What Will Happen When Bans Make Vape Culture Go Up in Smoke?
Christopher replied to latinosvape's topic in New Vapers Forum
There might be tight regulation but I highly doubt there will ever be a complete ban. Many years ago it was a huge issue that many of us old timers fought pretty hard against. (California almost had a complete ban if it wasn't for Arnold) Supplies were being seized at the border and shortages weren't unheard of. At that time though the vape community was small and it has since grown exponentially. What I do see happening is regulation, in fact it's inevitable. Honestly, given the way some of this "US Liquid" is made, it's probably needed to be honest. In any case the community now is not only large it's well educated. Forums like this one provide such a wealth of information that there will always be access to hardware and liquid. Either by questionable means or home brews. My best guess is bottled liquid will become a thing of the past. At least for general retail. Regulation is likely going to require that retailers and wholesalers provide a safer way to distribute e-liquid. This past year alone has seen a rise in children poisoned by liquid nicotine. What form remains to be seen but I assume it'll be similar to cartomizers or tanks that require a removable storage units. (Sort of how the Joye eGo C works but the cartridges will be prefilled) Big Tobacco is involved now and a once industry with a bleak future has had life breathed into it. They're not going to let it go anywhere. What they will do however is lobby for tightly controlled permits and regulation. This will also likely include propaganda and marketing techniques to ensure vaping remains legal but "safer for the children" (not that I'm against safer storage mind you). The truth is the competition right now is wide open in a wild wild west fashion. Just about anyone with extra savings and passion for vaping is opening either an online or retail store. Many of whom aren't even aware of the general history of electronic cigarettes. (A shop owner once told me that e-liquid has never been sold in high PG form. I told him that prior to RBA's that was ********. People wanted throat hit and the only vapers that used VG at one time were those sensitive to PG) Prices are all over the place. Some stores charge huge markups while others sell under what a normal product would be sold to cover overhead because they supplement their income with a daytime job. It's been really interesting to witness since 2008. Anyway my point is the big players are slowly moving towards controlling the market. We already have reliable devices and a solid foundation for e-liquid. Now all that needs to be done is to rein in the consumers. They'll do this through expensive regulation that most smaller mom and pop shops will be unable to adhere to financially. (This eliminating the competition) -
Is my Panzer (MCV Philippines) real or a clone?
Christopher replied to tdh0085's topic in New Vapers Forum
I'd say with about 80% certainty it's clone. Most notable is the missing detail on the top cap (the missing grain that's usually present in the etch marks as show in the video below) It's pretty tough to spot out clones as the Chinese really excel at copying things. (In fact they genuinely take pride in the process) but given what you paid, it's still a pretty good deal. Honesty these mechanical devices generally perform close the same. (clone or not) -
When using a new coil it's important that when you first add e-liquid you allow it so sit for a moment and soak. Failure to do so will result in burning the coil up right off the bat. Additionally you'll want to make sure you are using a high quality e-liquid. Finally I make sure if it's a high PG liquid that you're not running the voltage too high. (The higher the voltage, generally the higher the VG ratio needs to be)

Link to the vapor talk vape time signature
Christopher replied to spydre's topic in Website Feedback & Bug Reporting
When pasting the banner into your signature are you using the "BBCODE" or the "HTML"? Generally you'll want to copy and paste the BBCODE not the HTML version. A new banner can be created here: http://www.vaportalk.com/Smokefree/index.php -
Hey Jason, I applied some updates to the forum today (latest patch) are you still having the same issue?
-
Perfect. The issue seems to be that you are posting via HTTPS rather than HTTP. What's interesting to me is why when you post a new topic, the HTTPS field is coming up rather than regular http. (Notice the start of the URL is https://....) Could you try and tell me the exact steps you took to throw that error? I'll try to see if I can duplicate it on my end. If not I might provide you with a browser logger to help me narrow down the issue. (By the way I'll send some free swag your way for the trouble!)
-
ok so I just tried on desktop using Chrome and FF (your version) Mod Forum > New Topic > copy and paste text > Submit = ok Mod Forum > Test Topic > Reply box > copy pasta text > ok What's odd is that your posting seems to be fine here and only on that sub forum. (though if you get that 404 error again I would love a screenshot because I can see what URL the board is spitting out which will tell me a lot) I would ensure you don't have any pop up blockers running on the forum that could cause issues. And again if you can get that 404 and take a full page screenshot, it might help me narrow down the problem a little further.
-
Hey Jason, When you try to post in that forum I assume the box must be showing up. Does it give you an error, load forever etc? Are you on mobile/tapatalk or desktop.

