Hello!

I’ve tried BLU and found that it irritated my throat, the amount of vapor was not consistent, and some of the liquid would leak on to the mouthpiece when I carried it my purse.

I would appreciate recommendations for an ecig that mimics a real cigarette. – is this a ridiculous expectation? I would like consistent vapor and something that sort of tastes like a cigarette. (If only Philip Morris would develop one of these things!)

Your opinions are most appreciated.

Asking Phillip Morris to create an e cigarette is like asking an assassin that was trying to kill you, to patch up your bullet wound.

But really, I think what your looking for is probably a cartomizer model. I'm not sure if the Blu model you where using was cartomizer model or not but cartomizers are much less likely to leak than standard atomizer models.

As for the taste of a cigarette, I'll tell you right now you're never going to duplicate the taste 100%. The primary reason for this is simple, nothing burns. The majority of your cigarettes flavor comes from the burning tobacco. It's near impossible for electronic cigarette makers to re create this taste.

In all honesty though, if you give it enough time and we're not talking much, you'll actually prefer the none cigarette type flavors anyway. It's not until your taste buds come back that you realize just how bad the cigarette tasted :)

Using an e-cig is nothing like a smoking an analog. The inhale and taste is not the same. Thank god. Using a e-cig takes all the bad stuff i hated about smoking out and only leaves the good. In my opinion that is flavor and nicotine. :-)

Any one of the starter kits you will find in the store right here will do you fine. Keep in mind these are starter kits and will not be exactly as you need them to be. I suggest getting a starter kit and ask a ton of questions as you go along you will discover what works best for you.

http://www.vaportalkstore.com/categories/e-Cig-Starter-Kits/

I would not worry so much about getting the perfect e-cig at the beginning.

I can tell you what i use, but that may not work for you as this is my preference.

I have a Joye eGo, atomizer and cartage. but mostly drip. I do need to acquire some cartomizers for longer drives. As far as eJuice goes i love Waffle and Blueberry. The tobacco flavors with a hint of sweet flavors rocks.

Welcome. My recommendation is the eGo. Although it does not look like a real cigarette, it's not much bigger than one. The vapor is very consistant and the battery will last anywhere from 6 to 12 hours (depending on how much you vape). The taste is a very different matter. Although you can't get the exact same flavor as burning some tobacco, you can come fairly close. Everyone seems to have a different opinion of the tobacco flavors, some of the same ones keep popping up as good. I'm sure you'll get several different suggestions on that one. I'd suggest you try them all and see which one works best for you.

Good luck and happy vaping!!!

Ok the Blu sucks! Sorry, but it does. I bought one of those back in July because it looks like an analog and it just didn't do it for me either. It has a separate atomizer and the carts along with a very weak battery. And yes, the juice does leak. The throat hit is barely there. I hate to say it, but you got pretty much the lowest end e-cig out there. (Sorry for knocking Blu, but I was really disappointed for the money I spent!)

I did what others are suggesting. RESEARCH. I know it's hard to research when E-cigs are a new concept to you, but really it does pay! Anything sold in malls is crap also. I will tell you why. It is so sub-par to what they have out there now and WAY overpriced!

So Research is the key. I happened upon the Joye EGo mainly because it sells itself because of the long battery life. They aren't kidding! I was very skeptical to get something like looked almost like a pipe, but I tried it anyway. I, like most people, wanted to get off of analog cigs. I was a slave to them and I knew my health was being jeopardized in the process. Not to mention the cost!

I did try one other e-cig before the EGo. It was the Revolver Elite. The throat hit was MUCH better then the Blu, but the batteries were awful...which is what got me interested in the EGo. So in a way, that e-cig got me more curious about what ELSE there was out there.

The EGO is awesome. I cannot rave enough about it. I was a 2 pack a day smoker and after purchasing my EGO kit and some Menthol e-juice in 18mg nicotine, I was very impressed. NO, it's not like an analog AT ALL. It's simliar, but without the nasty burning smell or taste. It's much smoother. It also helps my cravings for cigs immensely! Within two days, seriously, I was over analogs. I was vaping on this device the first night I got it and had an analog the next day and it made me realize how NASTY analogs are! So, I put my pack of analogs away and decided vaping was gonna be my new thing. A week later I gave that same pack of analogs away. Didn't need them anymore and that says a lot because in the past, I would panic if I didn't have a pack on me at all times. I can proudly say I am still analog free. My counter at the bottom is 100% accurate. Once in a blue moon I do get a craving for an analog...but then I remember how nasty it tasted the very last time I had one and it turns me off to analogs all together. So I just reach for my EGo and it does the job.

