  1. Hi Folks, Years back, I used a combination of a 501 battery & an 801 atomizer, & it worked for me. I quit tobacco, weaned myself off of the nic & then forgot about it. Till my sister asked me to help her stop smoking. She's gotten several types of battery/atomizer combinations, & she loves vaping over smoking, but she keeps having technical difficulties. The atomizers keep burning up, and/or the system leaks vape juice all over. So I'm here for advice. What's the best setup for someone who is severely technologically impaired? (Seriously, she's in mid 50's & I had to explain to her that the webpage she was on didn't entirely vanish, she just accidentally minimized it, here's how to get it back.) So what's the closest thing to foolproof? Preferably pen shaped if possible. Thanks in Advance, Jamie
  2. A coworker wanted to try vaping so I set him up with a kit, with 18mg tobacco flavored PG juice. He says it gives him a headache. Should I get him a lower nic juice or one with VG instead of the PG? Or could it be the tobacco flavoring? Thanks in Advance, Jamie
  3. Thanks! Uhm... do you happen to have the madvape website addy? And, The battery pack sounds interesting, how many pounds is it? Thanks Bunches! Jamie
  4. Hey VS, I have 8 disposable kits - 510 attys that can be used with any 510 battery (so the supplier told me) and batteries & usb chargers that only work together and the batteries are good for 3 charges. And filled cartridges: 5 tobacco & 3 menthol. I figure they'd be good for those who want to try vaping. Sound good to you? I've also got some gently used 510 bits. And will probably throw some other goodies in too.
  5. I finally tried a passthrough and when I hook it up to my computer usb port, it works like a champ. I thought I'd 'take it on the road' and try it out in my cab. Also, my dispatcher has an interest in using one at the desk, as it's a no-smoking office, but my vaping stuff is allowed. So here's the situation. I have two adapters. One is a car to usb, and the other is a standard house outlet to usb adapter. When I plug the passthrough into either and push the button, it flashes like a battery that has been hit for too long, at the very first second of activation. So, do I need a certain kind of adapter, or do I just have a passthrough that doesn't play well with anything other than actual usb ports? And where would I get the right equipment to be able to vape in the cab and in the office? Our office has yet to make it into the 21st century and have a computer@ the dispatch desk, even though it would be very handy for helping the gps-impaired cabbies find their way about... Thanks in advance, Jamie
  6. Thanks for the answers. Now I have a better response to that question than, "UHM..." As for what PM is up to, probably going to wait till people like us build up a market, then jump in. And if we don't manage it, then they'll just shut it down altogether.
  7. Here's a question: did you change anything, vaping equipment or liquid, shortly before you started getting the migraines? If so, maybe you could try switching back to exactly the combination you started with and see if it helps. I've had a few occular migraines too. Usually stress related, but one time I got one while running errands. I think it was due to it being an exceptionally bright day after a long, overcast winter/spring. When I realized I couldn't see anything in the middle of where I was looking (only peripherial), I went home, closed the curtains & took a naproxin. Perhaps it would be a good thing to keep track of anything that's been changing. Food, stress levels, light levels, as well as your vaping supplies. Hope you feel better soon!
  8. Hi folks! I'm back, for a bit anyway... Life got busy... Anyway, I've been corrupting (ahem...) Educating friends & coworkers about e-cigs. A question came up that I have no answer. The general history of nic-juice flavors. Is Ruyin a flavor that was specially blended for e-cogs? Where did the name come from, etc. BTW, I finally got around to getting a pass-through for when I'm sitting at the computer. Love it!! Mentioned it to my dispatcher, who is now vaping at the desk. (office is non-smoking) I'll be getting her one soon. I've also been stocking up on equipment & gear. Co-workers & passengers have been clamoring for it. I give VT cards to anyone who's online, but there's a lot of people around here who are computer-phobic and/or don't do credit cards. So I'm running an informal 'buyer's club' where I take requests, put the order in, & they can pay cash on delivery. As if life wasn't busy enough... Oh well, for a good cause...
  9. Went shopping a couple of days ago. Got a 'craft box' for my main stash, and a diabetes pack for my travel vape. (thanks again Schiz!) Main case has: baggies containing cartridges that have some nic juice still in them, 2 pairs of tweezers, 2 packs of cartridges, spare atty (low bridge) & auto battery. 15 bottles of juice, size ranging from 3-10 ml., from 3 different suppliers, extra vaportalk.com cards, & a variety of supplies I'm accumulating for when I have time to try some cartridge modifications. House charger is always plugged in near the computer. My travel pack has: spare (low bridge) atty, 2 backup batteries (1 manual, 1 auto), adapter to charge manual battery, tweezers, napkins, spare cartridges & baggies, & tonight's vape of choice (pumpkin pie by wordup). Will toss the main unit in bag before leaving for work. Car charger is in my 'cabbie bag,' along with some vaportalk.com cards to hand out to interested passengers. Might find time to take a pic when I get a day off...
