  1. I am one of those people who was so addicted to cigarettes and cigars that eventually I would have died with an oxygen mask in one hand and a cigarette or cigar in the other. Smoked for decades, eventually developed emphysema, trouble breathing and associated issues. Within months of quitting, no more medications, breathing is now normal, no other issues and my pulmonary doctor can't believe it. My energy and stamina have returned to normal levels and I can now do anything I could do decades ago. I recently had a complete pulmonary workup and testing that took several hours, and the technician performing the tests was amazed that my breathing, oxygen levels and other functions are completely normal and appropriate for my age. I still have the lung damage, however the rest of my lungs are working so efficiently, that my functioning is completely normal. My pulmonary doctor now says "See you in a year." All of this is from switching from analogs to vaping. Congratulations on making such an important change; it is a life defining decision!
  2. Welcome and congratulations on quitting smoking. You won't believe what a difference it will make in the way you feel in as little as two weeks and continuing to improve over the next few months. Everything gets better, taste, smell, energy, breathing and a bunch of other great benefits. Plus you now won't smell like an ashtray, won't burn your clothes, car seats, won't have bad teeth, bad breath and a bunch of other benefits. I have a friend who vapes so much cinnamon juice, that he basically reeks of it, and women flock to him like a magnet. Another benefit and it works equally well for men and women. Anyway congrats for making such an important decision in your life. It is a defining moment you'll never forget!!
  3. Instead of washing in hot water and waiting for 24 hours, I use 91% isopropyl alcohol from WalMart. I simply drop the atty, cartridge, clearomizer or whatever into a jar filled with the alcohol, swish it around a few times, drain it and it dries in minutes, instead of taking all night waiting for the water to evaporate. If the wick is really caked up and won't wick up because of the sticky residue, I'll leave the atty in the alcohol all night, take it out the next morning, and it looks and works like new. The alcohol dissolves the residue inside the tank much quicker, dissolves the sticky residue on the wick much better, cleans the coil better and is odorless after it completely evaporates. For my dripping atty, I simply squirt in some alcohol, swish it around a little, drain it, let it dry for a few minutes and I am good to go for another flavor or e-liquid without waiting. I rarely can ever taste the previous juice. About the only flavor I have trouble with is menthol and cinnamon which take a little more cleaning to remove the aroma of the flavor.
  4. Congrats on quitting tobacco & welcome to the forum. You'll find that the first couple of months, you'll go wild buying all kinds of stuff and e-liquids. It'll taper off and you'll eventually have what you need and only buy a few products now and then. With the e-liquids, once you get into making your own for pennies, it's tough to fork over 5 to 8 bucks for 10 ml. There are some great juice extracts, that for five bucks, will make 200 ml of e-liquid. Additionally you'll find some home mix that you can make for pennies with ordinary home extracts, like cinnamon vanilla, maple etc. Vegetable glycerin & propylene glycol are dirt cheap and 4 bucks each worth will make enough juice for a year. Have fun, and enjoy vaping twice as much as you smoked with zero health consequences!!!
  5. I have noticed that the mint and menthol liquids do affect my clearomizers. in my CE-4's they cloud up the plastic within a couple of days. I also had one come apart at the top very similar to what happed to yours, except mine was a clean break at the top chrome ring.
  6. The more I hear about what people do, the more I like dogs.
  7. The e-liquids are extremely potent and just having a small amount on your fingers, lips or nasal openings can remain pungent for days. I mix a lot of my own liquids, and sometimes can still smell the aroma on my hands after multiple hand washings. RY-4 was probably not the best liquid to try first. When I first tasted it, I hated it, and thought it tasted like cologne mixed with used motor oil. I now actually enjoy the flavor, go figure. If the atty they used had a burnt wick, the taste is terrible, and again can linger in your nostrils for days. Similar to firefighters who say they can still smell the fire days later. Although none of the e-liquids taste exactly like tobacco, some come very close and are very enjoyable for those who enjoy the tobacco flavor. My suggestion is to try a variety of different ones until you find one you like. When I first started tasting the different tobacco flavors, some were so bad it was enough to make you gag. Ultimately I found some that were actually quite nice and tasted very close to real tobacco. it's a shame your first experience was not pleasant, but don't give up. You'll find it very enjoyable and if you're like most, you won't even think about quitting tobacco, It will just happen.
