  1. Electronic Smokers Magazine is now onboard and just did an article.requesting everyone to ask Schwarzenegger to veto it.
  2. Arnold just posted this on Twitter "I hear a lot of stories about the creative ways people are making it through hard times, starting businesses, etc. Tell me your stories." So why don't you tell him "a story about how you started a business" that SB400 is about to destroy? Other suppliers could do the same!
  3. Chris, as someone pointed out, Schwarzenegger is also on Twitter and he reads & uses it on his Blackberry. TWEET HIM! & just tell him in one or two sentences to veto SB400 and save electronic cigarettes from being banned. I've written, called, emailed AND tweeted. If you are already on Twitter, it's easy. Just put @Schwarzenegger if you want him to read it. It's a direct line to him, especially important when time is so short. If you aren't on Twitter yet, there is no better time because we'll pretty much all do it sooner or later and it takes about 5 minutes to sign up.
  4. Thanks Munkus! I've got 50 people coming to my house for a barbecue in less than 6 hours, but I've been online writing and posting for us on this issue as much as I can! Posted it to Free Republic, Shrugd, Liberty Post, and one of the e-cig forums on Facebook, as well as pushed non-vaper friends to email the Gov. Think that I am done for now, until tomorrow!
  5. Another Email or Letter Template: Dear Governor Schwarzenegger, Please do not sign SB400! This was a bill that was originally designed to keep electronic cigarettes out of the hands of children, a purpose which we would have all agreed with in its original form. However SB400, somehow in a matter of a few days, morphed into a complete "prohibition of of the sale of electronic cigarettes in California" and passed in the Senate, while we were commemorating 9/11 and had absolutely no time to protest its altered scope and intention. This bill does not represent the will of the people of the State of California! Although not sold as a "quit smoking device", thousands have successfully used the electronic cigarette to quit or or greatly reduce their tobacco smoking and reduce the health risks associated with the combustion of tobacco. Prohibiting the sale of the e-cigarette will not only return many to smoking cigarettes, it could also create a new black market in e cig material that will turn ordinary citizens into "criminals of the State" just to get their nicotine in a safer form. SB400 was a good intention, run amok. The same arguments re "flavors appealing to children" could also be used to bar the sale of Peppermint Schnapps. California is losing jobs, and we will now be shutting down e cigarette businesses? It makes no sense. Please Governor Schwarzenegger, represent us where our legislators failed us and don't sign SB400 into law! Sincerely, Me
  6. I don't mind it being regulated; but it needs to be done reasonably. I'm sure good decisions and bad decisions will be made, just hopefully we come out on top ok. In general, I agree with you. But the California legislature? These are the same people who ran one of the top 10 world economies into the ground. I don't tend to have much confidence in their rational decision-making capabilities on anything, let alone e cigs. But then again, I don't have much choice.
  7. Sacramento Bee Article 8/15/09 I've got no problem with the concept of "age verification" -- it's the process of doing it that's the problem when things are done by mail order. And the recommendation for the "ban until the FDA approves e cigs" is just nonsense. California is falling apart and they are focusing on e-cigs? It's just politicians rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I have a Joye PCC for the 510 -- just got it in the mail yesterday. It works fine with my manual batteries -- it has an extra channel down the side of the charging hole that accommodates manual batteries. Bought it from Widows Beadwork after I saw someone mention it on VaporTalk.
  9. My last allergist told me that the nicotine in cigarettes was actually surprisingly beneficial to asthma sufferers because it mimicked adrenaline which is the substance they give to someone having severe allergic reactions. He said, "If only they could get rid of the smoke in cigarettes & keep the nicotine, it wouldn't so bad." (This was 5 years ago, in the pre-vaping days.) The doctor also said that he had seen quite a lot of patients whose asthma only first surfaced AFTER they quit smoking -- especially if they did it "cold turkey". Although he'd prescribe an albuterol inhaler for their immediate problems, he said that he also usually recommended a nicotine patch to step the nicotine down gradually rather than immediately putting them on steroids for the asthma as a lot of doctors do. He said that although a few of these "just-quit ex-smokers" ultimately required the Advair or other steroid inhalers to control their asthma long-term, most of them required little or no meds at all once their bodies achieved homeostasis (balance) again in about six months. I think that this allergist would have loved vaping!
  10. That's great, Christopher! Thank you -- you answered all my questions!
  11. Most people are shocked at the idea that someone with asthma would ever smoke, but in fact my asthma virtually disappeared the day I started smoking at 18 and didn't rear its ugly head for over 25 years. The it came back after a bad case of the flu. Now, I am taking it down slowly and am down to only a couple cigarettes a day, but I am vaping like steam engine and so far, no problems. I've been using VaporNine, although I'd like to try the VG because VG is a more natural substance than PG. Guessing it might cause me less trouble down the line.
  12. How does one find out whether a supplier's juice is PG or VG based? I've now tried a liquid the PG base and would like to try one with a VG base, but none of the supplier's websites that I have seen say which base formula they use. I must admit that the only thing that I have found frustrating about being a newbie vaper, is that while the boards will discuss "PG vs VG", supplier's ads aren't clear about things. You have to contact a supplier to "ask", which is annoying as you have to wait for them to respond before you can do anything. And it isn't just the juice this happens with, it's accessories, too. If something works with a Janty Dura and 510 -- why wouldn't an ad just say "compatible with the Janty Dura and 510"? Why does someone assume that a buyer will know that? Or even be willing to ask if they don't know & then wait for a response? It gets kind of frustrating at times. It's like being initiated into "a club", instead of just being a buyer who wants to purchase something. Please forgive my venting.
  13. I am a newbie (1 mo) and thank God that hasn't happened to me while vaping, but as an asthmatic with allergic asthma, I can tell you that what you are describing sounds like an allergic reaction. It's the same reaction that I get to cats and cat hair -- my lungs tighten up and I can't breathe. You may be allergic to PG.
