  1. Merry christmas, Happy hanukkah, joyful festivus or whatever else you celebrate this time of year, I and my family wish you all the best!
  2. Justification of my "no" answer is simple, 1/2 of those recieving it would be "illegal" aliens? sorry, they already said that people here "illegaly" would get my tax dollars. Just that single statement makes it a no for me, not to mention the death plans etc,... a definite no go. come on people, "I" could write a better health reform bill than this, heck I think my 6 yr old son could too.
  3. So someone DOES already have an american made atomizer? that can be adapted to fit other battery mods? and has a 6 month minimum warranty? and is less than $20.00? If so then it is time for me to shut up, relax, and buy some by "can be adapted to fit other battery mods" I mean that creating/using such an adapter would not void the warranty?
  4. Don't missunderstand me, I am not refering to anyone in particular yet, I just know from experience that when a project starts up, naysayers pop up out of the woodwork and I fully understand what you were saying. I am just saying I am NOT a supplier and do not plan to be even if my atty project blows away my expectations. If it works as planned, then my plan is to send prototypes and engineering breakdowns to some of my favorite suppliers and let them do with it what they will I do not consider this MY baby but America's baby btw, you know the dremel passthrough mod? well the atty size I am starting with and most hopefull for is a perfect fit And no, I will not be using "potmetal" for the final product lol that is just a cheap way to have a bunch of starter diameter models to work with
  5. Like I said , I am sure I am not the most qualified, but that did not stop me from tearing apart my step dad's vcr at 12 yrs old pulling out a bunch of useless junk and putting it back together working better ( I now have that vcr from 1985 and it still works great ) And I AM working on the atty, I am only in the very preliminary stages, but setting myself a realistic timeline of 6-8 months for the first few prototypes, then testing them for reliability and duration etc,.. and with luck a mass producable model within 1 1/2 - 2 yrs. Just found out my wife's father has a friend with a machine shop and is willing to help so this timeline may be shorter. Why am I talking about it? Because I am not in it to make a bunch of money, I want first and foremost to prove Americans can still make it better without costing alot more. I have already come up with a cost analysis putting production cost of my most hopefull model at $8.25 per unit making it prety easy to keep end user cost below my $20.00 mark for a 6 month guaranteed unit. And depending on testing after creating some prototypes, I have reason to believe that a 6 month guarantee will be cheesecake. This is not some pipe dream folks. These estimates I have found to be VERY conservative when you consider that larger coil and solider componentry combined will easily produce more vapor in less time therefore you get the vapor you want with less operational hours being applied to the components which has the effect of increasing the overall timespan components will last without even considering any extra engineering in that department. Why am I talking about it ? (continued) Because I do not care if someone else beats me to the punch, if they do and it is within the price range and dependability range I am looking at then the problem is solved. If not, well I just continue making mine if only for personal use I consider it worth it, and if it catches on and I make a buck or two out of the deal eventualy, then hooray for me. And to those who say there is no point , it will be banned etc,... well,.. I believe before WE shut down sb400 those same people and more were already on the "give up wagon" about that, and negative or counterproductive thinking has never fixed a problem, but a "can do" attitude has nearly always triumphed. I appreciate any "constructive" criticizm but will never listen to "destructive" criticizm or "defeatizm". To succeed without adversity is no success. :end rant: Back to work! (Edit) for those interested, some Ideas and info to get you started can be found HERE and THERE
  6. I am refering to a quality atomizer that consistently lasts for at least 6 months, Now back to work :P Edit: The design I am starting with to make it simpler on myself is going to be about 2x the size of the actual atty part we commonly see, but since it will be designed for battery mods and adapted down to current mouthpiece sizes there should be no issue with the larger size, allowing for larger more solid componentry.
