  1. Make my own. they are just simple little 0.5 ohm 26g 4.5 wrap coils. I don't even bother measuring resistance anymore. made the same coil over and over. tried dual coils, tried fancy wraps and different gauges and ohms...always come back to the 26g 0.5ohm because the vapor and flavor is just right and it doesn't chug through a bottle of juice a day like a dual coil setup does and then burn the wick in 5 minutes.. lol

That said, when I pinch the wraps and position it, I do fire it as hot as it will go and make sure I don't have hot spots or uneven heating. Sometimes 1 wrap will get much hotter than the rest which is a weak spot in the wire. when I see that I toss the whole coil out and wrap another one.

I've had the same spool of wire for almost 2 years now and still have tons of wire left... cost me $9 for that spool 2 years ago. made tons of coils and they last quite a while. I replace them when they get too gummed up and dont want to burn off anymore, or when the wire gets hot spots in it. save yourself a fortune in coils building them yourself and replacing on an as needed basis rather than replacing just to replace. o0

wicks on the other hand...I replace those twice a week or more. bought a box of japanese cotton a year ago and i've barely made a dent in it. get tons of wicks out of each square pad.

    I'm still rockin the KF4

    had the KFL before that.

  2. I find myself doing both.

I like to chill on the couch watching a show and chooch on that thing like an old steam engine.

Then the girl gets pissed off that the whole room has a haze of vapor floating around, so I stop for a while till she leaves the room, then I'm right back at it building up my cloud again :D

  3. Congrats!

I'm at 10 months now myself. Seems like smoking was a lifetime ago now lol 12 years of smoking ended for me on april 9th 2014.

I tried vaping several times before that but it was hit and miss due to cheap poor quality chinesium equipment. When I finally got a decent device working properly, that is when I put down the analogs and haven't looked back!

  4. Does anyone else who uses Koh Gen Doh peel off the stiffer outer layer of the pad? I do and user just the inner portion. I'm not sure if there is any difference but it has become a habit.

I peel off the outter layers.

Just because it fits more easily through the 2mm coils without said outter layers in place.

With them in place it is too thick/stiff to get through the coil which would cause performance problems.

I am finally down to my last piece of my first pad of cotton and I bought that stuff a good month ago or so... rewick every 2 days. Those pads last a good while!

  5. Very nice build Mr. Smith. How does it vape?

On a side note I just built a double barrel coil on my Lemo. Wow so much room compared to this build on my 91%. I was able to easily cram a 9/10 wrap 26ga kanthal on a 5/64 mini screwdriver (deck holes were almost too small but the 2 strands did fit). It ohm'd out at .5. I will say this much......I loved the double barrel build on my 91% but with the extra airflow that the Lemo gives....OMG what a great vape. I'll post pics the next time I make it on the Lemo. If you have a Lemo you gotta try this build. You won't be disappointed.

It did alright, but I didn't clean the tank as well as I thought it did and it still had a machine oil taste to it, so I dumped the tank, gave it a nice long alcohol bath rinsed it out, and rebuilt it with 28g just cause I felt like it lol.

so now it is down to ~0.43ohms putting me right at the limit of two of my 3 batteries (3rd is a vtc5)

no real point in posting another picture as the build looks pretty much identical other than the wire being slightly thicker. But that 28g dual build really chooches out some vapor and flavor! nice thick billowing clouds :) so smooth and tasty. very flavorful.

I have contemplated going back to a single coil 26g build though as the batteries last longer and vapor comes in faster for longer on the battery. getting below 0.5ohms is great for clouds but in a dual setup takes a bit longer to heat the coils vs single coil setups (in my experience anyway) and I like rapid fire builds. all about that instant gratification :D

  6. I have actually found a few different controllers, but I want more airflow , not less. Maybe I should just stick with my PT2's and the Kanger controller. Thanks for the info though!!1

more airflow requires hole drilling to increase the size of the air channels. airflow controllers only limit the airflow from what the tank already has.

an iclear 30s is not the best tank to be drilling into. You would be better off with a different tank all together.

  7. Mr Smith was talking about clones and suggested the kayfun v4 clone. I've noticed that the clones are a lot cheaper and accessible than the "real" heads. Are they trustable? What materials are best? Should I count on a head that has a combination of materials or just stick to glass and stainless steel? Who makes better clones or are most clones reputable?

I have a tobeco clone. Works great. and is of good quality.

I hear robbottech makes a good clone as well.

EHPro also makes a very good clone. I have a kayfun nano+ clone from EHPro and it is a nice quality piece.

Stay away from clones that don't list th manufacturer of the clone... completely no-namer clones can be hit and miss. a buddy of mine got a no name KF4 clone recently and is having problems with it.

  8. http://www.madvapes.com/tank-airflow-controller.html

    nonsense.

it's just a part that stacks on your 510 connection...

tank sits on top of it and the ring on it will adjust upward against the base of the tank limiting its airflow since that tank gets its airflow from the bottom 510 connection unlike newer designs that get their air from the side of the tank.

for $3 it's not much of a gamble...

Never used one of those, but I have used the ring on my vamo as an airflow controller before.

  9. I mix strawberry and kiwi flavors (by 'True') together and then add a few drops of that mix in my "miss white" (by 'Alpha')

    quite a delicious mix.

miss white by itself is quite delicious, but you need a sub tank, or an RBA/RTA to really get an appreciation for miss white because it is not a very strong flavor. I couldn't taste it at all out of clearomizers. It wasn't until I got a RTA that I truely experienced the flavor and fell inlove with it.

miss white = raspberry, dragonfruit, herbal tea mix.

