We started the series Homeland the other night, I have already seen it but my wife hasn't, so I'm watching it again with her. They have only made one season of it but I hope there is going to be more to come this year.

In 2009 when I started vaping, it took me about a week to completely quit the analogues. That was in August, by January 2010 I was smoke free and only vaping. I started with a very high strength juice (36mg) and weened my self down to Zero. I vaped more when I had cravings, that is how I got through the rough spots. I have again quit smoking (2 days now), I have been just vaping through the cravings, which have been fewer and fewer. I made a deliberate and conscious decision to quit this time, cold turkey with no hidden analogues on the property to fall back on. Since I am not mixing analogues with vaping, the vapor tastes better (in my opinion). In the past when I have "played" with quitting, I'd vape a little and then smoke. The vapor tasted kind of funky, but now that I am not smoking analogues and vaping, I'm just vaping, there is not that funky taste. Another thing that I also have going for me is, I don't go to bars and I don't hang around friends and family that smoke. I was the lone smoker in my circle of friends and family that I regularly see socially, so it isn't difficult for me to distance myself from smokers. If you are really serious about quitting smoking, then set a date and smoke your last analogue and just vape. Try not to hang aroung your smoking friends for a few weeks, until you are firmly off the analogues and just vaping for awhile. That's my advice, for what it is worth. We'll see how it goes for me these next few weeks.

Sorry you have been having so much trouble quitting. I wish I could tell you there is some magic answer. What nicotine strength do you use?
Cigarettes have so many chemicals in them that keep us addicted and vaping liquid is devoid of all those chemicals.
For me, I would just vape until the craving subsided...eventually the cravings just went away.

That kind of legislation will start popping up here eventually. Even worse than it is now. It will probably start in California and spread through the liberal states like wild fire until it becomes federal. Especially if we don't change our current political situation.

I have to agree with blucavvy on this point. I have been vaping since September of 2009 with a 2 year hiatus ending about now. I am not well traveled anymore as I used to be and haven't had a drink in a bar in over 15 years and haven't been to a night club in 20, but, I do run into a few people who vape and I see the cheap kits in the convenience stores. Everyone I have run into are using cartomizers that look like the old 808's (like a real cigarette). When I whip out my eGo with an 801 atty and a drip tip (I modified a cone to cover the fitting), they always say "Whoah! that thing is huge" and "It looks like a black dil do, that your sucking on". One very obvious thing that I have found to be true, analogue cigarettes are easy to smoke. When I started smoking a pipe years ago, My dad warned me about my job. He told me that he would never in his career as a business owner hire a pipe smoker because they'd spend all day trying to keep the d amn thing lit, and not getting work done. With an analogue there is no hassle, Phillip Morris invented the effortless smoking device that required nothing but fire and when it was done there was nothing left except a butt to toss out, completely disposable and easy to use.

eCigs turned into a major hobby for me and consumed a lot of my time and money. I personally don't regret it one bit, but the mass majority of smokers are not wanting to take up the eCig as a hobby in order to make the switch. If they are going to switch, the product that they switch to has to be self contained, disposable, easy to use and work every time at a price that is comparable to a pack of cigarettes. I love eCigs and was a fool for starting back on the analogues but the majority of analogue smokers out there aren't willing to put the time and effort into it like us eCig hobbyists are, they just want to light up and go...

Putting what is to come aside, I think it speaks volumes about the people that have been fighting for this industry, that their efforts and the community and products they've built have most definately put a dent in the profits of some of the biggest companies in the world. That's the definition of innovation. VT and vapers everywhere... congrats.

Just posted up and article on our front page: http://www.vaportalk...or-135-million/

This will no doubt help the industry in the fact that we've got big money now willing to protect the industry. However I see this pushing out the little guys no doubt. I suspect RJ Reynolds and Phillip Morris (Altria) aren't far behind. Most of us, especially suppliers knew this was going to happen at some point. The indsutry will no doubt start taking a more formal shape over the next couple of years vs the wild west that it is today. I assume patent battles are sure to follow..

I agree that this is a good thing for the time being. They will have the funds for R&D and also access to labs in order to prove the safety of eCigs. This will help pave the way for smaller operations to operate without the fear or threat that they are selling a dangerous product. But as Chris said, patent battles will follow as those big companies try to lock themselves into profits to cover the expense of the R&D and the labs. It's a double edged sword.