  10. Ok, we've all accepted the fact that we are willing guinea pigs as far as the vape ingredients. I'm comfortable in my belief that it's certainly better than all the known killers in tobacco. And there's little question on the lack of second hand smoke. What I'm talking about is physical danger. Anyone out there have stats on house fires caused by cigs? Forrest fires? Or how about accidents caused when the wind whips through the open car window & blows hot coals onto someone's lap? (I very narrowly avoided this one) The point being that it would take a Seriously defective unit to cause any of these mishaps. Anyone ever notice little sparks coming off of analogs? I was told once that cig companies intentionally put gun powder in the paper, so the cigs would continue to burn even when not being smoked, thus increasing the # of cigs sold. Funny, after all the years of cig related fires, (and cig manufacturers doing Nothing) we suddenly have the 'safety cigarettes' that will go out if not puffed on. Just when e-cigs are breaking the mainstream barrier. I think they're starting to worry... BooYah!!
  11. Oh yeah... and wiping the outside of the cartridge before putting it back into the atty helps avoid the mouth full of nic juice. Once I found that tidbit, my learning curve rounded out and that's when my tobacco use plummeted.
  12. Schiz, you're a genius! I was looking all over Walmart today for an appropriate carrying case for my vape gear. The cases I saw online were too small. Considered sewing/tackle boxes, not quite there yet... Will have to check out the diabetes section some time soon!
  13. "Round up the posse, boys! We're goin' after th' scallywags!!!" I saw a nifty thing in the bathroom area @ Walmart. They have translucent plastic toothbrush holders in a variety of colors. A few strategically placed around the house & I'll always know where to look!
  14. I'd ordered blank carts & juice for my 801 first purchase. I think it 15-20 drops. What I'd suggest is look at the fresh cart before installing it. When the vape gets sparse, add drops till it looks like it did fresh out of the package. And a couple drips right onto the atomizer for good measure.
  15. One of the Many things I love about my 801! No way to confuse it with a cig. Looks like a pen, lights up blue, doesn't stink! Yay! I usually hit it a couple of times just before picking up passengers & just after dropping. If the passenger is a smoker, I happily indulge and answer questions. I Really need to get around to ordering something from the VT store so I can get some cards to hand out.
  16. Thanks Bunches!! Looks like I should figure out what I want & order well in advance. Still working out the equipment side of it, so no huge rush. And my tastebuds are slowly waking up. I can now tell a difference between vanilla & coffee, though neither tastes quite like it should just yet. Still way more pleasant than burning stuff though!
  17. I was told to not actually boil the attys. But pour very hot water through them for a few seconds, then let dry thoroughly.
  18. LOLOL! The vape-equivalent of the beer-helmet! I Love it! Please do keep us posted. I might just have to 'customize' my helmet this spring...
  19. Offering big, supportive mental hugs... And taking this cautionary tale very seriously. Here I thought I was being neurotic, wanting to stock up on batts., attys., & juices...
  20. This may sound like another stupid question, but are all e-liquids compatible with all types of e-cigs? I was surfing around last night, looking at/for interesting flavors. One site had rose, ginger & clove. I'm very intrigued... But the equipment they were selling was the wimpy cigarette look-alike kind. Does anyone know for sure if liquid made for that kind of e-cig would work with my 801 or the 510s I'm planning on getting in the future? Another question has to deal with further plans in my 'evil plot' to introduce vaping to my passengers. Given that people who smoke are 'tastebud impaired,' What kind of juice should I get to introduce them to the idea. I was thinking of getting a standard tobacco, a standard menthol, and then have a 3rd variety, like a 'flavor of the week'. One thing I remember clearly from when I first started using my 801 was that though the flavors were pleasant and satisfied my nic needs, I really couldn't tell the difference between vanilla & coffee. So I'm looking at something that will pretty much sit up & introduce itself... Hopefully several somethings, as I'd like to be able to switch it up from time to time. Keep it fresh & interesting. Thoughts? Suggestions? Many Thanks! Jamie
  21. Ahah! So they are out there, just not in the 801s. Figures... As for #2, I had an interesting idea percolate up from my subconscious on that one. As soon as I have time, I'll try to draw it up, scan it & post it here. BTW, folks, I don't know what the rules are on ideas, but if someone can put these ideas to reality, they can keep the profits. I'd just like to see them happen. Though I surely wouldn't mind a 'test unit' or several if it works out.
  22. Yeah, I read on another post that the VT guys send cards w/ the website addy on them when ya order from their store. So, yet another excuse to try out their selection... *EG*
  23. I tried a little experiment: I separated the battery from the atty. Put the battery to my mouth and sucked. Air came through the battery & it lit up like it does in normal usage. Then I took the atty. and put my thumb on the battery end to block any air that would come through that side. Could not get a breath through it that way. Can't see an airhole on the battery, but it has to go in somehow, because the air definitely flows through it. It's an automatic. But I kinda think it's similar on the manual, with the only difference being the button that keeps the air from going through and also keeps liquid from dripping into the battery & messing it up. Will try a similar experiment when my new manual batteries arrive. But yeah, I can see how the current design would have to be changed in order to make #2 a reality. I'm just hoping someone out there can figure it out.
  24. Er... that was me. My computer did something odd and when I got back to the post, I found that I had accidentally posted the same comment twice. I was trying to delete the copy. *Hanging my head and going to search the Help topics for how to delete posts.*
  25. Tried to just delete everything in the cloned post. Got a popup telling me that the post is empty. Now it isn't. Viva La Vapor!!!