Yes, it would be nice to be able to run to the store to buy e-juice, batteries, or atomizers, but I buy in bulk. VT is reputable and there are other very reputable vendors out there that ship pretty darn fast! If you like it, just buy in bulk so you have enough to last for awhile. It is SO NICE not to have to worry about running out to buy cigs because I am almost out. (I even went out in a few snow storms for those darn things!) I have it all here with me and I am SET! It's wonderful.

Seriously do not judge all e-cigs because of your experience with BLU. I almost did and I am so glad that I looked into it further and did not give up on e-cigs. So give it a try if you are seriously looking to change your habit. Also I want to stress how much better I feel! I can taste things and I also can breathe better. You will notice a difference. It's awesome! Plus no smell and you can smoke it pretty much anywhere without smelling like an ashtray!

To add on to the eGo bandwagon here....

I stopped smoking analogs in September. That means I also stopped smoking them in my car. I vape in the car though, on an eGo with cartomizers. So when I went to pick up my cousin last week, with whom I've spent countless hours smoking in the car during summer months, she said, "I can't smoke in here, can I?" I said, "Nope!" and handed her a second eGo battery with a cartomizer on it. We vaped all the way to lunch. I knew after lunch would be hard for her, but she said, "Can we have that smoky thingy in your car again?" I, of course, agreed, because nicotine after Chili's is a must! LOL We get to our next destination, and she just wants to hang in the car for a bit and vape. No problem. On Christmas day, when we usually sneak out and have a smoke in the car to get "gas" (yeah, right!), we just went in her room instead an used the "smoky thingies" again, this time with drip tips each. Unfortunately, she loses everything, so I didn't get her one as a gift, but I did give her this site to peruse. In other words, if it worked for my 18 year old cousin (who's been smoking since she's 15), it'll work for you. Not once did she complain about the size or that it didn't look like a cigarette. Not once did she wish she had something that tasted like Newports. I had a sampling to use from here at VT for her on Christmas, and she loved it all!

Good luck, Joy! We are all here for you!

AimmeG...that's an awesome story!!! I've heard nothing but good things about the eGO! Makes me wish I would've come here first. But, I am happy with my "Nebula" from vapornine (for now!). Just got it, but I have no desire so far to get an analog in my mouth. With that said, I also got some liquids and blank cartos from VT...looking forward to getting them. I say, try again!! Get the eGo!! I used the 24mg carto from vapornine and the TH about knocked me out!! I had to go all the way down to the 11mg. But, now that I have the hang of it a little bit, the 16 isn't so bad, but I still can't handle the 24...wowee!! What I've learned from this forum, is there are soo many different things you can try to make the experience better and work for you. So, don't give up...I'm not going to! Analogs are yicky and I hear they'll kill ya..harhar!!

I've been using e-cigs for about a month now. I started with the blu cig like you did. I tried the blue foam mods, polyfill mods, tea bag mods, etc. Nothing made the blu satisfy my cravings for a real cigarette, so I returned it in the 30 day window. Before I sent it back I ordered the Volcano Inferno with a drip tip and a magma atomizer. It's perfect, the battery life, built in USB pass through, really everything about it. I get just the right throat hit, good flavor, I really can't say enough about the product, absolutely nothing like the blu. You can get a battery, atomizer, cone and drip tip for around $40. I would definitely give it a try.

If you have to have analog like go with the Joye 510. Wordup has 520s with a little better battery life but you will soon enough want more so the eGo is the choice. I have an XL and it is perfect. I use several and love mods too but the eGo is the foundation for me. You will find your perfect PV and juice as you go along, Glad to have you here and we will hold your hand all the way. Happy non-smoking New Year!

As for your issues getting juiced and leaking, that can be fixed by ordering some cartomizers. The BluCig is a 510 connection battery so in order to save money and not have to buy new equipment you could just order cartomizers that fit your Blu battery. In other words, go to a supplier that sells 510 cartomizers (the vaportalk store has a great price on them here is the link 510 cartomizers), purchase and when you get them take the plug out and boil for five minutes in water to get any residual primer taste out. Then let them dry over night and fill with your favorite juice. They can be cleaned with the same boiling technique once they get gunked up or burnt tasting. There is a video on how to fill them on the vaportalk store link I provided. Here is a thread on cartridges vs. cartomizers in case you are confused about the differance Cartridges vs Cartomizers.

