  1. Atlas Shrugged was also pretty darn close to the mark, too. Heard an old interview someone did with her back in the '50's some years ago and will never forget listening to her say that what happened in Russia can happen anywhere - even in the United States. Just takes the right set of circumstances. Too much stuff happening all over the place these days. Glad to see things carried on pretty well as normal below the line this week. We live in some interesting times ...
  2. Hi Matthew - sorry to hear that you're having the same problems but must say a bit of a relief to know I'm not the only one. As Chris mentioned, I thought maybe I had a bad atty but unlikely that it is all three of them! I've tried the straw method, felt and the latest rage with cart filler that seems to have everyone excited - the Lipton Pyramid teabag - and none of them makes any difference. Still only a few good vapes before needing to be topped up. Like you said, the good ones are great, though. Had a long road trip planned last week but, fortunately, it wasn't necessary as I had been wondering how I was going to safely manhandle my ecig all the way there and back. Anyway, just a matter of accepting it the way it is and living with it, I guess. Good luck to you and if you run into anything that suddenly makes the difference, please let us know!
  3. Okay - must be spending too much time obsessing over this! Dreamt last night that I turned two of my atomizers upside down to drain and all the internal parts fell out! Of course, maybe that's because I got so frustrated yesterday that I pulled all the rest of the threads out of the atomizer that I first accidentally pulled three out of at the beginning. Figured it couldn't be much worse (re the burning taste) and I had two more atomizers so why not? To this point, I haven't noticed any difference in performance (although may have shortened the atty life?) but ... well ... that really bad burning taste seems to be gone. Now I just get the usual 'dry' atomizer taste when it's time to re-drip. However, I'll still leave the other two atomizers alone ... for now anyway. I'm going to use this one exclusively and see if it totally bites the dust in the next week or so. Will keep you posted. Another thing I just realized (after reading another thread about the nice 'warm' inhale) ... oddly enough, the first few vapes I made when I first got my kit, I could feel a very noticeable difference in the vapor. Yes, it was nice and warm - certainly enough for me to think 'wow! This is nice!' But since then ... it's not different from any other ecig I've had with regards to temperature. Are you guys still experiencing that warm vapor thing? I know it's reaching but really have to wonder if I got a bad kit or something ... surely this can't be ALL 'operator stupidity' ... can it? In the meantime, I've got some more penstyle goodies coming.
  4. Well I got to thinking about atomizers ... particularly the odd time a bad batch comes out? I've been getting that taste on both atomizers that came with the kit. Doesn't seem to make any difference if it's the one with the pulled threads or not. So ... as I had ordered an extra one I decided to give that one a try and see. Funny enough, this was the only atomizer with any primer taste on it at all. The ones with the kit were virtually primer free. Don't know if that says anything or not. Anyway, just started trying out the other one and will see what happens. So far I THINK it is better - slightly longer between drips kind of thing but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. Anyway, will keep plugging along here. Of course, being the only ecig I have at the present kind of eliminates any choice ... and it's not like things are horrible. Just a tad frustrating is all.
  5. I didn't mean that I don't get enough huge vapor - with this thing, that doesn't appear to be the problem at all. It's just that if I take more than about 2 good size vapes (3 -4 seconds each), I'm getting that burnt taste already. OR ... is this just normal?
  6. Well, I'm still working with this ecig and back to dripping again. As I cannot seem to get more than about 6 or 7 good vapes with a cart no matter what material I fill it with (and believe me, over the past few days I think I've tried every damn thing out there), I'm just frustrated beyond words with the bloody things. However I don't seem to get as much vape out of my 'three drops' as I see you guys do in your reviews. Think I've figured out that maybe it is the size of the dropper that comes with those 10 ml amber glass bottles that I use for convenience sake. So will try experimenting with that a bit (four drops, five drops, etc) and see if I can't bump up production a bit. I have to admit that there is no comparison for juice flavor when dripping. If I can get a little more time out of it between ripping the cart off to drip again, I will probably land up being an exclusive dripper for this model. Took you a long time to get me here, Chris but finally, eh? Guess I'll just have to get myself another pen for driving though. Dripping and driving ranks right up there with drinking and driving!
  7. ... okay ... going to try a couple more 'tips' with this baby before giving up on it ... believe me, the problem is not the ecig, it's the operator! Just kind of missing the good old, no-fuss, no-muss, throw-a-cart-in-and-good-for-practically-the-whole-day penstyle. But if anyone is seriously looking for a good deal on a slightly used 510 (3 batteries, 3 atomizers - one with a few threads pulled out but still seems to be working so don't know yet what damage that did to it - usual charger stuff and one blue PCC), let me know.
  8. Well gentlemen ... I have only one response to this one and it is rather nicely summed up by the following video. Providing, of course, that I inserted this link properly!