  7. I understand the pain you went through, and I probably woulda snatched him out of his jeep
  8. Let me start with "If there is a truly American made atty out there, give me a link and I will promptly shut up". ok, with that said,... Why the heck isn't there any American made attys anywhere? Come on, this country was once known for making everything the best. We have some great ( and not so great) American made battery mods which I will be getting as soon as I can afford to (most are around $100.00 just for unit and battery,no atty or adapters included). But somehow no American with the resources has made an atty yet that can beat these chinese pieces of junk? I find this hard to believe. Please correct me if I am wrong and one has been made available. Heck, I am no electronics engineer and I do not make enough money to do alot of experimentation with having things machined, but I myself have already started puting some R&D into this ( me being probably the least qualified one of us ). Am I mistaken or is this thing just a ceramic cup with a hole in the bottom with a wire coil in it that is filled with kevlar or some other flame resistant cloth like material to keep the coil saturated with e-juice and a couple small wires and a couple solder spots held inside a piece of machined brass with some metallic wick coming out to direct the e-juice to the internal coil material? How hard can this be to make when someone as inept as myself thinks they have a real shot at making one eventualy? And it would not even have to match up with current models for size since cartridges or direct drip mouthpieces can be VERY simply machined to fit it and adapters to fit current battery mods would be super simple too. Even I could CAD out a machining model given a little time and I have very little CAD experience ( took a 1 week course in college once ). So I put it to you my vaping brethren and sisteren(?) who have more skills and resources than I to make 1 of these things before I do! If I am the first American to make one of these (considering my VERY limited income and skills in this area), then I will see it as a very woefull day in America. You have been challenged and the race starts NOW!!!! (rant ended)
  9. Just curious, but since this is going to the FDA does anyone really think THEY are doing this because they are going to listen to e-cig users who want them to go against their own special interests? Or is it more likely thay are hoping some e-cig users will get all beligerent/inflamatory with them so they can use 1 or 2 examples to say we are all a bunch of unthinking hotheads whose opinions should be disregarded when it comes to a decision? I have seen them use EXACTLY this type of ploy in other cases, so PLEASE DO "keep it clean" "well thought out" and make sure all statements made can be backed up with factual documentation. Lets not slit our own throat while trying to save our lungs. just my $0.02
  10. Just a FYI, there is at least 1 commedian who does not curse for a laugh (after further review I believe he has cursed 2 times in his career) his name is Steven Wright (dry comedy that rocks) I thank GOD that there are still commedians who realize humor does not need cursing.
  11. Seriously? OMG I "LOVE" that message! Every school in the USA should have it as a greeting, and copy it into text and spam parents with it like all these stupid coupon mailers we keep getting. I especially love the part " If you would like to hear this in another language, move to a country that speaks it" Like John Wayne said " Now just why the hell should I have to press "1" for english?" (not sure if he actualy said that but I have a t-shirt with his picture and that caption next to it). I am going to take a copy of that to my daughter's school and ask them to use it.
  12. Well, I went ahead and placed an order for the 33.95 metallic green 510 kit as well as a green case and a blue case. Will let you all know how it goes, cross you fingers, I can't because I am typing lol :P
  13. My main worries are if the company is legit. The prices make me wonder because they seem "too cheap" to be true sorta thing and even though it would only be 33.95 that I was spending with them, some scam companies just use that cheap price to get your info and pass it to friends, then you have charges coming in from all over. I just don't want that happening. if the atty's are junk, NP if the batteries have a 5 second cut off NP, I just really really want the metallic green 510 kit for 33.95 , for that price if they are legit I would be happy to just have the batteries in that color working decent lol. So if ANYone has ever bought from them before and actually recieved product, then my main worry will no longer worry me and I can buy it because I really really want that color. Note: I am normaly the last person to put form over function, but in this one case I want to, as long as there is at least 1/2 decent function as well hmmm,.. maybee I should just get some metallic green model paint and try my hand at painting my own (Laughs).
  14. Has anyone here ordered from smokedigital.com? if so were they a good experience? customer service, quality 510 products etc,....? I am wanting to order the metalic green 510 kit from them but I am not sure about them please help some quick responses would be really nice about now, considering ordering real soon. Thank you in advance because I am sure someone on this forum will have helpfull info
  15. I believe you are correct, I seem to recall something about that myself.
  16. just a note, this thread should probably be added to the original thread to keep the updates all in one place
  17. Ok, I really don't like getting involved in volatile issues that are not mine, but I DO like trying to help so here goes. (Note: If this resolution is found unacceptable to either of the parties involved please just tell me to bugger off). Tracie, my suggestion (take it or leave it) is to take the broken VP2 that I think is the one that you said you still have and send it back (insured and tracked(making sure to keep the reciept)) along with a note apologizing for any offense you may have given them and requesting that they repair it and send it back. The reason for the apology that I am sure you do not feel you should have to make is that harsh things have been said on both sides and the first person to apologize shows that they are the "bigger person" and you will feel better in the end knowing that you initiated the mending process. Since you paid for 1 and would end up with 1 working you would not be out more than the postage for getting it repaired. Vaprlife, my suggestion (take it or leave it)to you is that if Tracie takes my advice and sends the vp2 back to you, that you do repair it and send it back (insured and tracked) with a note apologizing for any offense you may have given( read prior section about apologizing). I realize this still leaves you "out" your cost of the missing unit since you cannot get compensated by your supplier without the unit broken or otherwise. I would assume that you as a company have done some sort of giveaway promotion in the past and in the interest of community relations would suggest that you view the loss as you would the loss you take on that kind of promotion. ( I know, easy to say when it is not my money ) I do however run my own small business ( not e-cig related ) and am very familiar with the community "good will" rewards that can come from handling this situation in this manner. In my experience this type of action can often "mend fences" and end up with a better friendship than if there had never been an issue in the first place. Just my 2cents hoping for a friendly resolution, Peace, Love, and Happy thoughts DannyBoyFromWashington
  18. Yes, great idea. this anouncement might even need to be copied over to the vapor talk book section
  19. From what I understand from a prety fair amount of research, more than 90% of the nic is absorbed by the lungs and the very small % that is exhaled dissipates faster than the pg. So yes there is a very trace ammount of nic in the exhaled vapor at first but before the visible vapor dissipates the nic has been long since evaporated . Also on a side note, if she is truly hypersensitive to nic then eating a potato or a tomato, or even just a bite of eggplant would cause a severe reaction since these and other vegetables contain more nicotine than what would be exhaled by more than 20people vaping at once in the same room. So I would say if someone claims hypersensitivity to nic and still eats a baked potato or a plate of spaghetti, then they are full of BS.