I see that a lot of smaller operations will be bought up by the big companies, that will pay off for those who have hung in thus far but it will be bad for the consumer as customer service will go down the tubes and the choice of products will be scaled down to what can be efficiently mass produced and disposable.

Most small operations cannot compete with the big money it takes to have a product patented. The last time I checked, back in 1997, it cost $10,000.00 to have a patent attorney just perform a patent search to see if you invention or idea hasn't already been submitted. We never went as far as having a product patented because the cost was just too far out of sight.

Re-reading this post nearly a year later makes me feel like a hypocrite or a liar. Life happens, mine seems to be in full swing lately, I find the time to pop in every now and again, but I'll no longer say things like "I'm back" or "I'll be more active" because I can't commit to that, in actions. Even though that's what I want to do at the time; people, family, business and just "things" get in the way of me making those statements a reality. It's not that I don't like Vapor Talk or that I don't care, I think y'all are are super guys, especially Chris and a few others that were real good friends during my time here. Of course as with any addiction, without support, the addicted generally fall back into their addiction. This I have done, I'm currently back up to two packs of analogues a day and have been since I stopped being so active on the forum. I can feel that it is going to be my detriment and it will put an end to me if it hasn't already. I keep saying "when things settle down", but they never do, whether good times or bad; customers, family and friends keep demanding my time, effort and energy. With all that said, I still want to get back into the swing of things on the forum, but I know I can't commit and my being here and still smoking is hypocritical. I know that y'all are going to say that that doesn't matter, but it does to me. It's just the way I'm made, I wouldn't drink in an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and the same sentiment applies here. I make a periodic check on the topics and lurk in the background from time to time, but being a regular again will not happen anytime soon, if and when it does, I'm sure it will be awhile before my intentions are equal to my actions and I will actually do what I say I'll do. Just know that I am here in spirit.

I thank Chris for providing this venue, the time and effort he has put into this endeavor is monumental. I know for a fact that the amount of effort and energy that Chris has put into this forum and the Vapor Talk Store or Forever Vapor far exceeds the amount of profit he has reaped. The hours spent verses the money earned is probably less than minimum wage. He has done this because he is committed to this cause and because he truly cares that people have a place to do what all they do here in the type of atmosphere that he has created. The Vapor Talk Forum is a very different forum from the others, a safe place for all and free of slander, attitudes and negative feelings toward it's members, everyone here has always seemed to want to help others and not hold them down. That is a mountainous feat to accomplish and he has assembled a great team to help him accomplish that task. I feel very fortunate, to have at one time, been part of that team, thank you Chris for the opportunity.

I have a lot of fond memories while an active member here, especially the banter back and forth with Keenan, how I wish that hadn't ended. But people come and go and they move on to other things. I suspect Keenan is otherwise enjoying life in New York and spending good time with his family, hopefully he will return to Vapor Talk as I miss him the most.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring, maybe I'll win the lottery and have the time to do what I want instead of my business dictating where I spend my time.

So, to all the Vapor Talk members I say, enjoy your time here, and keep the faith vape!

I switched from the VP2 to an eGo with a tank cartomizer. Works great! I like the regular resistance attomizers because the low res makes the vapor too hot for me and makes my tounge raw on the end.

Kinda brings a tear to my eye, I said KINDA!... I too started smoking analogues again along with the eCig, I'm such a maroon sometimes. I'll get back off of it soon. Even thought I have been away and busy dealing with all of the craziness, I missed the forum and the interaction with the members. Of course, according to Chris I'm not in the "awesomest" of members category anymore, but I guess I deserve that. Maybe I can make amends. Anyway It's good to be back...home, here on the VT forum, I missed you guys and I look forward to the coming year.

Heres one that would help me out. Im still a noobie in the juice dept. I know the obvious flavors, i.e. Camel, Marlboro, etc. But now that I have my tastebuds back, Some of the Juice names dont really explain what they are. The only one I really know is 555, cuz I bought from Arno after he explained it to me. And obviously anything with mint or fruit in the description is easy enuff. But stuff like RY3 or RY4 and things like that, I have NO idea if its something I would like. Is there a "Juice Dictionary" anywhere, or could we make on up ? Sometimes I feel like Im in a French Restaurant, and I SOOO dont want any snail.
