Tugboat mod magnet switch question

Recommended Posts

I just got the Tugboat mod yesterday. I was changing out the battery and the magnetic switch part snapped directly onto the battery without the magnet that goes on the negative part of the battery. It started sparking and super heating up the battery and the button switch. I am worried it might have damaged something in the switch. I have not had the mod long enough to know if it is not performing the way it should.

I would have more worry that it damaged the battery. All I have for a magnet switch is my Magneto. It has a block between the battery and magnets so what your describing can not happen. Depending on the magnets heat can affect the magnetism of the them. Other than that, they are a simple switch using the opposing poles of the magnet to keep them apart unless you press the button.

That's good to know. It lags a bit before firing using a different new battery so I was worried that I might have damaged the button piece. If I'd known that it would short if the button connection touched the battery without the opposing copper connecter on the battery I would have kept them much further apart. :/

I have done somthing simular, but it didn't fire. I use a 4nine clone and it is real easy to attach the magnet the wrong direction and you don't realize it until you press the button. I always test it before I attach the atty. It will not complete the circuit unless I have the atty on it.