  9. Actually I thought that was pretty damn funny! Well, after a few more days with this 510, have to say that it appears I'll need to have a supply of ... ohh ... 100 mls of juice a month or so! Holy crap - not kidding it is a juice hog! Have a long trip ahead of me today and sure wishing I had a penstyle with me instead! The 510 is an awesome e-cig. I don't think anyone who has one can argue that. But ... still partial to the pen for longevity of cart life. Figure I'd better top off a dozen or so carts and take my juice for topping for a 7 hr road trip! Thank God for the PCC.
  10. Oh I totally agree - the more 'mainstream' these become, the better for all of us. Big box may become our best friend before this is over.
  11. Darn ... just checked Costco Canada and no Njoy goodies there ... sure makes you wonder, though ... how are they getting away with it? Good news nevertheless. Didn't check to see if they were selling carts with nic or if they were no nic, though.
  12. Yeah - I'm pretty freaking sure they're supposed to be there too! Should be a warning somewhere - 'if you see threads sticking out around the atomizer, do NOT assume they are fibers from carts! Leave them alone!!' On the other hand, still seems to be working okay. For now anyway. I'll let you know if it dies on me real soon, though. Good thing I have two spares ...
  13. I was peering down the barrel of my 510 atomizer tonight and noticed what I thought were some strands sticking to it from a cart. So ... stuck the tweezers down there to pull them off and ... holy crap. Pulled out about three of these long strands that definitely were not cart fiber. Anyone know what those are? Guess it was only the fuzzy ends of them sticking out from under the bridge because they were pretty substantial threads. Who knew there were even threads lurking down there underneath the bridge. Hmm ... sounds like something from the Three Billy Goats Gruff ...
  14. Hmm .. that's interesting that you said that you got a little sleepy on the 36 mg. Started vaping the 510 yesterday morning and by the afternoon, I was totally and completely wiped out. Fell asleep on the chair on the porch and just dragged my butt the rest of the day. Never thought it could be the nic level but ... makes sense ... definitely have to lower that dosage! Referencing your other post, will be interesting to read how you compare the manual 901 and 801 to the 510.
  15. God, Chris, you make me laugh!! Forgot to mention in that post that yes, can you believe it? I was actually DRIPPING yesterday!! Happened about the same time I had my epiphany about the carts. And, okay ... couldn't help but imagine you sitting across the table from me, rolling your eyes, gritting your teeth and growling ... 'for the love of God, woman, just drip the damn thing!' Here are my thoughts about dripping. Yes, the flavor does really come out with dripping. Wow ... nice. Lots of vapor but didn't notice on this 510 that it was any more or less than with the carts - this thing produces awesome vapor either way. Yes, no worries about getting little cart fibers stuck to the atomizer with the inevitable 'yuck' factor. However ... guess it will just take me awhile to get used to fiddling with the thing after every half dozen vapes or so. Does that sound about right for 3 drops? About 6 vapes before you need to drip again? Keep in mind that I don't take nearly as long of a draw on this as you guys do. How in the hell do you do that anyway? Holy cow. After a mere 3 seconds or so, I just can't take it anymore. This thing really produces the throat hit and such a nice draw to it. Man, I'm loving this 510 Knowing that even I cannot screw up the manual batteries by dripping is also a relief. Also have found that I'm going to have to reduce the mg of my juice! Ordered the flue-cured and Ruyan #4 both in 24 mg because in the M401 and even the penstyle, found that 24 mg was just barely giving me the 'buzz' that I wanted. Not with this one! In fact, I'm finding that I cannot vape as much as I would like with it right now or I get that woozy, sicky feeling which, I know, is a sign of too much nic. There's a fellow up here who sells 0 nic juice in the same flavors. Think I'll order a couple of bottles and cut this stuff down by half. Would just go and get some VG at the health store but worry that it would 'water down' the flavor too much. Any thoughts on this? I love the flavors of both ejuices and would really like to vape more during the day just for the flavor! To give you some idea, I put my first fully charged battery on about 8:30 am yesterday. Didn't have to change it out until about 5 pm!! So you know how much vaping I got done. On the other hand, only had one analog throughout that whole time period which was amazing to me. Didn't even feel a craving for one. I think this may be the ecig that finally gets me off those damn things once and for all! Once I can vape as often as I would like, it will be freaking wonderful. Just a note on the PCC. When I switched batteries, I put the old one in the PCC for the first time. Light turned red, threw it in my purse and we took off to the beach for a 'picnic supper' and to try to cool down a bit (been screaming hot here and just don't do heat well). Got home and checked the PCC to see how it was doing as it was well over an hour by that time. No green light showing that the battery was charged up. Hmm ... popped the top off, pushed the battery down a bit, blue light flashed then went out, flipped the top of the PCC down again and ... no light showing. So, of course I'm thinking ... okay, ya broke it (am I just a bit paranoid about mechanical things?? Ya think!). Screwed the battery into the wall charger to charge it up and ... son of a gun, no red light. Went straight to green. Even to my mechanically challenged mind, this told me that the battery was, indeed, fully charged. So went and dug up the little instruction cardboard that comes with the PCC and, low and behold, the thing does NOT turn green to show you the battery is charged. The red light simply goes out. Another feeling stupid moment for the day. It obviously works as it is supposed to. Did I mention that the one I got has a groove on the side so that the manual battery slides in without any problems in case anyone is wondering about that as, I believe, the first PCC's that came out did not have this. What can I say? You guys were bang on with your review. With this one, I have now lost my craving for the pen. Think I'll order a pack of those whistle tip carts though. They just feel more comfortable in the mouth somehow. Now I just need to get to the point where popping off the cart and dripping is just part of the performance and not just a teeny pain in the patootee that is still is at the moment. Well ... time to drip again (yep this is going to take some getting used to) and get on with my day. Oh, as far as the felt cart goes. Easy as pie to do. Great vapor. No funny taste - just the ejuice coming through. I will probably use this method for those times when I'm out in public and want to be a tad more inconspicuous than constantly dripping. Although, as has been mentioned, this thing consumes juice, so even the carts need to be topped off more than I am used to. Small price to pay, though, for such a great ecig!
