    Noobie Guide To Vaping

(Please only post questions OR additional noobie info in here to keep this thread clean. ie: no thank you, good post, etc, posts) This is to help you play catch up on what the veterans know. Basic ecig Parts A.) Cartridge - holds the ejuice and is also a mouth piece. this part can be replaced with a drip tip and is what most do B.) Atomizer - has an element that heats up the ejuice and as you pull air threw it vapor is produced. * sub B section - you can also use cartomizers, they are atomizers with filler to hold juice and are a tad shorter in size. C.) battery - these will be 3.7v Lithium Ion batteries, they supply the power to the atomizer. they come in auto (activated by suction) or manual (activated by button) Common Ecigs What's the best ecig This is more dependent on how you vape and your needs for vapor, throat/lung hit, battery life needs and other factors. Most people will advise the ego/tornado/riva as they all have a nice battery life and are built good (ego being the favorite of the three) this is the ego mega and regular batteries with manual buttons Ecig Model Numbers These are based on the atomizer they use when one says 510 kit, they generally are referring to the cigarette shaped ecig. like the first picture of this post. Why we tell you not to get cigarette shaped ecigs A cigarette shaped battery runs $12 for a normal manual 510 9hrs at $20 (ego battery) 540mins 45mins (510 kit battery) 540 ÷ 45 = 12 12 (batteries) x $12 = $144 so for mAh (Milliamp hours), it is a lot less expensive to buy a larger battery. this will also keep you from having to buy more batteries. explained after next set of math. 510 kit batteries needed for 9hrs 9hrs (540mins) ÷ (45min run time + 2hr charge time = 165mins) = 3.272727273 batteries needed to run 9hrs on 510 kit 3 x $12 = $36 - 1 ego battery = $20 = $16 saved. that is initial cost only!! 45min x 2 is what you have ready to go after your first needs charged (90mins). your first battery is going to take 2hrs to charge so by the time you run out the other two the first is done charging. so just to keep going you would need at bare minimum you want two 510 chargers, this means more $$. why you ask? at night when you don't have a single battery to use, you will only be able to charge 1 while you sleep. it would be more ideal to have 3 or one of the larger chargers that do more than one and have no less than 10 batteries ready to go. on top of this when you go out you will have a pocket full of batteries, making this not a very portable device to bring with you. other than that you have to recharge more often and the more you charge the more you replace. batteries have an # of recharges before they start failing to keep their charge. now you may say by logic that you are only charging once on those small batteries in that 9hr time, so there isn't an issue on life, BUT, the smaller the battery the less times you can charge it before the failing starts. also consider that you have 3 batteries that will fail First Order When you get an ecig make sure that you have spares of everything. the atomizers, cartomizers, batteries, and juice are all going to need purchased at some point again. Your first cart should consist of NO LESS than, 5 atomizers, 2 packs of cartomizers (5 in a pack), your kit, 2 extra batteries (i would advise mega batteries), 1 extra charger, and a nice amount of juice. the last thing you want is to have to wait on something you didn't buy enough of to come in. if one thing is missing you will go right back to smoking, nobody wants that. Mods and Why Mods are usually over looked or not even known to noobies of the ecig world. these devices can be anywhere from 3.7v to 8.4v. the point is that some people need one of two things, longer battery life with less cost and/or an aggressive throat hit. as a newbie i wouldn't advise a mod above 3.7v that doesn't have the option to go as low as 4.2v if it is not a variable voltage you are stuck on that till you get something lower if you don't like it. i say 4.2v because any 3.7v battery charges UP TO 4.2v. most people love vaping that initial fresh charged battery. voltage drops after usage to as low as 2.9v Mods will use batteries like these these are all 3.7v batteries with a much longer charge life vs a kit ecig. you can find almost all of these batteries from US suppliers for $5 each. a 3.7v mod using the largest battery (18650) can last you 4+ days @ $8 for the battery. some mods can last up to 4+ days before needing to be recharged. I'm not going to go into mods or pictures of mods. you can do that on your own, also watch youtube videos about the mods before thinking its large. the standard ones people use are silver bullet mako tekk mod (prone to cracking at the top unless you find someone that knows how to make them correctly) some sort of wetbox (check reviews of these missys wetbox fails quite often due to her under rated buttons and cost $15 to fix) (there are a crazy amount of mods out there, this is just a small list of the most talked about) Abbreviations General Noob - Beginner OP - Original Post(er) Analog - Regular Cigarette Mod - Homemade device or a Moderator. 2. This list is 3 pages long. The FDA and is trying to ban our eCigs and make us go back to regular tobacco which contains ingredients approved by them. It's quit cold turkey, or go back to cigs and die. Quit or die. I don't believe in banning cigs, ecigs, or lightbulbs. I believe in freedom of choice. Which would you rather choose? Not yet approved eCigs with 4-6 ingredients (PG or VG or both, flavoring, sweetener). or approved cigareetes with something like 4000 ingredients approved by the FDA.... Can't quite yet drop that lingering pack a week? Read this! http://quitsmoking.about.com/cs/nicotineinhaler/a/cigingredients.htm