Sometimes when I post....
Christopher replied to Earthling789's topic in Website Feedback & Bug Reporting
This one is going to be a little tougher to track down as I can't replicate it but I'll see if there is a character limit bug or similar. (Or a timeout issue) I'll also report the bug to IPB. In the mean time I would suggest CTRL C your post every so often so you can paste in case anything goes wrong. It's not the most convenient but at least until I can track down the issue. -
ok I've reported this as a bug to IPB. It seems to be at random so it's a bit hard to debug but a few other admins have reported similar issues. There is another update rolling out in a week that should hopefully resolve the issue
-
hmm, can you link me to the topic
-
By default the quote option quotes the entire post. So, if you're quoting a post that has quotes already in it, it will quote those quotes also.
-
Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes we make decisions and think "hey this'll be great" then afterward we think "let's not work that late again..."
-
That's ok sometimes I get logged in as Jeffb and it's gay porn ads for the rest of the week
-
Good I'm glad to hear it. Please stop break things ;) (kidding)
-
Sounds like there might be a glitch in that particular addon. I've disabled it for the time being while I look into it further. Can you let me know if the problem is now resolved?
-
Awesome! I'm glad it's finally resolved

That is where the confusion is coming in. There is no mobile site anymore. In fact most sites/companies are moving away from the whole mobile/desktop site because it means more to maintain. Instead the site now using one theme basic structure. It adapts itself as I mentioned above to any screen size. The way to see this actually take place is on a desktop computer. When you have time, open the website on a desktop computer. Now when you have your browser window open you can take your mouse to the very edge of the window until two little arrows appear <-> drag the window side to side and you'll actually see the site change between desktop/tablet and phone mode. Basically the menu above shrinks and turns into what we call a "hamburger" menu. It's not that there is a mobile/desktop site anymore just that the graphic interface will transform itself when it notices your screen size shrink. In the case of you iPad you're actually running the full version of the sites graphic interface because your screen is just big enough. But you're still technically running a mobile browser not a full desktop browser. The chat bar is run on separate software (Cometchat) which is set to turn off for mobile users. When a device visits a the website/forum (iphone, windows computer, whatever) it has what we call an "agent". Basically it's like a drivers license for browsers. Kind of. It tells us as web developers what you are using to view the site, allowing us to better code/program the experience for you. In your case, you are visiting using a mobile browser and while technically your screen is larger enough to handle the chat, most mobile browsers are not, the chat doesn't work correctly and thus is disabled for any agent (driver's license) that the site identifies as mobile. The way around this is to trick the site into thinking you're a desktop. And you do that by changing your browser settings to "request desktop mode" or a similar settings. To do that in iOS8 (I'm not sure what version you are running) see this link here: http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/request-desktop-site-ios-8/ Again to recap, you're stuck in the middle. What's happening here is the forum knows your mobile but have a big enough screen to have a full featured menu, thus, the site shows like it would on desktop. But the CHAT which has it's own settings, see's that you are a mobile device and isn't smart enough to know that you can run chat. Thus, it turns itself off. I should note that I'm working on bridging the chat between the TapaTalk app to resolve issues just like this. (Which is how 40% of the users visit us now)

I'm might get pitch forked here but that is the full site, am I missing something? 1. Logo - Beop name (brings drop down menu) 2. Menu (Forum, links into the store, rewards for those who shop on the VT store etc) 3. Banner ad (gotta make sure the bills are paid) 4. This topic ?? As for the text/glitch issues I tried it on an iPad just today and had no issues. What iPad do you have (Wondering if it's one of the older models) Thanks for being patient we'll get this figured out one way or another. Desktop issues are easy to solve because I can usually remote into a members computer (over the phone with their permission) and solve the issue. But tablets are a little trickier. EDIT: At this rate Bebop I might just drive to your home lol
-
Bebop please take a screenshot and either post it here or support@vaportalk.com because there is no "full site" the full site and the "mobile" site are the same site (just scaled down) so I need to see what you're seeing
-
Yea I've got a couple surface tablets here at the house that are great. Even better it has kids mode so I can let the kids do their thing without worrying about them breaking anything. (other than the screen)
-
Well at the very least that helps me narrow down a few things. I'll get on an iPad switch it to mobile mode and see why the site is acting up. Might take me a few days though
-
ha, please. I mean it really depends on how bad things get but if they declared martial law, there are enough sleepy Americans that'd wake up pissed off and armed. Americans are sort of like lazy giants in my eyes, they just sort of hum drum along, but once they're pissed off...
-
ah I see. That makes more sense. Basically every browser has an agent identifier. When you visit the site the browser says "Hey it's adversarious1 and he's on an iPhone with a mobile browser" the forum then displays XYZ and the chat disables. If you switch that setting from mobile to desktop, it "tricks" the site into thinking your a desktop computer and vice versa if you're on a phone. The forum then see's the agent and it says "yo, it's adversious1 I'm on desktop" and the site will display that chat bar. This is actually normal. Chat is turned off for mobile users to prevent ensure a pleasant experience on the site because the chat bar doesn't do well on mobile (yet). It "knows" you're on moble by the agent identifier.
