  1. Hopefully it does not pass. I called/e-mailed everyone I know in NY to vote against the proposed ordinance. I live in California and I know they sell fruit flavored Swisher tobacco in liquor stores and gas stations (oh, the irony) . So I asked relatives to take pics of them for sale in NY, if there are any, and send it to their council members.

IMO, this is the first step for BT to have their way and ban open systems. so all we have are cigalikes.

  2. I like the smell of unlit tobacco. When out with friends who to still smoke, i grab one just to smell it while I vape. It feels really, really fantastic knowing that it no longer has power over me.

As soon as someone lights up, I make sure I stand farther away. I can't stand burning tobacco... makes me gag.

  3. http://blog.casaa.org/2014/10/call-to-action-new-york-city-is.html

On October 7, 2014, Councilman Constantinides introduced an ordinance that would ban the sale of flavored e-cigarettes and flavored e-liquids in the five boroughs. As is often the case, flavor bans like this are poorly researched and fail to account for the fact that practically ALL e-liquid is “flavored”. Furthermore, this ordinance fails to carve out an exemption for dedicated vapor shops, allowing sales by tobacco bars only.

In short, this would mean the end of vapor sales in New York City as we know it. The ordinance has been referred to the Committee on Health, and it is possible (if not likely) that this proposed ordinance will be heard in committee on Thursday, October 23, 2014. Tri-State area advocates are strongly encouraged to plan to attend. (We will update this Call to Action as additional information becomes available.)

We are asking advocates in the Tri-State area to please contact NYC council members on the Health Committee and thoughtfully express your opposition to this ordinance.

NYC residents can follow the link below to find your council members and contact them directly as well: http://council.nyc.gov/html/members/members.shtml

Residents are encouraged to call and meet with their council members. Please feel free to contact board@casaa.org for tips and guidence with talking to lawmakers.

Please share this Call to Action with anyone you know who lives or works in New York City. In fact, share this with anyone you know who might feel inclined to visit the city.

Participation in this Call to Action is NOT limited to residents of New York City, but if you are not a resident, please edit the letter to share what relationship you may have with New York City (for example, you have family or friends who live there, you plan on visiting, et cetera).

Also, please note that the CQRC campaign sometimes glitches and resets, and, if so, you may lose any edits you make to your email. If you are editing the email, you should consider editing the letter in a word processing program and then copying the final product into the CQRC program.
  4. Efest batteries serve me better than the sony's for some reason, and contrary to what everyone seems to be saying, for that reason, i find them better.

I like LG HE2 over VTC4 as I get a little more mileage from it, but not much.

BTW, Efests (depending on which ones you get) are rewrapped LG HE2 or VTC4, or at least as some claim on reddit and other sites. I am not a battery expert nor have I owned efests, so I cannot confirm.

  5. For me, side effects of too much nic and having a nic withdrawal is almost the same, minus the nausea. It might be different for others.

I get the jitters when my blood sugar gets low. I have normal glucose level but I am somehwat of a gym rat ever since I quit analogs, so when I push my body hard, wham, I get the shakes, and light-headed. Only reason I mentioned that is because I noticed you said you run regularly...

Oh, when I see a vape gear I really like, I get the cold sweats. :)

  6. As I love bakery flavored juices, I am interested in this topic as well. I am selective where I buy my juices from, but I have accepted that some of what I vape have traces of diacetyl. For me it is a calculated risk as I do not vape butttery/custard flavored juices all the time.

Not sure how trace elements of diacetyl affects a person over time. That would probably depend on someone who has pre-existing respiratory problems, and other factors maybe such as genetic pre-desposition for such diseases

Someone was awarded a multi-million settlement for developing popcorn lung. He ate 2 bags of popcorn a day for 10 years+

