I used to loathe being nagged about smoking-someone would nag me about smoking so I would get irritated and smoke even more.(I have a very rebellious nature) I am utterly addicted to vaping-but I'm okay with that. If your friend is not okay with being addicted to a PV, she is the only one in control of her own behavior, and therefore the only one who can change it. The best thing you can do is be the good friend that you are, and be supportive.

Drawbacks? Nope, no drawbacks at all.

Well, if you don't count that obsession thing. The one where you just HAVE to have it in your hand at all times, where you just HAVE to see what's going on in VT all the time, where you just HAVE to check out all the new PVs, where you just HAVE to have some of those new PVs, where you just HAVE to have lots and lots of backups, where you just HAVE to try ALL of the flavors out there...you know...that obsession.

Oh wait!! I know one!! A carton of analogs, an ashtray, and a lighter take up a LOT less space than the hoard stash of vaping supplies. I never once, in 34 years of smoking, ever considered having a special room set aside for my smoking supplies...but for vaping supplies, well...

I have a very dear old friend who vapes way too much. Her cousin got her into Vapor 4 Life and it just is not working for her.

She was visiting me recently and I noticed how much she vaped, not 4 minutes went by before she had that ecig in her mouth again. She looked like a junkie on crack. Her batteries are always depleted and she waits until she runs out before she loads up her cartridges (I counted over 25 of them). She had 4 batteries when she came here then lost two of them at another friends house. Well she finally got back to my house and had to use my Riva.
I may use mine 2-4 times a day. I have never really run my battery until it died completely, nor do I run out of juice within the hour that she used it before running out of juice.

I told her that she needs to up her mgs of nicotine but she said that she does not. Currently she is using 18 mg but I think she should be using a higher dosage. Am I correct in this?

The one good thing came out of it is that she loves my Riva and realizes that Vapor 4 life is not working for her. I currently have the riva 750 but I think she needs the big mama.. I forgot the number but hopefully I can get it for her for christmas.

Yeah, I briefly returned to smoking after 2 years of vaping. It seems like after the novelty wore off I was left with the continuing frustration of getting a reliable vape from my pv. The batteries were so inconsistent. None of them held a charge for long (if they charged at all), so I was juggling 5...6...7 batteries a day. That and the carts and the batting and the juice leaks and the....ARRRGHHHH! Near the end there I was just sucking on dead batteries, not even bothering to charge them anymore.

I threw in the towel. I started vaping again when my local convenience store began selling e-cigs. It was alright for awhile but I was soon faced with the same frustration that caused me to initially stop. Was about to quit again when I stumbled upon a Facebook ad for the eGo. Up to then I had never even considered trying another style e-cig. (I'm loyal to a fault when it comes to certain things.) So I decided to take a chance...turns out the eGo was what I expected from an e-cig from the beginning. I've used it everyday now for 2 months and it hasn't failed me yet, so it looks like I'm back for good.

Nonsense. Do NOT get the Ego.

If you start off with the Ego you won't appreciate it as much as we do.

You should buy a store bought starter kit for $75 that sucks first like we all did, feel the disappointment/shame and THEN buy a Ego. Why should you be spared of the added expense of learning the hard way?

Most of us here who are vaping aren't doctors, therefore, I don't know how you expect the vaping community to deliver what you are looking for. A few here on VT are nurses. Though I'm not one of them, I am a teacher, and I do teach my students how to research. While Wikipedia may not have had the best marks in the past for their reputableness (yes, I'm aware that's not a word, but as an English major I make words up like the Bard), this information on nic toxicology is quite good.

If you scroll down a bit after Toxicology, there's some very interesting insight into nicotine's (gasp) therapeutic uses.

Links provided at that entry led me to an entry on electronic cigs. While ambiguous and not as thorough as I would like, it does have decent information.

If you are so worried about it, I'd talk to your doctor, not some folks on an internet forum. The vendors are not practicing bad business, in my opinion, by not suppling this information. It is up to the end user to do what feels comfortable for her/himself. The FDA is not (yet) regulating these devices. And I hope they don't, ever. They really turned cigarettes into quite a debacle.

Best of luck and I hope you find what works for you.
