  1. Thank you all very much for your input. (A special shout out to FTJOE! Haven't seen you in a long time, buddy ) I'm glad I came here for advice once again as I was under the impression that the low resistance attys had somehow killed the battery, and are in general "battery killers" if you aren't using the correct "High-drain" "High mah" units... (Maybe I'm watching too many Grimm Green reviews, lol) That mega-battery sounds like it would do the trick nicely! I think for now that is the path I'll go down, should be a great help with battery life as well... I may even get my normal 6+ hours out of one! I really do enjoy my eGo and hate to consider switching it out... Now that you all have given me a good dose of reason (I was a little worked up concerning the strange death of the battery :-P) I realize that more than likely it was just that battery's time to go... I have had my eGo set more or less since they released it... which I can not seem to pin down to an exact month in my mind, but it must've been 5-6 months ago... Thanks once again to everyone that replied... I'll be hanging around the forum rest assured... but for now I shall return to my shadowy lurking -Alucard
  2. Hello one and all! It has been some time since my last post here at the vapor talk forum. I have hovered around on and off for awhile just to check on the new happenings in the e-cig world however... The reason I haven't been around very much is because for the last several months I have been totally satisfied with my Janty Ego and the vapor talk juice that has become my staple vaping experience... That is until a couple of weeks ago when I discovered low resistance atomizers... When I first screwed one on I was amazed at the difference, and I didn't even notice a devastating loss in battery life as had been described by others... I used to get 6 hours or so from my Ego batteries with a standard 510 atty, and now that I'm dedicated to using low resistance atomizers I've found they last about 4 hours or so... Which I'm satisfied with... until today... When my one battery ... malfunctioned... I don't know how its possible, but I just stopped getting vapor... I checked everything I could and got nothing.... so I switched to another atty and I still couldn't get a thing... despite the LED continuing to light... so i tried the other battery and it worked with both... So i thought that maybe it just needed a good charge... well... i put it on the charger and the charging light never turned red indicating that the battery was being charged... so in short... I'm throwing my hands up and going back into the market for a new PV, but this time something that can handle low resistance atomizers... My requirements for my new PV are as follows: 1. It must not be too much larger than my ego (or a spade) I've found that this is a good size for me and anything larger I feel awkward with in public, and receive too much unwanted attention from police officers (I live in an urban area where illegal drug use is very common and apparently vaping a huge mod draws this sort of attention) 2. It has to accept a battery that is known for at least 4-6 hours of life (using a low resistance atty.) Anything less becomes a pain at work or when I go out in the evening... For instance I've heard nothing but horrible things with the 10440... 3. I would prefer if it was set up for a 510 connection since I'm used to this over other atomizers and already have a stockpile :-P Please let me know what you guys dig up! I know that there are many knowledgeable individuals on this board who have helped me many times in the past... I greatly appreciate your opinion! Best Regards! -Alucard
  3. Hello! If you're looking for the "ultimate" at home vaping experience to date I highly recommend the VP-PT... I have had one for a little while now and it performs amazingly well... Its of a good solid construction and produces consistent, powerful vapor... You get more of everything at 5 volts... more vapor... more flavor... more throat hit... you can't beat it... As far as a portable device goes it all depends what your tastes are... So far I've had the VP-PT, a couple 510s and a spade... I've enjoyed them all and although the spade is in the shop for some battery life problems I would still recommend it... and you can always count on chris and company to take care of you if anything ever goes wrong with anything you get from them... On the other hand I have recently ordered an Ego which I'm very excited about... Keep in mind that I recommend these devices for performance, but also for size and aesthetics... (I prefer my portables sleek and small... but with good battery life)... such is my quest... Also keep in mind that we are on the eve of the Joker's release... and of course the ever elusive Masarati... I'm not recommending these as I have no experience or even knowledge of these devices... Just food for thought... -Alucard
  4. ah! That shows you how much attention I pay! I am very sorry Brian! It does look like you have a few drops left however... maybe if you turn them all upside down for awhile you can get one last good vape in a time of desperate need until your next shipment arrives! -Alucard
  5. Nice! I like TT quite a lot, but only at 3.7 volts... for some reason tt at 24mg on my passthru makes me feel like I'm going to pass out... yet mentha of the same mg is very nice at high voltage... -Alucard
  6. Ah! Thank you for clearing this up chris! So indeed the resistance would make a passthrough equal in power to any standard 3.7 volt device... well... I guess the alternative to the so called high voltage attys is to just stock up on normal attys and hope they hold up... -Alucard