  7. I hear you, man. Lots of higher wattage APV coming down the pipeline soon which is my only reason for waiting.
There will be firmware updates and probably newer versions. These companies do not want to play catch up. When someone releases 50W - another will release 75W just to undercut the other one. Next thing you know we are at 180W.
Yeah, Smy is relatively unknown. With my bad experiences with cloupor and Hana modz in the early stages of the 30W rollout,I ended up with Dovpo E-Mech. I was reluctant getting them because they are not a mainstream brand but am very glad of that decision. It turned up to be rock solid for what I needed them for.
With that line of reasoning, I am keeping an open mind with Smy, not that I need 180W (75W is probably all I will ever need) but I likethe triple cell and how it looks, and the price is not so bad compared to others.
In the end, I will most likely go for what I feel is the most reliable one in the 75W+ segment whoever they might be. I am in no hurry and my mechs willhave to suffice if I want to go low on my builds.
I am also contemplating getting SX350 chip to do a little project but don't have time to do that and I have to be in the mood for a project like that.Otherwise, I will never finish it.
Let us know how yours is when you get it... sharing is caring. :)
  8. You know, as a dedicated vapor that loves the hobby, I would encourage anyone and everyone to frown on cloud comps. Make then the bane of the vaping world. Oh ya, you cloud comp? What a dumbass! Lost any teeth lately?

They are simply childish. Its like handing out dynamite to children then telling them to have some sort of competition with it.

Its all very subjective anyways, and in no way does it improve the public opinion of the vaping community.

Especially when this happens, and it will always happen when you are trying to control a stick of potential dynamite.

    Just saying is all, :?)

Whoa... that's one way to alienate a segment of your demographic market as a premium supplier. :)
I'm not cloud chaser nor participate in any competitions, but I respect everyone's vaping methodology, or how they spend and choices in their gear for that matter.
Not sure if this post is an attempt to be edgy, entertaining, or expressing how you really feel about how others vape. If you are truly conveying concern about the possible ramifications on safety and how it may impact regulations, there are more objective ways in expressing them without prejudice.
Organized competions or not, somewhere, someome, without the proper equipment and know-how will have an accident. At least with venues like these, you have experienced cloud chasers mentoring others new to the scene. And kudos to the organizer for temporarily shutting it down to hold a safety course. Maybe in the future, all events will hold one prior to the start of an event.
  9. Dovpo is actually an ODM, as well as an OEM.. They will customize it for you (rebrand it or use your own company logo) if you are willing to shell out a one-time customization fee.

VT can have their own logos on it if Chris wants them. :)

But Chinese will clone anything so that is a possibility. However, I do not think they are that popular enough that warrants a clone. It's a niche market.

  10. I love my RDAs and they still top the Orchid in flavor, and will always remain my favorite. Vapor is about the same. The difference in flavor is not far off and I find that a happy compromise in exchange for not topping off all the time. Topping off RDA is not a big deal but when travelling quite a bit like I am doing lately, it really gets on my nerves sometimes. :)

Orchid is basically more like a kayfun/fogger, So there was a slight learning curve for me the first day. Lots of leaking and I had to re-wick it 3 times only to find out it was my filling technique that was wrong. haha

If you do decide to give it a try, consider getting the V2 or a top fill cap for easy filling. But even without them, it is easy to fill without having leaking problems, just cover the airholes and chimney when filling them up.

  11. Awesome if they have a V4. I have not kept up with the versions. But I can confirm that with V2 (got mine mid-July) there were none of the issues others were complaining about, and apart from falling down a lot and the firmware, most of them were really just cosmetic. I think the only place you will ever find a V1 is on auction sites, because when I was looking for it, that was the only place where you could have gotten it Dovpo really listened to their early adopters , and made the necessary changes very fast on their next production.

I went without the logos too, but they did send me some stickers with it. haha I like the feel of it, especially grooves. It fits very natural to me. it is not awkward to hold compared to conventional box mods.

  12. I know exactly how you feel. I have at least a dozen or so KP tanks of all kinds that I no longer use, and every time I go back to them, it is not the same as I remember them. Sad part is, I stocked up on coils. haha So they all went to my emergency bags.

But I think I found my unicorn - Orchid. Then again, I say that every other week or so. Seriously though, it is liberating. I can now fully enjoy vaping on the go without compromise. I think my RDAs will be only for weekends from now on.