  10. kayfun V4 clone all the way.

great for newbs to advanced. Love the fact that you don't need to drain the tank anymore to access the build deck incase you need to rewick, adjust, or just feel like making a new build...

here is what it looks like when you access the build deck with a full tank. (upper section/tank is on the left, build deck is on the right)

and the tank sitting on my magneto mech mod:

    20150112_204827_zpsdf2998b4.jpg

adjustable airflow, adjustable juiceflow, top fill, dual coil ready, handle whatever setup you feel like building.

the setup in the first picture is a simple single wick-dual coil build using 32g wire. 5.5 or 6 wraps each... (1.6ohm by themselves, or 0.8ohm as a pair)

  11. The Atlantis on a CF mod is what I want. How much juice does it hold? As long as it's bigger than a mini Nautilus, I'm good, but hear people remark that it's smaller than they'd like. I do get better flavor from every mini I've owned, though.

They don't hold a large amount of juice like some of the other tanks, but probably comparable to te nautilus mini. maybe a little less because of the area that coil takes up.

They are pretty easy to fill up though.

  12. First build on the new Kayfun V4 clone...

and it even has a completely full tank in this picture! (tank/upper section on the left, build deck/airflow and juiceflow control/lower section on the right)

    20150112_204635_zpsa55bfe09.jpg

simple 32g dual coil build with a single japanese cotton wick. Came out to 0.8ohms.

  13. robbottech has one out now too as well as a few others. Seems even gold and black versions are available now lol.

price range for all is $35 and under. focalecig also has an unnamed clone of it out and available from their US warehouse for under $30 with free shipping... Seems like they plan to flood the market with these things for a reasonable price. good news for us! :D

Kinda makes you wonder why the authentic goes for $200 when they can crank out clones for under $30 and flood the market with them...

would think the authentics could mass produce and sell for much less and eliminate cloners all together because there would be no point in getting a clone if the authentic didn't cost a small fortune.

  14. This seems to be a new vaper, can you explain what type of alcohol you meant?

rubbing alcohol or everclear. everclear would probably work better as it has a very high alcohol content and no flavor.

the idea is to soak the coil and tank in alcohol for a couple hours which will help break up and remove juice residue buildup on the wicks and coils and gets rid of any lingering bad flavors that might have contaminated your tank/wick. then remove the tank and coils from the alcohol and rinse under warm water and let them air dry on the counter.

once dry, reassemble juice it up and give it a try. If the coil is still good, it should perform and taste like new again.

  15. I'm lightyears ahead of what I started off with, but my first attempt at vape was a cig-a-like many years ago and it worked okayish until the atomizer died on it. and there just wasn't any support for them really back then.

it never got me off cigs, and i tried another starter kit thing that just ended up leaking and making a mess. again another failed attempt.

I didn't reach success until I tried an aspire ET-S tank and a ego-C twist battery.

that was my first success at quitting smoking. and since then my tanks and batteries have evolved to larger and more advanced gear.

I have finally mostly settled with my kayfun lite+ RTA and a magneto mech mod with a handful of 18650 batteries. It is my daily goto setup. I use nothing else now. even for travel, driving, etc. it is leak free and problem free. However I wouldn't suggest starting off with an RTA as they do have a slight learning curve and they can be high maintenance since I change my wick every 2 tank fills.

  16. Is the Aspire battery tube marketed for use with the Atlantis? I've been wanting one since I heard they were available. Do the coils last a long time? I noticed they're a bit pricey. I had a dripper built by the owner of Origin Vapes; it's a Tugboat/Anarchist, but I never use it. I don't have time to build coils, which is a shame as it's a beautiful device. The Atlantis sounds perfect for me.

it's called the Aspire "CF Mod"

It's basically a hybrid mod that is a cross between a mech mod and a ego battery... it turns on and off like an EGO, and has short protection and low voltage protection, but other than that: it works like a mech mod in the fact it fires sub ohm, and gives straight battery power from an 18650 battery.

They also have the "CF Sub" which is for the most part the same thing, but the battery is not removeable and takes a special charger...not ideal in my book because when the battery needs a recharge, the mod is useless until it is charged and you are without a battery for 4hrs vs the CF mod you just have more than one 18650 battery, and swap the battery out of the tube to a fresh battery and throw the other on the charger and you are back in business in a few seconds.

The coils do seem to last a while. She has been using the same coil since christmas eve, and hasn't had any issues with it.

Usually when her tanks stop performing as well or get a funky taste, she will let them soak in alcohol for a couple hours and rinse them off and air dry them on the counter, put them back together and continue using them. She has gotten a good month + out of her nautilus coils by doing this.

Coils usually last quite a while, just wicks end up getting gummed up by the juise residue and need cleaned. silica wicks that these things typically run do not get burned and are burn resistant vs cotton wicks in rebuildable tanks (like my kayfun) burn easily and need changed out regularly to maintain performance and flavor.

Unless you get a bad coil or are having leaking problems, coils usually last quite a while.

the atlantis comes with a spare coil and a spare pyrex glass section of the tank as well.

  17. V4 looks to solve all problems the previous generations had. No more whistle, no more draining the tank to rebuild, dual coil ready, pyrex glass center section, juice flow control, adjustable airflow, adjustable 510 pin not holding the deck down anymore, changeable connection, and clones are available already for $30 from tobeco! Soooo getting one! Love my kfl+ but my biggest complaints about it are both fixed in v4...those being whistle, and need to drain to access build deck...

Oh another new feature: top filling! Shut off juice flow and open up the top to fill...threads are recessed on 2 sides to prevent pressure build until the last thread. Once top is back on, twist the bottom to open up juice flow again.

Pbusardo has already done an excellent review on this tank.