  8. That is great news!!! I am similar, smoked for decades, cig's and cigars both. Got my first e-cig kit and never touched tobacco again. Now I have lots of vape equipment, and in addition to saving my life, it's become a fun hobby!
  9. A simple way to drip is to take a standard cartomizer (with the exception of Boge, which had a vertical coil). Remove the cap, carefully remove the cotton wadding, and center tube by gently pulling on it, and you now have a nice drip atty. Typically takes about 6 or 7 drops which gives around 20 puffs. Too much liquid and it will leak from the bottom. Most of the cartomizers have a covering that is easily removed revealing a nice stainless steel tube. Remove the covering, and glue (hassle) and put on a drip tip or the one that came with the cartomizer and you have a nice atty for dripping. If I accidently burn the cartomizer by running it dry, I do this and convert it for dripping, giving me a double use.
  10. That's good to know. I am anxious to try their liquids. I've heard from several others that their flavors are very good
  11. Welcome guys, and congrats on quitting tobacco. Great to have you as members!!!

    Hello

Welcome Kevin. Great to have you as a member!!!
  13. Welcome VapeDude, it's great to have you as a member. You won't be wet behind the ears for long with all the info contained here.
  14. Does anyone have any experience with Azure vaping e-liquids? I found them on the web today and ordered some liquid. Prices are fantastic $8.00 for 30 ml, and $16.00 for 120 ml. they also carry tobacco absolute for four bucks. Their prices on the limited equipment they stock is a little high, so it looks like they specialize in liquid. A family business here in the US. I'll report back with my opinion after it arrives and I try it.
  15. Ryan, Congrats on your decision to quit tobacco. You're gonna be amazed at how much better you feel, and all the other benefits, taste, smell, money etc. After slowly poisoning yourself with tobacco smoke, you are now going to enjoy smoking vapor with virtually no health consequences. shortly, you'll never even consider going back to tobacco. There are lots of people here with lots of experience who have all experienced everything you are going through and I can assure you were are thrilled for you and willing to help in any way possible. Read everything you can about equipment and I am sure you'll find just the right PV (personal vaporizer) for your needs. Best of luck to you, and again, congratulations on a wise decision.
  16. I have found that my menthol juice fogs up my CE-4 clearomizer within a day or two. Must be something in the mix.
  17. Josh, Find a flavor that she loves, and buy some e-liquid in that flavor in addition to a medium tobacco flavor, Get it set up for her and just lay it where it is available for her to use at her leisure. I guarantee she'll try it at some point, and once she does, good chance she'll reduce her analog use of quit. Good Luck!
  18. I have a friend who quit smoking cigars several years ago, but will occasionally take one and put it in his mouth unlit for a while, to I guess enjoy some of the flavor. He says he runs into this type of situation all the time. Interesting
  19. Before I quit analogs, and was still smoking cigars, my wife and I went to pick up pizza. As I was standing outside waiting for her, I thought I'd light up a cigar. When I realized I wouldn't have time to smoke it, I just put it in my mouth between my teeth. A lady drove up and parked about 50 ft. away from where I was standing, and when she got out of her car, she saw me and started coughing, gaging and waving her hands in front of her face like she was fanning away smoke. She yelled at me to move away from the door and said the smoke was choking her. When I held up my unlit cigar and said "lady it isn't lit," she in disgust, stopped coughing, gaging and waving her hands, and replied "Well, I don't care, it stinks anyway." This is simply stated, an example of how unreasonable and crazy people are about the issue of smoking. This person was suffering physical symptoms of trauma from something that didn't exist.
  20. Cigarettes and tobacco have such a social stigma, that anything that even looks close or has the word cigarette, nicotine or similar, causes people to go brain dead and attack it without any actual knowledge of what it is. When my wife takes a shower, and steams up the bathroom mirror with water vapor, I don't question her about why is she smoking! I find it interesting that vaporizers have been used for years to benefit and treat pulmonary conditions, but now all of a sudden they are demonized and evil. Go figure!
