I quit smoking for 5 years at one period, and continued chewing nicorette. For both my health insurance and life insurance screens I was rated a "smoker" even though I hadn't had a cigarette in years, and I pay for both accordingly.

A new commercial spot review from AdFreak on a Nicorette "Inhaler" shows clips from stars in old movies "smoking" with the inhaler superimposed over where the cigarette was. I don't see any vapor. Just something that looks like a big suppository. Nicorette Inhaler Commercial Does anyone know about this? Is this new or I just never heard of it before? It looks to me like they're getting into the act in Europe...

FYI... According to the Electronic Cigarette Association yesterday, the NY State bill has been recommended for review by their Health committee. I posted about this last week. I was a noobie, though so could only paste in that section. They are not just seeking to ban e-cigarettes to minors, but all sales of e-cigs and e-juice because they are not approved by the FDA. "PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill seeks to ban the sale and distribution of items containing or delivering nicotine that are not currently classified as tobacco products or approved as tobacco use cessation or harm reduction products by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and also to prevent minors from purchasing these products. " I wrote some letters to the assemblymembers who are sponsoring the bill, and emailed them directly as opposed to posting in that comments box. I will now move onto those that are not sponsors, hoping to get someone in our corner who can defeat the bill. I think they're voting soon, though. I hope everyone who cares about keeping your vaping rights will write as well. I hope everyone does, because if NY enacts this I'm sure other states will follow.

I've gotten headaches and a sore throat right at the beginning too. I think I overdid it because I can sit and vape at my desk all day whereas I used to have to get up and go out for a real cigarette (and it was winter--brr). Over the course of a few weeks, however, I realized I was vaping less and less, and not craving the nicotine as much as I did with real cigarettes -- I'm convinced it's because of the additional addictive chemicals they pump into cigarettes to make you even more hooked than nicotine could ever make you. Keeping water next to you is a good idea, and it's healthy to drink water throughout the day, anyway, so another benefit!

Shouldn't they need to prove it's NOT healthy before making the accusation? I wrote some letters to the assemblymember co-sponsors of the bill last night -- there are a lot of them, but I recommend that everyone who lives in NY do the same.

Thank you! I'm so worried about this. I've been so grateful to finally be able to quit and get that monkey off my back. I feel that together, we can educate these lawmakers and demand that they do research to back up their claims before they're banned.

I joined this forum because I recognize, as many do, that banding together with other vapers is extremely important as the government seeks to squash our rights to use e-cigarettes. This new bill introduced in New York State Senate is on the third reading, which means very shortly it will be up for vote.
