  1. Kit is exactly right, I have rationalized it like this; my kids may have to go to community college because I gave up cigs for vaping but at least I will now be around to laugh at them!
  2. Do i smell a new forum game? "things that will happen before the Maserati is released"
  3. As I mentioned in my initial review, I wanted to post a follow up to my "after 5 hours" review. The initial review contains all the properties of the mod and description. You can find that information here: http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/topic/6059-the-buzz-first-impression/ This post is strictly supplemental to that review after 2 weeks of constant use Appearance: After 2 weeks of use, I did come to appreciate the size. The length is about the same as the Silver Bullet but the width is quite a bit smaller. It feels very good in the hand and is surprisingly comfortable in both the chest pocket of a suit or the front pocket of pants/slacks. The end caps are made of brass and do dull as brass often does, this isn't a big deal to me but I would have enjoyed nickel plated more. I think it would have looked better. The button was the real pleasant surprise. After using big honkin' buttons for all my devices it was a unusual to see this tiny button on the device. I was a bit apprehensive at first; Would it hold up? will I be comfortable with it? etc. While it is a mechanical switch and will eventually go off in a pocket, the diminutive button face seems to reduce this eventuality. A master on/off control would be a very nice addition. Performance: The best compliment I can give is that nothing has changed since my first review. The performance is the same every minute of every day. When the batteries die, they just stop working, there is not any degradation of voltage. I found my ideal voltage (4.35V) the third day I had it and never touched it again until 15 minutes ago preparing for this summary. The voltage was still at 4.35V. This does use smaller mah batteries (I am using 880s) so I had to become accustomed to keeping an extra set with me as I am a heavy vapor. This ultimately was not a big issue for me but is an adjustment if you are keen on 2400mah batteries. The final item that I noticed is that I am quite OCD when it comes to atties being clean, liquid taste is probably the most important element of vaping for me. Perhaps HV users can confirm their experiences but I have noticed that my atties now have far less buildup on them at the end of the day. I suspect that when battery voltage decreases the atomizer is less efficient at burning off the liquid. I can't explain that scientifically but I haven't cleaned an atomizer in 2 weeks, other than blowing about .5ML of PG through them every night and then storing them upside down. The flavor has been as depenable as the performance. Summary: While thinking about this final review, I realized that the Buzz reminds me of when I bought one of the original iPods, the fist gen white ones with the Liquid Crystal display. It took something I was familiar with (MP3 files) and enhanced the presentation of them. The original ipod wasn't as good looking as it could have been and there were plenty of features that could be added but the base idea was solid and demonstrated the future of a product line. To me, the Buzz is similar in that regard. I am not suggesting that one day, the designer of the device will be standing in an arena, with a black turtleneck and jeans spewing off details about the new 3G Buzz, exclusively available at At&T stores, but hey, ya never know. Wrapping up, the designer has indicated that a 510 native model was in the works and should be available sometime soon (Before Duke Nukem 2 or The Mazzerati e-cig). I recommend this to anyone who wants a high voltage device AS WELL as a standard voltage device. If you desire consistent performance or want flexibility, this is the technology for you. The Buzz is a fine device, just like my old original issue ipod, there will be plenty of knockoffs and upgrades to the original but quite simply, it does what it is supposed to do and I certainly recommend this model to those who ask. O.k. Thats it for me, I am going back to reading reviews. I hope you found this helpful. --Burn
  4. My MM is an 18650, not 14500 but when I put a IMR (really useless, by the way) in the device it wasn't that it had a length issue, it was much more narrow. I corrected it with a rubber band, and then retired the IMR batteries as I ONLY noticed decreased capacity and not a single performance benefit.
  5. Why David, Are you suggesting that a report generated at a University that coincidentally happens to be located in a state where tobacco farming is a main industry would produce a report that was not in the best interest of the public but instead in the best interest of the local economy? For shame, Mr. Larson, for shame.....