  7. Well... I had my last atty last about a month... but I have heard of them lasting much longer (months)... and then again I have heard of them only lasting a couple of days... I think since they are all manufactured in China there is a quality control issue somewhere along the line... fortunately they are economically priced -Alucard
  8. lol, I'm getting more confused as I learn more about these things... I've heard two very conflicting ideas now... The first is that some people have been using the same atty on their passthrough for months with no problem at all... and the second is that people are just burning through attys like crazy (I have heard reports of some only lasting a few days each time) and thus the need for the high voltage attys... Upon inspecting the site (thanks birddog!) I began reading about resistance and ohms... Now I do have a layman's understanding of these electrical terms, and am I to believe that these high voltage atty's actually reduce the voltage being used? lol... if that is the case then it would be like vaping at 3 volts on a 5 volt pt? Well.. what would the point be to that? I'm hoping someone has some insight here because this is boggling my mind... -Alucard
  9. Hello One and All, I hope that everyone is well here on the VT forum... As of late I have found myself upgrading and dabbling further in the realm of vapory... I have been free of analogs for 83 days and have been vaping for about 1 and 1/2 months and have been thoroughly enjoying it! I started with a 510 which worked just fine (and most of the original equipment is still working flawlessly) , but wanted more so I moved on to the spade which I really enjoy and would recommend to anyone looking for a well made, quality 3.7 volt mod... I have had some trouble with the battery life on this unit as I've heard others have had... one of my original batteries only lasts about 1/2 an hour and the second around 2 hours... I have yet to pass judgment on the culprit in this situation... I have attempted all of the cleaning methods Chris and others have suggested and have found no improvement, but recently purchased two more 14400 batteries in hopes that my original set are what is causing my problem... Even with this issue the spade has become my everyday on-the-go device of choice... I've only had to break out my old 510 kit(s) when the spade's batteries crapped out on me and left me with nothing... that is, until now... I have also come to the conclusion that VT Mentha is my vape of choice after much testing of various juices from various suppliers...FTJoe has also inspired me to aim for 0nic when the time finally comes that I have decided that that is what I want... I took the plunge and picked up the VP-PT and it has officially blown my mind and melted my face... this thing produces more vapor and more flavor than I could have imagined even after watching and reading numerous reviews of the model (Chris' and GrimmGreen's among them naturally...) So far the performance is unbelievable through my Mac's USB... I'm too intimidated to actually plug it into the wall to experience the entire 5 volts of raw vaping power as of yet... It does burn (using this term loosely of course) through quite a bit of juice when compared to the 510 or spade... but that is a small concession for the experience... (or a conspiracy by Chris to make me buy Mentha at greater quantity at a greater frequency...) My question is in regards to the 510 attys I use... I have heard that vaping at a higher voltage will shorten the life of your attys... now I'm not overly concerned, but I have also heard GrimmGreen (have you gathered that he is my favorite reviewer yet? lol) and others mention that "High Volt" attys exist out there somewhere... Is this true? Do they last that much longer on a PV than a standard atty? How much more expensive are they, and where can I get them? -Alucard
  10. Congratulations my friend! You are getting the job I, myself dream of having in a few years! (...but first I must make my way back to school...) Best of luck! -Alucard
  11. Wow! A big thank you goes out to the judge who made this ruling... Way to be level-headed and a true patriot! -Alucard
  12. Congratulations nana! I have just passed the 2 month mark myself and I concur with everything that you've said! Although I went through all of this in a slightly different way in that I stopped smoking for about a month and then at a weak moment chose to order my first ecig (with much help from this forum) rather than buy a pack of cigarettes... So, congratulations to all of us and may we all continue to see healthier, happier versions of ourselves evolve through the coming times! -Alucard
  13. Thanks for all of the tips guys! I'm a couple of hours into this new atty and it's fine now... but wow was it awful starting off... using a stronger flavored juice seemed to help as well (switched from traditional tobacco to mentha)... I'll be sure to try these prepping methods on the next one though... -Alucard
  14. Ah... That's about what I thought... I had never heard of the primer-removing method... I'll have to try that the next time around (a little late now) ... thanks for the advice! -Alucard
  15. So, first let me say thank you to Chris and Sean and everyone at vaportalk for getting my spade and juices to me very quickly! Chris assured me right after I ordered it that I'd have it by wednesday, and here I am vaping away wednesday afternoon! This thing is a monster and very stylish... Just what I was looking for! (And thank goodness I have mentha again... ) Well... I hurriedly unpacked the spade and charged a battery and thought I might as well open a new atty to get things started right... and wow... the spade performs amazingly well... tons of vapor and great throat hit, but my god what a terrible "new atty" taste... I forgot how god-awful it tasted the first time (probably because I didn't know the difference as my first atty has lasted me all this time...) Someone please remind me...How long does it take for the horrible "new atty" taste to go away again? -Alucard
