small sample) that e-cig use has a higher rate of adaptation and success... but you'll not see that in an FDA report, will you? This is the kind of junk science that we taxpayers need to be stop funding.  This is one of the main reasons I stopped doing research and chemical testing for labs in the early 90's...  All gov't funded research is bias, or at least has a bias (suggested outcome) before the testing begins.  Data numbers always support the bias, rather than the truth, and even when you point out the positive/truth to management, you are told "to focus on the results you are paid to find" or "you don't know what you're talking about"... Well, data doesn't lie... only people do!

That is one reason I prefer the mods that use replaceable batteries, I don't know how long a built in battery lasts, it might be a year it might be 5 years, but when it quits holding a charge the mod has to be replaced. The mods that use replaceable batteries that will not hold a charge anymore, only the battery needs to be replaced not the mod. With my single battery mods I remove the battery to recharge it, but my dual battery mod I just leave them in and recharge them in the mod. That way I don't have to keep extra married sets. Just the way I do it, and I know other people do it differently.