  6. Looks like a tapered version of the SB, with a button that appears to be very easy to go off in the pocket. Venting in the event of battery failure seems to be non existent. I wonder if there are any performance enhancements as well, in comparison to the SB? The review and specs will be interesting. I do not agree that a tapered body, mechanical switch and nickel plating is "innovation", if the performance and safety features have not been improved. That is my take, at least.
  7. FYI, you just gained 27 best friends with that statement.....
  8. Buzz should confirm this as I did not want to void my warranty but I all indications show that it is reasonably sealed. I did play with the voltage the first day or 2 but once I found my ideal voltage, I haven't touched it in a few days (4.35V) I cant think of any other reason I would touch it with the atties I use, I will crank it up to 6V when I use cartos. I will probably keep my eGo's for traveling. I will be traveling the next 2 weeks and I am dreading leaving my BUZZ at home.
  9. ROFL and LMAO This thread is AWESOME, Joe upset that nobody reads his post, Kit just says "Chris...." and there Jeff is, 12 minutes later. That just MADE my lunch break! I Love you, VT!!!
  10. not a common request, usually the opposite. I am now waiting for the "I hate thick vapor" and "I hate strong flavored liquid posts". The one think I will add is that all VG really seems to mute TH for me.
  11. for me, the black piece seems softer than plastic, like a seal. I dont flood the atty with 4.5 nearly as much as I did with other models, I think this is because of the consistent power, 3 drops all the time seems to burn off well, including the caffeine infused juices I use. If the battery is weaker and putting out 15% less power, it is reasonable to expect that it may not burn off all 3 drops as it does at full power. This is just a reasoned guess. Anyways, leaking is not an issue when flooded, I did check when I was concerned. I think you can see why I was so enthused. I am going to buy a second one (backup) and probably post some of my other mods/units on the trade forum. The native 510 is on its way and I will be getting one of those when they are ready.
  12. I remember watching the 2nd newhart show ending when it debuted (I think 1991 0r 92?) Still one of the most clever endings to a show I can recall.
  13. If by best you mean cheapest, you may want to shop around (price grabber, etc.)the model is Ultrafire wf-139 However, 2 reliable retailers with fast shipping that I have purchased from are: http://www.lighthound.com/Ultrafire-WF-139-Charger-for-14500-17500-18500-18650-RCR123-37-volt-Lithium-Battery-Charger_p_2279.html and http://www.batteryjunction.com/wf-139-.html Conversely, if you just want price and don't mind waiting a month, chinese retailers always have a good deal for you. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251 (and free shipping!) (if you are in the market for some 18650 batteries, the middle link also offers a kit, which is 2 batteries and the charger.
  14. You are right, I do not, I don't have a tattoo or even wear any jewelry besides my wedding ring. I pierced my ear once when I was a teenager but my father LITERALLY filed a motion with the Social Security office to change my legal name to "Nancy". I took the earring out......
  15. It could be you, just like it was me..... the first batch I got, i did not like very much, at first. (while everyone raved about the flavor) I added some Ethyl Maltol, which helped. It also was ALOT better about a week later. I asked VapeRite to 1) increase the flavor 20% and make it with 30% PG this time. Now, it is PERFECT but it does have to "age" a lttle while. I have the same issue with some of my DIY's as well as MsT's flavors. They dont taste right or even good, in some cases, at first and then in a week, they are great. I have a Vanilla and also a Black Forest Cake flavorings from DV that I have to mix a week before I vape it. I have no idea why......
  16. How is that different than effective wattage output, considering resistance? I am curious. I saw your post describing this and how it was measured but It just appeared to be another way to measure joule's law http://thelocust.net/ohm/ Even so, the fact that batteries diminish over usage leading to inconsistent results, sucks.
  17. o.k.you can do it. (but your not getting away without a disclaimer) I have a SB and I would NEVER stack any batteries in them, including protected. The reason is that the build is so solid, if ANYTHING were to happen and the batteries released gas, pressure would build and the only area that is weak enough to fault is the atty connection. This could result in the atty literally being turned into a bullet/projectile. I think this is VERY dangerous and it has happened before with the Chuck. The design issue is the same. I know you like the idea of metal inserted into your skin, perhaps you would set a new trend with an atty piercing your tonsils....... I think Mark's mod is FAR safer for that type of setup as it can vent. Honestly, I would have spent $30 more and got a Buzz, which would give you 6.0 volts, 5.7V, 5.1V, 4.35V etc. etc. It is vented and designed for stacked batteries. A native 510 model is in production.