  3. So I thought I'd drop this little gift before everyone goes home for the holidays. Coming soon to the Vapor Talk Store, Vapor Gel. I would normally post this in the store area but because this is actually quite a significant change in the way we use liquid I thought I'd post here. I've posted some pictures below for everyone to have a look at. We have some samples that due arrive this week and I'll be sure to create a video for everyone to see how the new product works. No more leaking, longer usage. Due to arrive 2nd or 3rd month of 2011. It will be available at the Vapor Talk Store and Vapor Galaxy. Special thanks to Luke for his help.

  4. Go Jeff!! To the OP: Since you know your percentages, and they add up to 100%, there is another simple way to calculate this: Take your percentages, multiply by mg, add them together, and divide by 100. First multiply percentage by mg: 35% at 18 mg=35*18 (35*18=630) 50% at 4 mg =50*4 (50*4 =200) 15% at 24 mg=15*24 (15*24=360) Now, add your totals together: 630+200+360=1190 Now, since that makes 100%, didvide your total by 100: 1190/100=11.9 In essence, you are trying to find the average nicotine in the bottle. Hope that helps!

  5. This has happen to me too. I found that if I take a pack of book matches, (you know, the old time, pull off a match and strike it on the rough strip)pull off a match, take the end that was pulled off (NOT the match end)and gently put it in your atty. The paper will absorb the excess juice. I got tired of rolling paper towels up and my over active mind came up with this idea. Hope its useful Happy vaping

I Need To Know The Answer

Youre total would be 11.9 mg/ml ( say 12mg/ml) For the 555 you have 15 ml of 4mg/ml which equals 60mg For the RY4 you have 10.5 ml of 18mg/ml which equals 189mg For the Coffee you have 4.5 ml of 24mg/ml which equals 108mg Add those 3 amounts ( 60 +189 + 108) and your total is 357mg Now divide that amount by your total ml which is 30ml The result is 11.9mg/ml

  7. You've some nice toys to play with! What works best for me is to take slow and easy drags. Not much more powerful than inhaling air through your nose/mouth with your mouth closed. hmmm, hard to explain. To get extra vapor and TH, try this: slow & easy 2 or 3 second drag, release button inhale, take another slow & easy 3 or 4 second drag while exhaling a little bit of the previous draw through your nose. Release button, inhale and then exhale for a good 10 minutes lol. Okay, not that much, but *almost!*. Slow and easy wins the race.

LOL I have to laugh. As another new vaper, I can totally relate, spending a lot of time here, looking at new stuff. I have a Joye eGo too, and I love it. I am so glad it was my first purchase. It just feels so good to not have to smoke anymore! Since my e-juice arrived last Friday, I have had a few "bored" moments of thinking "I want a cigarette" and then, thought, "Noooooo, my e-cig tastes a thousand times better." Vape a few minutes and I am perfectly content!

  9. You can buy some 24mg Midnight and mix it 50/50 to get 12mg. Since you like the flavor, this is probably the best option. Or, you can buy some nic and add it to the eliquid, but that will dilute the taste. You can get some 48mg nic and mix it 1 part nic to 2 part eliqid to get 16mg. Using 36mg nic mixed 1 part nic to 2 part eliquid would give you 12mg. In both cases you're using 33% unflavored nic, so that's going to reduce the flavor quite a bit.

    Ego Tank

[Ripple, I'm looking at it but was watching some comments on another forum saying that you shouldn't use darker colored liquids in the tanks. Bear in mind that I'm very new but so far I only have two kinds of juice - one kind of yellow (TV Atomic Cinnacide) and the other dark (TV Cherry Cola) with German Choc Cake and Pina Colada ordered - both 70/30 PV/VG. Have you heard that those might not be good in the tank system?

    Ego Tank

I have a question about the tank. Would you suggest getting the longer battery for it or is the standard eGo enough? How long are the tank Attys lasting? Thanks

Welcome openminde you are into a mind blowing way of life. You have done well with your purchases because your Tornado Tank battery and your eGo battery are one in the same just different names, made by the same company. You will have to use the tank atomizers with the tank system and from what I have read you will have to use the atomizer that will come with the Leo with only the Leo. Are you somewhere you will be able to order and get your supplies? I have not smoked in over three months and I was a pack a day smoker for 48 years and quit the first week I started vaping. It is the greatest thing I know to substitute for smoking. Good luck with your adventure.

In the vaping world there is no such thing as having too many supplies !!! You will love vaping. The Ego will be a great place to begin learning the tricks of vaping, but I am sure you will be playing with all your new toys I love being to vape anytime and anywhere I want. No more waiting for that next cigarette, no stink either. You are in for an amazing adventure.

