Sort of... a coil is a common type of atomizer. However atomizer can refer to a few general varieties of heating elements.

The coil is actually the business end of an atomizing device. It refers to the coil that is wound of wire that actually produces the heat to vaporize the eliquid. The devices are atomisers,clearomisers,tanks,rebuildable drip atomisers and whatever else they have come up with. I would recommend you keep it simple and don't overwhelm yourself with the hardware at first. Just find a good starter kit and experiment with different brands and flavors of liquids . A good start would be an Ego type battery ,variable volt if you must and a good clearomiser with a few spare coils.
