  1. awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, thank you...you and Sharon will make me cry!!! I can't wait to see and hear about what you guys mix up!!! It really is amazing to finally be free of cigarettes. We had to drive out of our county to buy them because here they are taxed $2 a pack here, JUST IN COUNTY TAX, never mind state and other taxes, and I just wouldn't pay it. So we would plan around our cigarette runs and it was like a big production what else we could go do when in that direction. Ridiculous. Who knows how much we have saved in gas and wear and tear on our vehicles!! Plus the time....good 45 minutes round trip of driving just to get smokes...we always gassed up over there too also taxes, cheaper. Thank God we live near the county border and also the IN border where taxes were also less than IL....so nice to not worry about all that. I MUCH rather shop online....if I get something I don't like at least I didn't expend a ton of energy doing it.
  2. I have been using my drip tip on my carto, but before i go anywhere I have full cartos ready, but sometimes I just don't want whatever is in them, and so I think of some "fake" reason to pull over. Sudden need for coffee, OMG, we forgot something at Walgreen's, ohhhh, did I hear a sound? etc. Thankfully usually someone else is driving, needless to say I would happily do the dripping for someone else. But really if I was DD 4 drops just to get 8 drags, I would definitely use another method for driving. I would be DDing every minute if that is all you get from it....especially driving, that is when I vape the most.
  3. Thank you! That was very nice for you to say! And same to you as well. This is such a great group of people, I love this forum, so much great info and everyone is so kind to one another!!!
  4. Thank you, thank you....before you know it, it will be YOUR anniversary. I can't believe it has been a whole year!! I NEVER thought I could quit smoking and actually BE happy not smoking!!!!
  5. awwwwwwwwwwwww thank you Sharon!!! You are a blessing to me and everyone too! I am glad if I can help anyone in any way. It is interesting learning all this stuff, isn't it?? You are so right about my husband, if he hadn't bought that starter kit NONE of this would be happening now....it is totally because of him that I am not smoking!! Thank you so much Sharon, you are a wonderful person and I am so glad I am getting the opportunity to be on this vaping journey with you!!! I can't wait to hear about what you mix up!!
  6. Wooohooo, I am so happy for myself....vaping ONLY for one year today!!! I actually started on Valentine's Day last year, late in the day, after my husband gave me a starter kit. I acted like a TOTAL jerk about it...like he was trying to FORCE me to quit. I LOVED smoking, loved EVERYTHING about it. Smoked heavily for 30 years. When I worked and could no longer smoke in the office I would literally chain smoke the entire way to and from work and through entire breaks and lunches. I smoked like a chimney....people called me "the chimney". Fortunately I suffered no ill health effects from smoking. Of course God only knows what could pop up down the road from it, I hope nothing, and I hope I stopped in time. But today it has been one year since I have smoked any cigarettes...I haven't bought any or had any I later found. I threw them in the trash...found a couple stashed packs here and there. It is hard to believe that I don't miss smoking, I don't want to smoke, I LOVE vaping. The flavors are still a work in progress, just lately finding stuff I really love, now that I have my taste buds back. I can't believe I would have smoked at least 20,000 cigs more had I not stopped. On the counter I put in 50 cigs a day, but often smoked 60 and during stress way more. So 20 grand is a conservative estimate. I am so happy for all of us who have found this way to avoid smoking! I am so glad to have "met" all of you...it is a huge encouragement and makes vaping tons more fun to have vaping friends. IT is fun trading and sharing liquids with Nina and soon Sharon. Thanks to everyone who makes this forum the fun and informative place it is....oh and Jolly too, for making me a couple mods and PTs that will make this experience EVEN better, and he has answered my endless questions about so many e cig related things. I truly appreciate the time you guys take to welcome, help and encourage other people. This is truly a wonderful "community" of vapers! Sorry to get so gushy!!!!
  7. Good, I figured it was something dumb like that or maintenance or some other web server related issue. I wasn't worried in the least. He makes the liquids for a lot of companies that then resell it with their own labels. I think it is amazing with everything he has going on that he STILL responds quickly to inquiries, no matter what they are. And I want to say again if you DON"T LIKE SOMETHING WRITE HIM.....HE WILL WORK with you. There will always be people who just don't care for certain flavorings, like all the people who hate Lorann's....then you have other people who love that flavoring....or DuKang's or any of the rest of them. But with him if you have a specific issue, he WILL work with you. The thing I like most is that because they are mixing the flavors they CAN adjust things so you like it....someone selling premixed can't help, you either like it or you don't. BUT that is only my preference. I couldn't care less who buys what from where, I am just happy I found flavors I like....and of course I am happy when anyone else gets stuff they like. If they like the same things I do, great, if not that is great too. I always try and make it clear that it is JUST my opinion.....and the way I order my liquid. Obviously someone who wants huge TH would order theirs that way....i only get medium. Anyway, glad it was nothing, i figured it was. Web servers are very touchy, LOL....that's technology for ya.
