British Open

Recommended Posts

Watching the British Open at the "Old Course", reminds me of walking with the gallery in 1990 when Nick Faldo won.

What I learned playing the courses in the UK the 4 years I lived there:

- No practice swings around or near the tee box
- You carry your bag or used a pull cart. ( no golf carts )
- You wear a collared shirt and long pants. ( shorts are out )
- My local had very long par 4's which would be par 5's here, and it started ( hole 1 ) as a par 3, and a postage size green.
- an umbrella and neoprene gloves are standard equipment for your bag.
- learn the art of 'bump and run' for link courses.
- You can ( as a non-member ) play the "Old Course". ( must use a caddie )

Weather is going to happen, learn to work though it.

Have you read this? It's a good read.

Ive only ever played in the UK a couple of times. Both in Scotland in Edinburgh. Great time and very different from US but never made it to SA.