  21. The technician, who did all my pulmonary tests, was fascinated with my vaping info. He smoked for fifteen years, recently quit, is having a tough time. He believes he will probably go back to smoking at the first stressful situation he encounters. He said he has more lung damage than me after his 15 years. My doctor said it is basically your DNA that makes the difference. Some people are more prone to lung damage than others. Some people develop lung cancer after 10 years of smoking, some smoke all their lives with little consequence. I can assure you I am thrilled at the extent of my lung condition, as I was sure I must have extensive damage from all those years. Now, thanks to vaping I can continue having fun with vaping and not sustain additional damage to my body. There is an excellent peer reviewed report on e-cig's from Drexel University, Department of Public Health. Just Google: Drexel University e-cigarette Report and you can read the entire report in PDF. It's great to download and print to show the anti-vaping people.
  22. Josh, I think we're all like that to a greater of lesser degree. The problem with vaping is that in addition to providing a method to quit tobacco, it's fun, enjoyable, and quickly becomes a hobby. Several friends of mine who have switched to PV's are the same. They spend ton's of time putting various pieces together and making all sorts of configurations that are fun to use. I do the same thing and thoroughly enjoy it. Making your own liquids is also fun, and inexpensive. The nic is the only thing that costs much, and if you mix a few batches of no nic and some regular batches with nic, you'll double your fun alternating between them. Buy some commercial e-liquids and blend some of your own and you'll have the best of both worlds. If you make a batch you don't particularly care for, dilute it with additional VG and PG and use it as a base for another batch. A little cinnamon or spearmint flavoring in your liquids and everywhere you go when vaping, people will say, "Oh, that smells so good." My wife actually like it when I walk around the house vaping my cinnamon homebrew, saying it's like air freshener. I have a single younger friend who adds cinnamon to his no nic homebrew, and says when he goes out to singles places, it's literally a chick magnet. Have fun!
  23. An fun thing I have found, is converting a used cartomizer or 510 T to use with a drip tip. This works well with a cartomizer or 510 atty that doesn't work well any longer. When you have some that have been cleaned multiple times and just don't work well anymore, try this. For some reason even when they no longer work normally, they seem to work relatively well for dripping. For the Joyetech 510 T attty, simply remove the tank and add a drip tip. If you take some nail polish remover, or 400 grit sandpaper, you can remove the exterior black paint flash coating in a matter of minutes, exposing a beautiful stainless steel finish. Six drops of liquid provides around 20 good size puffs. You'll be surprised at the amount of vapor this almost worn out atty provides. With a cartomizer, Eversmoke, Blu or similar, carefully remove the cotton batting inside the cartridge with tweezers or a paperclip bent with a slight hook at the end, and add a drip tip. Peel off the exterior filter plastic covering, and remove the glue that was holding the cartridge covering on with whatever works, (alcohol, baby oil, glue-be-gone). Under that plastic covering is a beautiful stainless steel tube. Attach your drip tip and it works just fine. With the Eversmoke and similar, screw the cartomizer down relatively snug onto the battery to prevent leakage. If you put more than 6 drops in, you'll get some leakage at the seam where the battery attaches. The Blu has a narrower barrel and a standard drip tip won't work. If you can't find one to fit, you can use the factory black tip or just leave it off altogether and go native. The cotton batting is also packed more tightly than others and is a little more difficult to remove. Once you get it started with the paperclip, a small needle nosed plier works fine to pull the balance of it out in one piece. The Blu atty doesn't seem to produce as much vapor as some of the others. The other neat thing about this setup, is that with a small battery, it fits neatly inside you hand and is easy to conceal, when needed. Have fun.
  24. Thank you for the warm welcome. I have a number of setups. Actually what I use the most is a regular EGO setup 650 to 1100 battery with a CE4 clearomizer, inexpensive and works well. If I am out in public or with friends, I use an Enjoye 510 T e-cig or an Eversmoke e-cig, so I don't look like I am smoking an opium pipe. At home, I love the Kamry K100 with a Kanger mini pro tank II, inexpensive and fills the room with thick vapor. Another good basic setup I enjoy is an Ego 650 Battery with a Vision Nano clearomizer, small, inexpensive and fun with amazing vapor production. I make a lot of my e-liquids in addition to buying online. I have some zero nic stuff I made, and alternate it with the nic liquids. The problem is, with all this stuff, is that it has become a hobby and I spend a lot of time messing with it. I have a number of other tanks, attty's and other stuff to play with and make all kinds of fun configurations. One of the things I enjoy, is seeing how long I can keep an atty, clearomizer or cartomizer working well by cleaning them. So far I have had excellent results and am using ones that work perfect again after multiple cleanings, that most people would have thrown out. I have some cartomizers that have been refilled over 50 times and are still working well.