  8. ahahahahahahah, maybe that is a good diet plan??!!! we can just vape our meals...perhaps ham sandwich for lunch and potato chips....then for dinner a steak, baked potatoes and corn, perhaps some dessert afterward, LOL. I do have to say that since vaping all this sweetish tasting stuff I hardly ever eat anything like it is real life.....like I just don't have a taste for anything sweet. So I wonder if it is because our taste buds are being satisfied other ways???? Interesting.
  9. Those flavors I have found to be the most distinct....where I can tell one from another and each has a flavor. In the time I have been ordering from VR I have TRULY ENJOYED tasting again. Before I was making do because everything either tasted sweet or gross, now I am having FUN with the flavors...liking them alone and mixing them with each other. It is so nice to taste again, isn't it??? TRIPLE??? LOL, I can't imagine that. But at those prices what the heck, add whatever you want....he will add more flavor too if you wanted...all you gotta do is write and ask him/tell him. He will pretty much mix up anything you want. Obviously just the most common requests are on the order form. The vg/pg mix too he will adjust, and the mg of the nic if you want some other thing. Anyway, I have found them to have THE best customer service, as far as accommodations and email response time, etc. I have gotten everything in two days from time it was shipped. I don't mind waiting a day or two for mixing...I like knowing it was freshly mixed, not just yanked off a shelf. But that is just my preference. I have had everything within 3 days of ordering, so no complaints from me there.
  10. apparently he was working on the site......go look now, it is set up different. I used to have that when I had a website, I would be working on it, and while you are doing maintenance, upgrading, redesigning, it is down, DEPENDING on the webserver. Some webservers have the old version of the site while you work, but most of them give some idiot message. Just like FB, and it gives some idiot message to whoever tries to go on it. No matter when you do it, even middle of the night, there will be SOMEONE trying to go on it. Everything is fine with the site, just ordered, no problems.
  11. 1. how long have you been vaping?...ONE YEAR TODAY! YAY FOR ME!!! 2. do you smoke anologs at all anymore....NO...STARTED VAPING A BIT SOONER, THIS IS MY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF ONLY VAPING, NO CIGARETTES 3. how many years did you actually smoke analogs and about how much a day....I SMOKED 30 YEARS, 2-3PPD, AND I AM ASHAMED TO ADMIT, SOMETIMES EVEN MORE THAN 3 PACKS WHEN I WAS STRESSED. 4. do you have any health concerns to vaping.. chest congestion, any coughing, sinus infection etc.. please be as honest as possible. NOTHING AT ALL....I HAVE HAD NO ISSUE WITH VAPING. I HAVE ACTUALLY HAD LESS COLDS IN THE PAST YEAR THAN ANY OTHER TIME IN MY LIFE, SO PERHAPS VAPING HAS MADE MY IMMUNE SYSTEM STRONGER...OR NO SMOKE HAS MADE IT STRONGER. IT WOULD BE SORT OF IDIOTIC IF I WAS COUGHING TO BLAME IT ON VAPING...IF I GOT LUNG CANCER NOW OR IN THE FUTURE IT WOULD BE FROM ALL THE DECADES OF SMOKING I AM SURE, NOT THE VAPING. I THINK IT IS FUNNY WHEN WE KNOW THE POISONS AND CARCINOGENS IN CIGS THAT WE WOULD WORRY ABOUT THE FEW CHEMICALS (MOST OF WHICH ARE ORDINARY THINGS WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ALL OUR LIVES) IN VAPING. YOU REMOVE THE COMBUSTION AND THAT RIGHT AWAY REMOVES THE RESPIRATORY ISSUES....AFTER ALL, MOST PEOPLE IN FIRES DIE FROM SMOKE INHALATION, NOT THE ACTUAL FIRE. OF COURSE THAT IS ASSUMING YOU BUY YOUR LIQUIDS FROM REPUTABLE SUPPLIERS THAT USE USP GRADE INGREDIENTS, MEANT FOR HUMAN INGESTION AND CONSUMPTION. 5. Did you have any recurring health issues that went away because you started vaping.NO, EVEN WITH ALL THAT SMOKING I DIDN'T HAVE ANY COUGH OR ANYTHING. ALSO SEE #4
  12. I have a drawer in my armoire devoted to my stash......rows of bottles of liquids lined up by flavor and/or type.....a box with 15 XL stick batteries...they are our back ups because of the frequent charging, but still, in some vaping emergency, they would work, LOL. Then I have a cotton drawstring bag filled with over 400 cartos ready to go. Plus a little box that has 50+ never used cartos. Then next to me on my nightstand I have my "used carto" container, and another for cart condoms, then 6 liquids I am currently using....topping off cartos with various liquids, LOL. Oh, and shouldn't forget a baggy filled with about 60 empty cartos, clean, dry and ready for use. Then of course I have my case, that I grab if I am going anywhere...that has my two 750mah batts, a bottle of liquid and 8 cartos, plus a couple drip tips. All the while I am happily vaping on my PT that is plugged into my wall outlet adapter, LOL. I just hope in the event of robbery they take EVERYTHING else, NOT my vaping supplies!!!!