  16. Well, okay ... I feel like a bit of a idiot now. Regarding that last post, it struck me tonight that the only way to really see how this would work is to ... well ... DO it! It's taken awhile but I think I am finally coming through the 'other side' where I believe that anything I might do different will always result in mayhem and breakage. Sorry - you all must be just rolling your eyes! That said, I've created a 'felt cart' and will try it and see if it is for me or not. Sorry for being such a newbie dork!
  17. Okay - just got my 510 and I KNOW I said that I will start dripping (and I will - honest! ) but Vacker mentioned something in another post awhile ago that still has me intrigued. Also have a friend who wants to order a 510 and I guarantee you, she is NOT going to be fussing around pulling the cart off every 10 or 15 minutes to top off with dripping. So ... Vacker ... if you're there or if anyone has tried her mod ... how is the felt squares thing holding up? There was a thread talking about teabags and you said that you found felt to be way better. Just wondering if you or anyone else had an update on this? Felt would be just way too easy - cut to length, fold in half ... presto. Thanks for the input!
  18. Okay - first off ... this thing is unbelievable! And there really isn't any issue with using the manual battery. Thought it might take a little while to get used to it but ... nope. Can't really be much simpler. I think I will miss (a teensy bit) the ability to 'hold it delicately between my fingers' But ... BUT ... my God, this thing rocks! I can't take anywhere near the hit on it that you guys can and it still produces tons of vapor and throat hit. Certainly as much as I can handle. Don't need to go on and on - you already know what I'm talking about. As far as the PCC goes - nope, no mods needed. This one has a slot on the side for the switch so it slides in real easy. Pop the lid back on and voila! The charging light turns red instantly. Very impressed. All in all ... this may well be my last e-cig. Hmm ... well ... for a long time anyway, This one certainly deserves all the reviews it's received. Of course, I haven't had it long enough for anything to go wrong yet, either, right?
  19. I've got three manual batteries. They are the only ones that Ruyan sells. And guess they really are the only ones a person should buy anyway. Got the PCC all charged up now just waiting for a couple more hours or so for the battery to be ready. Can hardly wait to get started! As a matter of fact, figure it's time to go and have another look at your review and see if I can pick up some pointers again.
  20. Well it's arrived! Not bad - left China last Thursday, spent two days in Customs and picked it up today. I'm talking about my new 510, of course. So now I have the first battery sitting on the charger for it's 8 hr initial charge, the PCC is hooked up and charging and ... I can hardly wait. Am gonna have to stay up REAL late tonight to give it a try now. Just wondering ... did everyone follow the instructions re first charging? The 8 hrs, vape 20 minutes, re-charge 1 hr and you're good to go? Have heard so many different views on these batteries and the right way to look after them. Also got a 30 ml bottle of Ruyan #4 and Flu-Cured ejuice. Ordered a couple of extra 401 atomizers as well (don't want to be left high and dry without ANY ecig anymore). Dripped and topped off a cart with the Ruyan and ... nice ... like that flavor a lot. Sometimes find the TC a bit too sweet so will be nice to have some choices. Now ... just have to convince myself that I will be dripping with the 510 like I said I would. hee, hee. Anyway, excited to be back in the vaping world again and real excited about the 510. Talk to you all later!
  21. Yeah, it's felt kind of weird being 'away' for so long! Well, okay, I also didn't have a hell of a lot to say either which doesn't help ... anyway, will try to keep more active in here. Poked around some of the posts here to see what is happening. Did you ever get that balloon ride in?