If you don't like the battery life on them you can invest in a portable charging case(PCC) for your Blu 510s too, They can be found here. They are called the blu Exclusive pack and charge your batteries while you are on the go. And for only 9.95 are still cheaper than buying a whole new set up even with the cost of cartomizers.

If you want a real cig taste it will be hard to find. There is no juice that I have experienced truly simulates the cig smoke taste. While I think this is not a problem because vapor is so much cleaner and truer to flavor than smoke the choice is yours. If you want a juice that smells and tastes like the smell from a freshly opened pack of cigs (not like the smoke from them) then try dekang tobacco or dekang usa mix (the ry4 is my favorite all around just so you know :)). They can both be found at http://www.madvapes.com/50ml-China-E-Liquids_c_181.html for only 11.99 per 50ml and they taste great. They are great for someone starting out on vaping because they won't break the bank. They also have a great throat hit at 16mg or above.

Good luck! hope this helped

rcummings5886,

I'm also a newbie and have been looking for something to use with light vaping. I also really like the blu design, but was worried about their cartomizer and their flavors. You have also answered my question. I don't need anything fancy, I just want to puff 0 nicotine a little after a stressful meeting. Thanks!

Thanks for all the insight on the eGo. I almost bought the Blu but decided on the V2. I couldn't be more unhappy with it. I got the XL and it died way sooner than it should have. The light on the charger was defective and after only one charge, the charger broke. I'm returning it today. Wish me luck :)

The brand I use is called Premium. It has a nice minty taste like a minty

piece of gum. I happen to like it. I did a lot of research too. Mine also looks like an analog only slightly bigger.

I get a lot of great vapor too. Just my 2¢ worth.

Boy am I glad I didn't go with Blu. I have heard many

Negative things about them and not just here. I also

heard they're having problems with the company, Johnson Creek,

Who makes their flavors.

I, too, use an eGo so I won't elaborate anymore on that. I just wanted to share an observation about wanting vapes to taste like the cigarettes we leave behind.

For a period of time I became dissatisfied with the performance of my equipment (which eventually drove me to trying the eGo.) I became so frustrated that I briefly gave up vaping and went back to cigarettes. You can guess what I discovered.

Cigarettes taste nasty. But our addiction to nicotine encourages us to smoke anyway until our tastebuds are deadened and we no longer notice how nasty it is. I doubt very seriously that you'll find an e-cig that will mimic that nastiness.

What you may find are some tobacco flavored juices that you'll find acceptable and may even grow to love. Personally, I don't miss the tobacco flavor; just the menthol I'd grown accustomed to, since I was a menthol cigarette smoker. I'm grateful that I was able to find an acceptable substitute...

...without the nastiness.

Nature, if I were you I would pick up some cartomizers (LR) a lot of people prefer over the reg and maybe a tank with some tank cartridges, the kit comes with atomizers, you also might want to pick up a drip tip or two, besides juice you should be good to go.

Yep, what Fran said... some LR (2.0 ohm) Boge Cartos are simply a must I think. Especially starting out... I only wish this would have been the thing I would have done in the beginning!! The cartidges that come with the kit simply will not satisfy you... and they dry up fast and often taste nasty. I personally think cartos are less hassle than 'direct dripping'... but I still 'top off' to keep the carto nice and wet, so theres not much difference there I suppose. And you could also try the eGo T tank system as well if you wanted. Thats what nice about the eGo... it's so versatile and has several different ways to be used by you. Good luck!

Thanks Fran, that's what Dayvape told me b4, but I don't see any that say (LR), I looked here @ VT 1st...they're out of stock on most eGo stuff, and the tank w/caridges I need 2 look @ again, as 4 drip tip I don't understand !!!

Dayvape, thanks 4 your reply, I don't think I would want 2 'direct drip' @ this stage, just 'top off' as u do, so I would still need the drip tips, right...I saw mini drip tips,A, D, 801B, mini trans. green, blue, clear and purple. I took another look and I did find a LR Boge Cartos but they were 1.8 ohm and some that just said Joye tech cartomizers, I saw the 'cone' 4 the eGo, I didn't c a eGo T tank 'system' but I saw just cartridges and blank Monster cartridges, no tank !!!

Nature, the 1.8 LR Boges will work just great... and you will want a drip tip for a '510/901' in whatever style/color you prefer. You can get all of this at one place... did you find a good vendor and price on stuff?

Here is a good place to get them: 2.0 LR CARTOMIZERS! You should also be able to grab the drip tips there as well under 'accessories' I believe. That is if you haven't found a better price/vendor to buy stuff from.