  13. Vaporkings.com wall adapter works too....$10 and you can use it for anything with a male usb plug, ipods, etc.
  14. I love having the drip tip on my carto....works great. I think too, like now, I can tell the difference in taste when I need to top it off. At first I would run them dry every time, YUCK. But now I can tell when the difference in taste comes, I just add a few drops. I don't even know the last time I had a carto go dry, has been a long time. I think using a carto with drip tip is the best of both....not constantly dripping but not switching cartos either.
  15. Personally I swear by cartos, they are the only thing I use. I totally disagree with the person who said there is not much you can do to clean them. I have been using the same batch of cartos for a year now and have only had like 10 die. When I get about 20-40 that are filthy I boil them....changing the water about every 15 mins, I do that until the water no longer has an odor and the water is clear. I do this in an electric hot pot in my bathroom, which is right by my bedroom. While the cartos are boiling I watch tv or go online, etc. Then I soak them in everclear or cheap vodka. I soak them anywhere from a couple hours to 24 hours. Then I boil them again until all the alcohol is gone, about another hour worth of boiling and changing water. This might sound like a lot of work, but really it is like 15 minutes, AT MOST, of hands on handling. Most of the time they are just boiling or sitting in the everclear. I then blow out the water and let them dry overnight or longer. After that they are like totally new cartos, no odor, no smell, nothing. When my husband and I started vaping we bought nothing but prefilled cartos so we accumulated hudreds, like a thousand of them, no exaggeration. I have hundreds that are cleaned but in our back up stash. Fortunately I didn't just toss them like they are marketed. I kept thinking....why should I throw away something that is still working? The only person that benefits is the person you are buying them from. There are many youtube videos on cleaning them, various methods, and now I have sort of combined methods. All I know is I haven't bought a single carto in 10 months. I probably can't live long enough to need to buy any, even if 20 died a year. I fill them from the top, just less waste and not near as messy as using the condom method. The cap pops off, using a bobby pin, thick needle, decent toothpick or anything else pointyish, just stick it in the middle and pop it right off. Then you fill until the filler looks wet, but not puddled. What is better about doing it this way is that every carto is different, they do not all hold the same amount of liquid, even when they were all from the same package. So you can see when the filler is actually soaked without overfilling, plus you don't have to wipe all the liquid off the bottom, etc. But we used the cart condom method too when we first started. No matter how you choose to do things, anything is better than smoking! Congrats on your choice!
  16. Hi, and welcome. I understand your situation. I am disabled on disability and have been a single mom and totally understand the financial restraints. Now I am married, but there have been many times in recent years that my husband has been on unemployment. I know everyone will be telling you to get an Ego starter kit, but in your financial situation I would recommend the Riva....it has a longer lasting battery and a starter kit is like half the price....I believe you can get one for like $40, so that would save you 20 right off the bat from what you were figuring. Then I suggest Vapor Renu for juice,....I love their liquid and there are others who do too, but for you the main reason is price....you get 30ml for only $7.49...many vendors charge more than that for 1/3 the amount of liquid. Being on a fixed income you need to be concerned with the price of this entire thing. I buy VR's liquid, just because I like it, but if I was suddenly in a bind then price would play into it. Honestly, in the last year I have had liquid from many vendors that I paid 3 times and more the price and I hated it. Their website is vaporrenu.com and if you use the code nujuice you will get a 15% discount off the price, so even cheaper. Obviously you know that smoking is dangerous. Just google "riva e cig" and find the best price you can on a starter kit. Also read what kind of warranty or customer service the vendor has. I am sure there are people here who can help you with that. I use a different kind of device, but it is the riva with a different thread on it. Riva and Ego have what is called a 510 fitting, the device I use has an 808 fitting. Anyway, I hope someone will help you with that aspect. The batteries do not last forever, it will depend how much you smoked and how much you vape. They generally have a 300 discharge life, which means you can use and recharge the batteries each AROUND 300 times. You would have 2 batteries, so hopefully with two they would last near a year, again, depends how much you use it. That being said I have batteries from a year ago that have been charged multiple times a day and they were cheapo batts, so it just depends. Like any other device, you just don't know. I am just telling you so you are prepared and perhaps each month you can set aside just 5 bucks into a "battery fund" for when you need to get replacements. If you buy the liquid from vapor renu, you will save a ton of money over other places. There are a couple other places that have similar prices, and maybe other people can tell you about those......I just order from VR. There are a lot of great people on here that will help you! I wish you the best of luck! I know how hard it is to be in that kind of situation. I commend you for wanting to make a better choice despite your circumstances. In the long run it comes out cheaper, but initially of course you have to buy the stuff. Again, I wish you the best!
