  1. That's great info Prof, so many devices fail early. We all need to know what the most reliable ones are, which could save many early vapers from potential frustration and budget issues. Thanks!
  2. These fine folks have described all the differences between VG and PG perfectly. VG produces more vapor and less TH and perhaps flavor, while PG gives great TH and flavor and can dry out your mouth and throat when you vape a lot of it. Because I vape 6V, PG was too harsh for me and the flavor tended to taste somewhat 'burned.' So in my DIY I started moving towards more VG and a higher proportion of flavor. This still gives decent TH because I'm a high-nic guy, produces clouds of lovely vapor, and delivers good flavor on top of it all. My mixes have 50-70% VG, usually with the only PG being what comes with the flavoring. This works for me and I think I've found my sweet spot at long last.
  3. I dig threads like this because you can get so much information from them. Like many others I've used a ton of different devices and finally settled on the Saber from Vapor Moon. It's very similar in size to the Silver Bullet, but has a touch-sensitive switch rather than a mechanical one, and comes with a five year warranty. I've been using my Saber for a couple months now and have had no problems. I vape it at 6V with my own DIY liquid for a perfectly tailored vape. I get clouds of vaper, great TH and flavor; what's not to love? Anyone could do this with any 6V device, I just settled on the Saber (which was a very close run to the SB). I'm definately a high voltage guy; 3.7 will never do it for me again, unless I'm running a LR atty and even then you have to live with the short useful life of the LRs. Nope, voltage rules in this household! When she vapes, my wife uses the VP PT at 5V with a cartomizer and is very satisfied with that.
  4. Interesting thread. I tried one RY4 once and it sucked so bad I never wanted to try RY4 again! Yuck! Since I'll have an HC order coming up in a week or so, I'll order some of theirs and see if Ben is crazy. If he is, I'll certainly let you all know... The bad RY4 I got was from My Freedom Smokes, and believe me when I say - Yuck! Edit to add, I've always like everything else I bought from MFS; just the RY4 made me gag. Stuck in the atty like crap too; that was not a pleasant experience.
  5. Pffft! Women are too easy. All we have to do is act like we're in compliance and we get to do whatever we can sneak in.
  6. Chicks. Good God, how do we live with them!? They drive us bat-freak crazy every freakin day, and it never, ever lets up.
  7. Excellent work Hodge! That's what we like to see, our members helping out the rest of the band. Way to go brother, thanks. That was the best direct dripping how to I've seen yet. One thing I'd like in your next vid is to see more eye contact. I know you're watching the monitor, but you'll want to look directly into the camera to make us feel like you're talking to us. You have a wonderful manner, I want to see more vids from you. Keep them coming!
  8. That's really a very good question and you've gotten some excellent advice. What I did was buy many small bottles (10 ml or smaller) of many different flavors until I found what I liked. Then I'd buy a larger, like 30-60 ml bottle, of the flavors I knew I would be vaping consistently. Some vendors sell sample packs of liquid, which is always a good way to try different flavors. Then buy bulk what you know you'll be vaping. You will save money on the per-ml price and on shipping this way. For what it's worth, I have about a two-year supply of liquid on hand. I'm not prepared to risk my vaping to the whims of the FDA and have stocked up like there is no tomorrow. I fill in what I use every couple of months. A while back I started to mix all my own liquid, which makes having a sufficient stock for about any eventuality pretty easy.
  9. OMG -- Can you spell *-u-s-s-y? I can't believe I just saw that. Brian, there are some things we are better off not knowing!
  10. LOL! I dig o-rings! Great review, sexy device and it even looks good in hot pink! Not that you'd find me carrying a pink PV... I agree about ENS too, I've always had great service from Jason, highly recommended. You scored on this review, +1.
  11. +1 OP, this is a great thread! It must be good for newbies to hear all the different ways we have managed to succeed with our ecigs. I had a rather torturous road. Started out with a KR808D from V4L that wasn't all that potent but after using it for a couple of weeks I started to realize that I preferred it to my analogs. I'd pick up the KR sooner than a cigarette more all the time. Then came my VP2 with an 801, and that is what gave me enough oomph to give up the analogs completely. Still, it was hard work getting enough production out of it to really be satisfied. Next I tried a 510 atty on the VP2 and that was far and away a huge improvement! Finally though, I had my first 6V experience and I haven't looked back. Vaping a 510 at 6V is better than smoking in every way -- totally a substitute for the TH from an analog, with so many great flavor choices there just is no comparison to smoking. Why anyone would continue to smoke when they can vape is beyond me. Congratulations to all you successful vapers! You've chosen a healthier lifestyle and hopefully will pass that along to your friends and loved ones. Vape on!
