  1. Oh, Yeah, I can see it now. The year is 2035, The auctioneer starts out with "Now we have lot #(whatever). A fine vintage 2009 juice made by Fadora with all natural ingredients. What am I bid, yadda yadda yadda". The bidding climbs higher and higher with E-Juice connisouers from all corners of the country battling it out. The auction ending with a winning bid of $5000 for this rare vintage naturally flavored juice.

Might be witnessing the ground floor of a vintage juice craze. Now ya gotta design a line of primo juices, a fancy schmancy label, a juice cellar, an investment club, etc, etc.

Man, I'm gonna get rich........If I live that long.

  2. One uppers are the worst! They bring out the not-so-kind side of me. "Good for you! Now stfu" Lol

I agree totally and have used that responce on occasion .... without the LOL.

As to vaping, my goal was to get away from tobacco, which I have done - painlessly I might add. And, at this point I have no plans to quit everything. At my age, this old dog isn't very interested in learning too many new tricks all at once. 50 years of smoking takes a bit of readjusting to get to nothing-to-do-with-my-hands. I ain't too much on "Keeping up with the Joneses". Mr. Jones can do as he wants, I'll do things my way.

  3. There seems to be a testimonial posted to this forum almost weekly, but usually disguised under someone's introductory post, and occasionally I use the search function to find scattered testimonials. Seems to me there should be a thread dedicated specifically to testimonials about how someone's life has been effected by vaping. I don't mean someone getting all dreamy and drippy with their writing, but simple to the point stories about leaving stinkies/nasties/smellies/coffin nails behind. What'cha think? Just might give someone on the fence, and someone backsliding, some support and/or inspiration ....... and maybe, just maybe, a bit of ammunition for enlightening the FDA all in one place. Nah, on second thought, the FDA isn't interested in being "enlightened" by us. What do we know?

  4. Nah, nobody's going to crucify you. I'm sure you;ll figure out how to deal with it.

And, yep, there's a few sellers here, too, but they don't get in your face, This clubhouse has to be paid for somehow.

  5. "Checking to see if this forum is geared more towards the "retail" store or something where people hang out and and shoot the ****".

Take your pick. If ya wanna shoot the breeze, go ahead. Want some advice or show of your stuff, havve at it. This forum has plenty of friendly folks who are ready to help you with what you want, or what you might need, without any sharp edges.

  6. Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one. Lol the "vaping community" around me gives me this vibe that I'm out of the loop because I'm not getting into them.

Hmmm ...... I hear my mom's voice - "if everyone else jumps off the roof, are you going to, too?"

Just paint yours a goofy sky-blue-pink with polka dots and be happy. And keep the xtra dollars in your pocket so you can afford a larger "loop".

  7. Nope, not everyone feels the need. My goal was to get away from tobacco. Started with basic eGo batteries and CE4 tanks. After 18+ months the only upgrade is from 650ma batteries to 1100ma batteries and CE4's to EVOD BCC tanks. Quite satisfied with what I've accomplished with basic equipment. Now, that's not to say I haven't admired some of the higher end stuff, but I don't see any real advantage to spending the extra money to do the same thing ........ quit cigarettes. Plus, I'm a cheap old guy, too.

  8. I read the article, and on the surface it sems reasonable. But, being the cynic that I am, I don't believe much of what some of these people are saying. I'm sure many, many people would like to see cigarettes go off into never-never land, but most are civilians, not govt. beaurocrats who will say one thing to the audience while one hand behind their back open to "donations" from the one they're demonising. Occasionally a disguised truth emerges. Such as - “It’s hard to do a ban on cigarettes because you’re taking something away from people they have and are using. Once you have something, you hold tight,” said Richard Daynard, a Northeastern University law professor who focuses on tobacco issues." I know he's talking about the cigarette, but the same words can be interpreted to refer to the tax revenue from cigarettes. All one has to do is change the context of the statement. See, told you I'm a cynic.

Also, being an exsmoker, I think they're attacking cigarettes from the wrong end. "But if the FDA can ratchet down nicotine in conventional cigarettes to levels below what’s in e-cigarettes, perhaps everyone who clings to smoking will switch to the higher-nicotine new products. That could achieve the end of smoking, at least of combustible, carcinogen-filled cigarettes — or so the thinking goes". I do agree that smoking cigarettes is a nasty smelly habit that annoys many people, but attacking just the nicotine, which has pretty much been shown to be not much more harmful than caffiene, is not going to solve any of the health problems associated with cigarettes. Here's a novel idea - produce cigarettes with only natural tobacco, no additives, no spider/roach legs, floor sweepings, added chemicals, etc. Still probably not a very healthy end product, but better than the crap that's being marketed today.