  17. It is supposed to have a shelf life of about 2 years....BUT that is keeping it stored in a cool but not cold, dry place. I never leave mine anywhere...it is either in my case with me, or it is in a drawer that I only keep e liquid and batts, etc in. The only exception is liquid I am actively using that is on a table right near me. I have liquid in the drawer from 11 mos ago that is perfectly fine, I use it and there is nothing wrong with it at all. No goop or particles. Personally i wouldn't use that. The chemical composition of anything can change if exposed to conditions it is not mean to be in for extended amounts of time. I doubt it would make you sick or anything, but it could gunk up your atty/cartos. It is my understanding that the nic level can weaken over time beyond two years...so it still wouldn't be bad, assuming it was stored properly, the nic level would just be less.
  18. THAT is great news Lisa!!!! I haven't had any respiratory issues from smoking. HOWEVER because of all my other problems my doctors have been ragging me forever to stop smoking. My two main doctors know I use the e cig and they TOTALLY support it. ANYONE with half a brain cell knows it has to be safer than smoking....there are few things more dangerous than smoking. I am SO happy to hear that your COPD is doing better, that is excellent news! Amazing what happens when we are no longer filling our airways with smoke!!! I am very happy for you!
  19. HAHA....so true. It is ridiculous, it really is. Let's just demand bans on everything that bothers or offends us. Or let's all just stay in our homes, no one go anywhere and then no one will bother us except our family members...oh, then we can all get divorced and live by ourselves. Let's just go completely nuts and ban everything. The only food that will be sold are vegetables and fruit, nothing else. It is all so stupid. It was bad enough with smoking not to offend anyone. But really, if I offend anyone now they ARE free to just walk away. I have sat next to couples in restaurants where the man has verbally abused the woman, THAT offends me....can I get it banned you think????? I don't like my neighbor who grills and gets smoke in my house every day...can I get it banned???? Oh, I bet not they will tell me to just close my windows.....I don't have the right to breathe clean air, because HE has the right to fill it with all kinds of toxins with his constant burning of charcoal and wood. But they want to ban vaping, BRILLIANT, JUT BRILLIANT!
  20. Vaping is awesome....glad you are enjoying it. I only use cartos. The ones I have had vary a lot in how much they hold, brand new generally between 16-26 drops or so. You get the hang of what it needs to look like. Wet but not puddled on top of the filler. Be sure to not get the liquid down the middle part. Let it soak in for a bit so the liquid soaks down through the filler to get to the atty. Then you can top it off before it gets totally dry, or you will get a nasty burnt taste. You can totally clean that out and it is as good as new again. I only use cartos and have been using cartos I have had for a year. No problems at all and they are still working just fine.
  21. I would have to know the person before I would believe that. Vapor is not smoke and vaping should no more set off a smoke detector than taking a shower would set one off. My husband and I both stood directly under our smoke/heat detectors and just continually blew clouds of vapor at it, not inhaling, just sucking and blowing and nothing happened. By the time it gets near the detector it isn't warm, and it isn't smoke at all, so I don't see how that could happen. Personally i wouldn't even worry about it. Where I vape 95% of the time I am directly underneath a smoke/heat detector and never set it off. Burning toast and various other things have set it off, but not vaping. The reason they don't want you smoking in a hotel is primarily the smell.....then non smokers don't want the room after you stink it up. The secondary reason is the fire hazard, but the primary reason is the cleaning to get rid of the smell, so I wouldn't worry about vaping at all.
  22. I agree, clove can give some blah flavors a kick for sure. Even if they aren't blah, but just needing a kick, clove can help. I can't even vape clove on it's own, it is SOOOOOOO strong, which is helpful for flavors that need that. I added clove to a couple fruits we had when we first started vaping and it really helped.....it sort of reminded me of a spiced cider type of flavor, only with things other than just apple. BUT apple with clove is pretty good....it is like a really spiced cider. I am not so into the fruits, but in the beginning the fruits with clove was one of the few things I could taste at all.....so I agree, clove is helpful....cinnamon is too if it is a strong enough cinnamon...I want to get some of that too.