  18. Back to sweet tooth vapes today. Made a mix from DV, 50/50 mix of choc Au lait and Coconut. Very similar to a mounds bar, not overly sweet but a really clean vape. Regardless of my "flavor of the day" I can not kick my "VapeRite Organic Bananas Foster" habit at night. I am not sure I can go to sleep without it. if you havent tried VapeRite juices, you really are missing out on a stellar line of "made to order" e-juice.
  19. If you prefer, I can show you where you can get e-juice flavorings made from Ghost Chili peppers (people on Vid chat may remember my experiment with that) It isn't as much a throat hit as it is a chest punch but I can GUARANTEE you that you will feel it! Welcome to the forum
  20. I am familiar with this kit and what you should have received is a small white box containing individually wrapped black cylinders, about 1.25 In long and 1/2 in wide. In addition, when you buy a 510 kit from the VT store you should have had to select a free bottle of juice as well. If you did receive a bottle of juice but not the cartridges, we can get you vaping within minutes! (you will find that you will likely not use carts in 2-6 weeks, anyways)
  21. trail/error, minimum orders/shipping, etc. It will probably be more expensive than the actual mod. You can get them fairly cheap ($30 - $50) it really depends on what you want it to be able to do. I have an idea for a fairly sophisticated mod and I priced out some of the materials and it was close to $200.00 (including tools, shipping, etc.) for the prototype, I wouldn't really see good pricing until I bought in bulk and had the system down. There are some that read this that may have built some and can give you a better qualification but my opinion is that you really do not save alot (or any) $$ on making just one. Some materials, such as an atty connector, you will having a hard time finding other than online.
  22. Thanks for the World of Warcraft flashback. **waiting for facial tick to subside**
  23. today's flavor is a mix from Decadent vapors, Green cow. It is a fruity pomegranate flavor with 2.5 % infused caffeine. I like it more and more as I go along, just ordered a few more bottles. Great summer vape.
  24. 2) cartos work fine, same as usual. I prefer my cartos on high volt so it is convenient to be be able to crack it up on same device as my regular atty. 3) I like the 901 - 510 adapter quite a bit better than 510 - 801/901 adapters. However this only leave this adapter as the "tallest midget". It is manageable and It doesnt stop me from buying the device or it becoming my primary. native 510 would have been ideal and I do believe it is a matter of time until 510 is offered as native. This is only my opinion, I base this on nothing but observation. 4) Size is not bad to me at all, I was carrying around the Silver Bullet for the past month and it is smaller than that. It wont fit in a shirt pocket discreetly but I do keep it in my pants pocket for dress slacks and on the inside pocket of my suits and it is fine and hasnt misfired. I dont think it will go into a snug pair of jeans, I can only use an eGo on those type of jeans and you dont really want to do that anyways as the eGo is a "misfire" machine in pants pockets. 3 days into the "Buzz" era and I cant see myself EVER buying another mod or device that isnt regulated and variable. Very consistent performance.
  25. This is a quality supplier but i have not had good luck with the fruit or mint ranges. The bakery stuff is A++. My favorite is to mix Butterscotch pudding and French toast together 50/50. One tip, she sells a product called a "bottle buddy", stupid name aside, this is very handy. I can keep 2 bottles of juice and 1 backup battery (yes, an eGo battery just fits). It can go on your keychain and is not that big at all. She always has a weekly/monthly promotion of 3 themed flavors (coffees one week, muffins the next, smoothies the next, etc.) of 6ml + the bottle buddy. http://mstsbakery.com/index.php?cPath=66&osCsid=f9115d68cad81640cbed9fdd8e958652 Bonus tip: add her to your facebook, every once in awhile she gives this bottle container away with a $15 purchase and advertises it on FB.