  12. I think vegetable glycerin refers to the source of the glycerin. I've never seen a commercial container of glycerin that said it was VG. I had this same concern when I bought my first bottle of the stuff. So long as it says it's USP glycerin, you're golden. USP guarantees a level of manufacturing purity.
  13. This is cool; I just got some cotton candy from Health Cabin too, so will be trying it the next time I feel in a recipe mood. I've been perfectly happy with the TW Americano and HC's 555 for quite a while now though. I guess I'm just easy to please.
  14. After a couple days of DV Americano from TW, I'm back to Health Cabin 555. I just love my tobacco flavors lately, and these two are very satisfying for me. I can switch between them every couple days to keep the flavor going, and be quite happy.
  15. I have a very direct approach to breaking in a new atty, because I am not the most patient man and I hate the taste of a new atty. Here's my method, for what it's worth. First I blow as much of the primer liquid out as I can, and soak it up inside with the corner of a paper towel. When I've done that I drip about five-six drops inside the atty and let it soak in for a minute or two. Then I hot box the hell out of it until it starts to get warm (no inhaling), and drip five or six more to repeat. Usually by then my atty is good to go. This does sound like a stubborn one, and Neo probably isn't off the mark suggesting it's DOA. You shouldn't have to suffer with a new atty. Breaking in a new atty is suffering enough when it works properly!
  16. Wow Schizo, I wish I could give you +5 for that one brother. Amen. Your nasty taste is either from a too-dry atty or an atty that's not broken in yet. My vote is for too dry. I totally recommend direct dripping; cartridges just taste nasty unless they're totally full and draining a lot of liquid onto the atty. Direct dripping gets around that; three or four drops should be good for seven or eight drags off your 510. Remove the cartridge filler, and drip liquid directly onto the silver bridge inside the atty. Replace the mouthpiece and you're ready to go. Like Schizo said, there's a learning curve to vaping and break in can take a while, depending on your drags and the individual atomizer. I usually just "hot box" it the first couple of loads of liquid to break in a new atty, then start vaping it. I never, ever, use cartridges! Yuck. Good luck and hang in there. You'll get it down. We all went through this.
  17. What a smarta**! Lotion only works until you wash your hands, brother. This is the only thing that makes me think the SB would have a leg up, and that's only for some people. The contact button really is a great idea. Other upside is the five year warranty! Try to beat that anywhere. And Sir Lawrence does stand behind it. It's a great mod, I wouldn't want to live without it. Still, I find myself wanting a silver bullet still sometimes, and probably have one in my distant future. It's just the golden standard for 6V mods. It's beautiful and works like a charm for everyone who has one. Can't go wrong with the silver bullet!
  18. The only downside is dry skin; I have very dry skin so it doesn't always make contact. I sometimes have to dampen my thumb to make contact.
  19. I don't know what Viking Vapor uses, but I bought a lot of liquid from My Freedom Smokes before I started DIY in earnest. I think MFS uses Lorann's flavorings for a lot of their liquid, just based on my experiences using Lorann's. It was MFS watermelon that I noted the change in too, for what that's worth. And yes I believe it was temperature-induced. I think you're okay but I'll be interested in hearing what VV has to say.
  20. We're always going to face willful ignorance. Moneyed interests support these falsehoods and there really is nothing to be done about it other than getting our more moderate position out there as best we can. Keep in mind too that there will always be unquestioning people who accept these articles at face value. That's just the way people are. We have to let them live too, regardless how painful that may be. The jerks.
  21. Yep, that's happened to me too. I don't think it's affected the quality of the liquid though. Unless it tastes radically different, I wouldn't sweat it too much. It's unsettling though, to be sure. Anyway, you're not crazy.
  22. I've said it for a loooong time -- voltage rules. You're getting the idea! I'm glad you like your SB, I use a Saber; it's basically the same thing with a non-mechanical switch, and I love it. SB was my golden standard until I got this bad boy. Congratulations on your new Silver Bullet!
  23. Sign me up on the FTJoe bandwagon too. It hasn't made me cough up a lung but that first hit can sure be a doozy in the morning. I think those that suggested a couple fresh drops are spot on for this one. Good luck!
  24. That's a great project. I will try to find something worth auctioning for your film. I'll see what I can find and any proceeds will be yours. Good luck with all your endeavors.