Welcome! The spending does level off once you figure out your vaping habits, what works for you....figure out what kinds of flavors you like etc. My husband and I calculated this whole thing out. In the first several months we had spent WAY more than we would have smoking for that time, HOWEVER, then it dropped off dramatically as we weren't buying new hardware all the time, just the liquid since we were cleaning our cartos. So we have spent about 60-65% less than smoking overall. But even if it cost the same, we would do it, for us it was about the health aspect, not the money....that was just a bonus. Have fun playing with your new toys.....and feeling healthier! I smoked 2-3 ppd for 30 years, and have NO desire to ever smoke again!! It does take some getting used to, it is different than smoking, so be patient!

Well, I can totally relate. I've spent several hours a night the last few weeks reading and watching vids. I just joined VT because the people here are really great. I've been going a little overboard (ordering form the same company 2 days later before the original order arrives). I've done that a few times now because I get excited about something and dive in. But, how much money did you spend smoking? Think about not just the smokes, but lighters, new clothes, washing more often, burnt car seats, etc. I think it's money well spent. My wife, who hasn't seen a bill yet, thinks I'm crazy but is more than happy to be around me (and even kiss more often because I don't smell or taste like cigs. No matter what, vaping is better than smoking any day! VT has been awesome in welcoming me and you'll be happy here. I'm sure Chris would be happy to fulfill your vaping needs as well!!

Wow, openminde... You give new credence to the phrase, "Backups, backups, backups." Congratulations on swan diving headlong into vaping. I am sure you will not be disappointed in your purchases. Even if the eGo and the Leo are the same device, you will not need to buy attys or spare batteries for quite some time, and I have heard lots of rave reviews on the tank. Make sure you post any subtle differences in the units. This can give us newer vapers more information on which to base a purchase decision. And no matter how much you spend on hardware and juice, you cannot put a price on your health. Happy vaping.^^

Welcome to VT Gone Wild and welcome to the world of vaping. The whole concept is relatively new here too, but the word is getting out thanks to celeb's and movies. The e-cig industry is growing quickly, but the US government has decided to get involved. Their not getting their cut of taxes like they get with analogs. New Yorkers have been hit hard by the governments paddle. I'm sure there will be a ripple effect and other states will jump on the band wagon. Vapers must unite and stop the government. It sounds like you got a lot of new toys to play with. You know what they say "The only difference between men and boys are the cost of their toys" LOL. Well, in the case of e-cigs, that saying goes for women too. Just speaking for myself. There are a lot of really great video's here on VT that explains how to use your e-cigs to the fullest of their abilities. Also, how to clean atty's, refill and clean carts and cartos, and reviews on different ecigs and e liquid. Depending on what the vendor uses in their liquid, will effect the TH and the amount of vapor you get. After buying a couple of duds, I found this forum. I am not a proud owner of the eGo and I am loving every puff. I ordered the Tornado Tank system to add to my eGo battery. It came in this past Saturday, but it was DOA. That happens sometimes. I ordered it from Totally Wicked and they quickly responded to my email. I sent it back to them yesterday. Everything I have read on VT about their customer service, I'm not expecting any problems and I'm looking forward to either and new one or my being repaired. I can wait! You have to check out www.vaporrenu.com . They have some great juice and you can customize your juice. There is also a coupon code you can use that will save you 15% "nujuice". Return customers can save 10% by using coupon code "renu". The people here on VT are really friendly and will answer any questions you have. They have loads of experience. Also, check out VT Store. They ship out at lighting speed and they too will answer and questions you might have about the products. Happy vaping in Africa

  18. I was using a LR 901 atty from Eastmall.com This Fog has a consistent hit, but I only got about 18 puffs with the unit being full, you would get more puffs using a higher ohm atty, but that is not my type of vape. Overall for me it is a PAIN IN THE *** to refill each time I paid $64.70 including shipping from Greece, I will sell it to you for the same plus $4.80 priority shipping. My email is smokie901@gmail.com UPDATE 2/2/11 Here is the video from funstore on how to fill the fog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9hIEs... as you can see about 14 drops dripped out after filling, I always get 22 drops that drip out. I also today filled the atty with liquid then putting on the extension, giving the unit more liquid to hold which did last longer then my original 18 hits, now it lasted about 32 hits. I also tried to put a 808 carto in it which was 2.5 ohms, but it was too big to fit in the tube. Others told me that 2.0 ohm cartos fit, and to fill the carto first with liquid, BUT remember YOU MUST drill a air hole in the carto for it to work just like the 901 atty has, and in the same spot. I still have the same opinion on this device, will not make even 2 hours of vaping for me, and just a pain to refill each time. Please subscribe to me for the latest deals, steal, and Giveaways http://www.youtube.com/user/step07726... You are all invited to come Hang out on my show, so we can vape together, Saturday Nights at 10 PM eastern time http://www.stickam.com/elixirtv2 and during week nights with our other hosts.