  20. just a note, I think VT's 510 attys are a low bridge atty (at least compared to the other non-VT ones I have) and they perform better ie.. don't flood as easy , better vapor, and a shorter wick.
  21. Yes exhaling throught the nose helps me taste things better since smell and taste are so closely linked
  22. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT EVER MADE BY A PUBLIC OFFICIAL LET ALONE BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. AND THIS GUY IS OUR "COMMANDER IN CHIEF". HE IS A DISGRACE.. UNBELIEVABLE PRESIDENT??? HERE IS HIS RESPONSE WHEN HE BACKED OFF FROM HIS DECISION TO REQUIRE THE MILITARY PAY FOR THEIR WAR INJURIES. WHAT AN EMPTY HEADED PERSON HE MUST BE.... Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal. "Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans." Please pass this on to every one including every vet and their families whom you know. How in the world did a person with this mindset become our leader? I didn't vote for him!!! REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT... "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice?" If he thinks he will ever get another vote from an Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard service member or veteran of a military service he ought to think it over.. If you or a family member is or has served their country please pass this to them. Please pass this to everyone. I'm guessing that other than the 20-25 percent hardcore liberals in the US will agree that this is just another example why this is the worst president in American history. Remind everyone over and over how this man thinks, while he bows to the Saudi Arabian king.
  23. My e-mails are sent Hello Senator; My name is Daniel _________ and I have become aware of a disturbing bill that is coming before you to vote on about banning "electronic cigarettes", preferably called a "personal nicotine vaporiser". I am an adult of 34 years and an "e-cig" user. I do not believe that "personal nicotine vaporisers" which I will refer to as PNV's should be lumped together with cigarettes or any "tobacco" product. Nicotine is contained in many vegetables like tomatoes and is therefore not a tobacco specific ingredient. The other ingredients in "e-juice" like PG (propylene glycol) or VG (vegetable glycerin) or water and the common candy or sno-cone flavorings are also found in very common foods. As such everything inhaled or exhaled from "quality" e-juice is a "food" product and can be obtained without use of tobacco. Are we going to propose banning potatoes, ripe tomatoes, cauliflower, and eggplant from being eaten or shared at work because they contain niccotine? I have quit tobacco cigarettes entirely after 20+ years of smoking. The patch, the gum, and the niccotine inhaler have all failed to help me stop smoking ( I would find myself lighting a cigarette while still wearing the patch or chewing the gum). The PNV however in my opinion has been the one alternative that has worked for me, and they make no claim to even be a "quit smoking device" just a (until otherwise "unbiased" and "quantifiably" proven) healthier alternative. I have been off "analog" cigarettes for about 1 month and have had no bad health effects, Instead I have noticed my lungs capacity has increased, my sense of smell and taste have started to get stronger, I have more energy and my wife says I no longer smell like an ashtray. I am not an uneducated man and I can see no cause to even consider such a ban. They are not marketed to children and most companies that sell them (even though they are not required to yet) have voluntarily put warnings on their website and their product stating "keep away from children", "not for non-smokers or anyone under the age of 18" and other warnings to that effect. Now, I do support a bill requiring ALL sellers of PNV's or e-juice to place such warnings on their products and take measures to prevent children from getting ahold of them( though I think most of THAT responsibility lies on the parents). I would also support requiring that e-juice be sold in containers with "child proof" caps. As for those who might become offended because it "looks" like smoke coming out, I believe it is their responsibility to educate themselves on the matter ( just breathing looks like smoke coming out in the winter time). Furthermore there is evidence that PG vapor from things like PNV's may well HELP everyone around the person vaping. Time magazine health air germacide - e-cigarettes are not cigarettes, and shouldn't be treated like cigarettes, - e-cigarettes are smokefree products, and thus shouldn't be defined as smoking, - there is no evidence that e-cigarettes have ever harmed any user or nonuser, - the bill would force exsmoking e-cigarette users to be exposed to tobacco smoke, - e-cigarettes aren't marketed to youth, but rather to adult smokers as alternatives Please Senator, consider your vote carefully. I know I would not want to be remembered as someone who voted for a ban that "potentialy" signed as many death warrants as this one is capable of. If you would like more information on the subject try http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum there are many informative links within it's pages. Sincerely Daniel __________
