  1. I never stated that someone should trade in their Provari for something else. What anyone else does is up to them. I stated that I will not buy a Provari until they upgrade it. I used to race motorcycles. Pipe and intake configurations can make a huge difference in performance. Chrome not so much. Reliability is one thing. Performance is quite another. Often times one trades one for the other. Personally I'll usually choose performance with reliability a secondary consideration. As always, everyone is free to do as they choose.
  2. I have what I consider to be dependable pv's none of which are Provaris. I can afford to buy numerous Provaris in various configurations and colors but won't until Provape updates what I consider to be a dinosaur, no matter how well made or warrantied. One can argue their merits until they are blue in the face. When they decide to update it I -may- buy one but not until then.
  3. Do new colors make up for the fact that they are feature dinosaurs?
  4. Not seeing much of anything in stores here other than disposable pen style gear. The are a few vapers where I work. All but one or two are using eGo style batts with various toppers. One woman just started so I'm trying to help her out. Was in Austin last week and ran into a couple of vapers on different evenings at the hotel bar. Both were fairly new to vaping so we swapped stories. When I started vaping I saw NO ONE else and there was NOTHING in stores around here. So I guess things are picking up a bit.
  5. Beware of high percentages of vg. Depending on your delivery device it can severely inhibit juice flow resulting in dry hits. It's a balancing act from my experience.
  6. Might have been able to attend a few weeks ago. Was in Louisville on biz trip. Maybe next time.
  7. Sorry to hear of your misfortune but don't hold your breath trying to repair a Vamo. At the price it's sold at it's pretty much a throwaway device imo.
  8. Mount Baker Vapor and Tasty Vapor are vendors I've used that let you select the percentages of vg/pg.
  9. I keep about 6 favorites in rotation. The favorites tend to vary over time though. I have the diy supplies to mix a bunch of different flavors when I want to try something new.
  10. current = voltage divided by resistance -or- I = E / R the formula can be reworked using simple math R * I = E R = resistance (ohms) For vaping purposes the first expression of the formula works best in light of the formula for watts: Current (I) X voltage (v) = power (watts) Most people it seems, without delving into subohm crap and all that, prefer to vape standard delivery devices and juices at 7 - 8 watts.
  11. I first tried their juices almost a year ago and have bought only from them since my first order. Later I ordered diy stuff from them and mix my own versions of their flavors. I still buy a couple of flavors ready made as I'm hesitant to try to duplicate it. A great vendor. I have nothing negative to say about them.
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'll bet you've never tried a Semovar.
  13. All vv/vw pv's use pulse width modulation to deliver the user's desired voltage. The difference is how well they deliver the desired voltage set point be that by using VV or VW. In either case voltage fires the delivery device and forces current to flow. Devices like the Provari or those that incorporate the Nivel chip do it best by actual measurement. Other devices, at least for me, deliver close to the same user experience for far less money than the Provari or Svoe Mesto Semovar. Examples from my own experience include the eVic, Sigelei Zmax and Vamo.
  14. RMS - root mean square http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_mean_square Look at the waveforms pictured. The first is rms. The modulation is much smoother. Mean modulation is much more coarse - basically switching the voltage source on-off-on-off-on-off at a rate where the mean voltage over time is the desired voltage output. It makes for a very hot vape and is harder on device coils than rms. I've yet to encounter anyone that prefers mean over rms.
  15. I got a 510 kit in March 2010 never intending to quit smoking altogether. It was only to get me through a work day where I couldn't smoke for 9 - 10 hours. Despite my original intent I no longer felt a need to smoke and haven't since then. Almost 4 years.
  16. +1 Until the media whipped propaganda campaign and attendant hysteria is over, if it's ever over, I just keep a low profile. You don't have to exhale a big vape cloud, drawing attention to yourself of course, to enjoy your vape. But then there will always be those who want to draw attention to themselves. Are you within your rights to vape? Possibly, depending on city ordinance or property owner's rules. Is it a smart move in the current climate where vapers are trying to gain public acceptance through education? NO.
  17. What I linked to replaces a standard wall outlet. The advantages should be apparent if you can afford to lose 1/2 of a standard duplex receptacle while replacing it with the usb ports. No more more charging from a computer/laptop or potentially flaky wall adapter. The only downside is that an electrician or somebody who knows what they're doing needs to install it. They are approved for use. I learned about them in a National Electrical Code forum earlier today. Flaky stuff doesn't get approved for use.
  18. For whatever reason I seemed to have missed the debut of these: http://www.lowes.com/pd_69105-1571-TM8USBWCC6_0__?productId=3727239&Ntt=pass+and+seymour+usb&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dpass%2Band%2Bseymour%2Busb&facetInfo=&utm_source=legrand.us&utm_medium=redirect A combination electrical receptacle outlet and USB charging ports. News to me!
  19. I recently bought a bunch of Kanger protank replacement coils and have had no issues fwiw. I guess a bad production run is possible and you just weren't lucky. Just a guess. You could always try soaking and rinsing them before use. Obviously your call.
  20. If they're Kanger the packaging and the site should say so. In my case I bought knowing I was getting a generic just to give it a try. Sometimes you just learn the hard way.
  21. It's a generic coil from the looks of it. I got some of those back when I used Vivi Novas. They're junk.
  22. Very good video. I wonder how many people other than vapers will ever see it.
  23. I dumped cable in June of last year. I tried both Hulu Plus and Netflix. After about a month I dumped Hulu because they had nothing left I wanted to see. Netflix imo is vastly better.