  22. Well folks, haven't been by here in some time now. That's the problem when you get all energized in the spring and decide to build a 12' x 20' greenhouse and then it produces beyond your wildest dreams! However, you do have to be out there every damn night watering or thinning and stuff like that. Ah well, certainly have been eating healthy this last while. Am starting to get the requests from my son 'NO more green stuff'! Anyway, just wanted to give you an update on what service with Ruyan Direct has been like. Wayne at Ruyan Direct is a great guy to deal with. He has gone above and beyond with my orders with him. First ordered a penstyle with a bunch of spare parts and carts as I just wasn't too thrilled with my M401. It's ... okay ... but ... Got my order with no problems at all getting past Customs but ... very disappointed with the DSE 801. The atomizers were horrible. One was DOA and the others all leaked like a sieve. I'm talking dripping down the battery kind of leaking! After messing around and getting totally frustrated, emailed Wayne with my problems. After he suggested some things to try and they didn't work, he advised me to send everything back for a full refund (minus my shipping cost to get it back to him which, considering how cheap it is to order from him, I didn't mind). He emailed me when he received my package, tested everything out and confirmed the problems with the attys. He explained that, even if he were to replace everything brand new again, these particular atomizers from the factory have a bad reputation for leaking and he felt I might land up being disappointed with the quality again. Maybe not but it could be a crap shoot as to whether I got good attys or not. Suggested I purchase the 510 instead, which has a good reputation and so I did. He refunded my account for all the penstyle stuff and shipped my new order today as soon as I emailed him to say that's what I would do and placed the 510 order. I cannot say enough good things about this guy! Sure you wait a little longer to get your stuff but at the prices he sells for, it's worth a few extra days wait for someone like me who is on a, shall we say, regimented disposable income. And I really looking forward to getting my 510 after all the great reviews I keep reading about them. Ordered the PCC to go with it, too. Well, there ya go folks. Probably more info than you wanted to hear... Take care everyone. Time to go out now and move the bloody watering hose! By the way, I read Vacker's comments about using felt in the carts. Am definitely going to be trying that!
  23. Too funny, Chris ... but it makes me feel better! Noticed something weird tonight as well. I found what I thought were an atomizer and battery tht were actually working (had a couple of vapes and seemed okay) but just a second ago, I went to pick it up and noticed that the battery LED was lighting up and blinking ... just lying there! I've been emailing Wayne and he told me to just ship back the parts that weren't working and he would replace them. I was going to experiment with the last atomizer and couple of batteries just to see if I felt comfortable about keeping any of them but this settles it. I'm sending it ALL back for replacement. Ah well ... at least I DO have my 401 as a standby. I'm almost considering asking Wayne if he would send back 901 parts instead but ... gee ... sure would be nice to have working pens! Am a bit gun shy now though. Plus he is having problems with Chinese Customs now according to his website so who knows how long I might have to wait. Hmmm ... he's a good guy and trying his best but am starting to wonder if it was a smart thing to order from China now.
  24. Hi Vacker - man, I hope you don't start having problems now. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the amount of juice leaking out. Where the hell did it all come from is my question? It's almost like the bridge continues to wick even when you're not pulling on it. Weird. I'm a tad bit discouraged all right. Bought a bunch of spare parts and, so far, now have three batteries and three atomizers that are toast. All that juice leaking out did my batteries in. I will be interested to see what Wayne from Ruyan Direct has to say. I've had an email from him already and I know he thinks that it's just that that the atomizers need to be drained 'every night'. Sent him another email this morning saying that there was way too much leaking for it to just be that. Just can't figure out if it's worth it to ship the whole works back but ... yeah ... I think so! Might cost 15 bucks or so for shipping but, even at his prices, I spent a fair amount. Shoot ... Good luck with yours!
  25. Well, you are bang on, Chris. They are, indeed, the SLB atomizers. Funny that, for the first week, I was in heaven - everything seemed to be going smoothly. And NOW ... even switching to a brand new atomizer did nothing to help. I even got to the point where I wondered if the charger that came was crap. I screwed a freshly charged battery (charged overnight) on to an atomizer with a brand new, fresh cartridge and ... nothing! Nada. No vapor, nothing. Of course, if I really sucked on the damn thing, I'd get a lovely mouthful of vile tasting vapor but that really isn't what I had in mind! Damn ... now have to decide what to do. Send the whole works back and buy from someone else, I guess. I could use up the credit in juice as Heaven Direct has great prices on that. Hmmm ... crap! Was really looking forward to moving on with vaping but now ... although I was pretty intrigued with the review you guys did on the stick. After a few weeks, are you still impressed with it? At least it takes penstyle carts.