With that said, the idea of ratcheting down the nic levels to push people to less harmful e-cigs does have some appeal, but then the tax revenue monster shows up once again and makes e-cigs the target.

That's my 2 cents. I could be wrong. BTW, why do we have to give our "2 cents worth" when all anyone asks for is "a penny for your thoughts"?

  9. Ya know guys, I realize this is the "informatin age" with many things going digital/online, etc. Ranting here and on other e-cig forums, and posting responces to unfavorable online articles is all well and good, but, we're pretty much preacing to the choir. In my opinion, if we want to reach the broadest audience, we also need to write letters to the print media as well. I know everything filtered and isn't printed, but if a few do manage to get by the censors and get printed on the editorial pages an additional small voice is heard. And, a small voice is beter than nothing.

  10. Hello again, like I said I am new, started vaping about 6 weeks ago. I am reading all I can about vaping and I have learned so much here so I have a question. I'm not quite understanding about dripping. Can somebody help me out and explain a little more? If it is pinned somewhere so sorry but I can't find it. Thanks so much!

    Doc

C'mon guys. She DID ask a question ..... in a round-about way, but. I've seen many more inane questions asked with half page diatribe explanations. I'm not a dripper, but I know more than you guys just (didn't) explained. I might try to give her a bit more insight, but since I'm not a dripper - yet, I'll leave it to you guys to expand her knowledge. And mine by reading and absorbing.

  11. Alright, you dripper fans have finally sparked my curiosity. Been vaping for 19+ months with a simple setup that suits me just fine. I've seen and read bunches about dripping, but always thought ..... nah, too much trouble. Since I recently started doing my own juices, I really don't much like taste testing the juice in a tank. If it tastes like soap, I have a compromised coil for a while. I think with a drip setup a taste test might be easier. And, I can expand my horizons into the dripping side of vaping. What would you guys reccommend for an inexpencive entry level dripping setup?

Another important question about dripping: does a dripping setup have to involve building my own coils? That's something I'm not interested in doing.

  14. If you want to clean yer EVOD coils, they will break down farther than unscrewing them and soaking in water/vodka/grain, whatever, and change the flavor wick if you're willing to put the time 'n effort into it. I take them apart, clean them in unflavored denture cleaner, put them back together with a new flavor wick and vape some more with them. I have coils that have been around for months. I usually wait till I have about a dozen burnt coils before going through the process. It's not really worth the effort to do just a couple. It's not hard, just something I do in my "spare" time. That way, changing coils when changing flavors isn't such a big deal to also change the coil.

  15. Happy Independence Day, huh?!! With the state this country's in right now, and has been for the past few decades, we're way removed from any independence worth celebrating. It's still the best country on the planet, though ........ as long as we can hang on to it. Nuff said. Enjoy your fireworks shows.

  16. I think getting down to zero nic/zero vape would pretty much depend on you. For me, I'm not trying to get to zero nic. The hand-to-mouth thing has me pretty well tied up, plus I don't have the desire to kick everything, although I am working on it slowly just to see what happens. I know one who has gone to zero nic and quit everything totally in a year. Others I know are still working the same nic level they started with. Others can't leave tobacco alone even while they're vaping. From the stories I've heard, drop your nic level a couple/three points at a time every month. If you find you're sucking the bottom out of your PV for the nic fix, you're too early on the nic drop. Bottom line - it's going to be up to you how committed you are to gettiing off the nic train.

  17. You know what you're actually right. I kind of hated the smell. At first I was telling myself "Its ok." then I couldn't stand I told my friend "Ughh it stinks!" and he just laughed at me haha! Anyway thanks! I'm looking forward to hitting the markers.

People who still smoke and resist e-cigs are a mystery to me. They know tobacco is bad for them, some even express a desire to stop, but still continue smoking even after being offered a much better alternative ...... and, as you found out, laugh at someone trying to do better, making observations and suggesting an alternative. Maybe it's a vanity thing, maybe they look at e-cigs as not "manly-man" enough. Doesn't matter, though. I can only "drive one car at a time". For me it's e-cig all the way. You can do it, kiddo. You be the one to set the example. Others might come around as time goes by.