  16. Thanks Chris! I went ahead and put the order in... I can't wait for the spade now (and my juice *went for the exotic tobacco in addition to my regular mentha*)... Will it be shipped before you leave tomorrow? I don't know if I can stand the anticipation any longer than 3 days... (California to Pennsylvania seems to take forever...) Also,,, now that I'll have my spade I can pass on what remains of my old 510 to my wife... as shes always trying to bum my 510 from me at the least opportune moments... -Alucard
  17. I think I'll get the upgraded starter kit... so more mentha is a must... but what other juice do you guys recommend? I've tried the dulcis and liked it a lot, but I want to try something new... I'm currently torn between midnight and grape soda... I've heard so much about both... -Alucard
  18. Hello one and all, Today is a sad day indeed... It has been approximately a month since I received my 510 (my first kit)... and today as I sat in my car at work on my lunch trying to keep warm in the 5 degree weather my first battery suddenly died... no flashing... just dead... so upon returning home (after several HOURS of not vaping)... I plug it into the charger it's not flashing or charging... so I'm left with the crap automatic battery... and some crap juice (Not VT juice... some other stuff I got elsewhere...)... So, now it seems, is the time to make my next pv purchase... and I think that that purchase will be a spade (assuming its currently in stock... because I want something in the next couple of days here...and I know that the store will be down for awhile)... If you read this Chris, could you kindly let me know what that situation is like.... any other suggestions are appreciated as are condolences for my loss. -Alucard
  19. Now I've only tried VT Mentha (in terms of menthol flavored juice)...and I've found it superb! I've emptied the bottle and am now enjoying my non-menthol juices... Which are in their own right quite enjoyable... but, now that the time has come to reorder some menthol juice what have all you vapers found in the line of menthol/mint flavored juices? I'm looking for the coolest, most flavorful menthol/mint taste there is... The more potent, the better. Thoughts? -Alucard
  20. Is the joye510 mega battery larger (in length or girth) than the standard 510 battery? Also... is it compatible with the standard 510 battery charger? -Alucard
  21. lol @ jason... hey its cool... at first when I read that I thought you were stalking me or just purely insane tho :P ... I was going to ask about the 306... that might be what I'm looking for as I have two 510 kits and it would be nice to make a purchase that is compatible with the stuff I already have... Is there a model that is in black like the 510 by chance? After some research all I have seen is the "cigarette" motif... thanks to all of you for your posts... I'm researching and rolling it all over... also is there a difference between the 306 and the 306a? -Alucard EDIT: Upon review of your site Jason, I do see that indeed you have the model in black... so I guess my only other question is if I buy a 306 atty and a 306 battery I'll be good to go with my 510 charger and carts?
  22. Well... I've had my joye 510 for awhile now... It feels like two weeks, but that could be longer than it really has been. At any rate I find it an all around good device. One battery lasts me all 8+ hours at work (not actual vaping time... but all my vape-breaks combined), and another one lasts me the rest of the evening at home... The only time I feel the need for longer battery life is when I find myself out (and usually having forgot my backup battery) and the battery dies halfway through the evening... Now the size of the 510 I've come to like quite a bit and would really not go much larger for several reasons. 1) It fits nicely in my pocket 2) It "feels" a lot like a cigarette (or a small cigar) and 3) It is small enough so as not to draw unnecessary attention (not that I mind answering questions about e-cigs from those that are curious, but rather that I prefer to "blend" in when I'm in a coffee house, bar, etc. So, at the moment I'm quite pleased, but am left considering a few options. In the future I may purchase a mod for occasions when I'm doing heavier vaping at home (or a passthrough)...*waiting to see how the masarati, joker, etc stack up* but for everyday use (where smaller size is important to me) I'm left wondering if there are currently other pvs out there that would perform any better than my 510... (or as a backup)... So what do you think? Is there anything out there the size of a 510 (or smaller) with decent battery life and performance? If not, is there anything in the pipeline with these attributes taken into consideration? -Alucard
  23. Awesome! I've been waiting for your review all day! -Alucard
  24. Hey all, In my new quest to find an e-cig that has an extended battery life while maintaining an atleast somewhat sleek profile I've stumbled upon the Janty Ego which is now available for pre-order... After reviewing the description on Janty's official page I'm still left wondering a few things... first... it says that the battery is 600mah... that is HUGE... right? Anyone have any idea how long that would translate to in actual usage time? Also... at what volage does this model run at? I have yet to find any mention of this anywhere I've looked... Have any reviewers got their hands on these to test them out and come to a conclusion yet? I've searched youtube to no avail except for a prototype demonstration by a Janty rep (I'm assuming)... -Alucard
  25. I was just asking about this yesterday! Now, when you say "coming soon" ... how soon do you mean?
