  1. Welcome to VaporTalk!!! The claim that one carto = one pack of smokes is one thing of many that initially drew my interest in making the decision to quit. I'm sure this claim, among others, captured the attention of a lot of people. However the math was done to figure out this claim, there is a glaring preponderance of evidence to suggest the contrary. Which brings up a point that a close friend of mine gave me to think on before I went and bought a kit. He asked me, "By who's standard is the claim based on?" Is it your standard of nicotine intake? It certainly is not mine. But, hey....it might very well work for Joe Six-Pack down the street. Thus is the importance of doing a ton of research beforehand. I did, and I will still be learning and experimenting for years to come. Truth be told, I'm having a lot more pleasant of a quitting experience than any other time I've tried before. The other big thing you can do for yourself, is have a support system in place. This forum has been absolutely wonderful for that. Everyone here is very helpful, and understands just how hard it is to kick the habit. For me, this has been a useful tool, as practically everyone I know either smokes, or have never smoked and do not understand why smokers cannot just simply quit. Making the decision to cut analogs is highly admirable, and no small task. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, and again, welcome to the forum!
  2. Well, that's good to know. Thanks for posting that Rixter!! Just picked up a MT3 from DiscountVapers, and will most definitely employ this hack once I get it. Hopefully, the "Kangergate" issue will work itself out before I have to pick up some replacement heads.
  3. Got myself a new clearomizer, carrying case, and a small bottle of RY4 from Nic Station; a local vendor I wanted to scope out. The guy running the place seemed nice enough, and their prices aren't too bad....especially for mall kiosk. Dude said the clearo is a CE6, but I'm having serious doubts about that claim, as I'm having a hard time finding replaceable heads online, let alone a vendor that sells a 1.6 ml capacity CE6. (The ones I'm finding are all 5ml tanks.) Still looks nice, though. I'm really digging on it!!! Whether the clearo works out or not in the long term, it is nice knowing I have a local vendor that I can go pick up a single bottle of juice for less than the cost of juice + shipping from an online source in the event of running out of juice before my online orders arrive in the mailbox.
  4. A little light reading for a Sunday afternoon....thanks, Rixter!!! The big list did, however, mention Dekang....in a mythical sense, referring to their 2009 formula. Don't know why their current formula failed to make the report card, though.
  5. Earlier today, my buddy brought me some of his RY4 to try out. ZOMFG, I am in vape heaven!!! My only complaint is that this one (made by Wicked Vapors, I believe) has a slight cough-syrup taste. Since I am planning on ordering some more juice this coming week (and being completely new to the wide world of Vaping), I was wondering which company makes the most quintessential version of this delectable vape-nectar. Let the great eJuice debate begin!!!
  6. "60% of the time, it works EVERY time," right??? Great tip....I'll have to try it out once I get some new liquids, and the hang of properly drawing vapor.
  7. Thank you all for the replies, and advice!! My kits arrived this afternoon, and now the learning curve begins....
  8. Didn't see any reviews for this site, so I guess I'll put one up. Got my order today from www.e-smokeytreats.com. Everything arrived well-packed, and in good working condition. Considering that I had placed my order Thursday afternoon, having it arrive with Monday's mail constitutes an EXCELLENT turnaround for shipping time. Their prices are exceptional, too! For $76 (US), I got an eGo starter kit, a 510 starter kit, two 10ml bottles of liquid (26mg strength), an empty 10ml needle-tipped mixing bottle, and a drip-tip. Shipping is fair. Orders of $0.00 - $49.99 is $5, $50.00 - $74.99 is $8, and anything over $75 the shipping is free. Customer service is outstanding. The cartridges that come with the 510 kit are pre-filled, while the carts in the eGo kit were supposed to be blank. I sent them a request asking for the 510 carts to be blank. When I unpacked my order, they had personally hand-written me on the invoice that the carts in the kits came pre-filled from the factory, and therefore included blanks with my order free of charge. (Winning!!! ) Because this is my first experience with the Vaping world, I cannot give an accurate comment on the liquids. Suffice to say that I'm happy with my purchase, and this company. I will definitely do business with them again!!!
  9. When I made the decision a couple weeks ago to quit the Cancer Sticks in favor of vaping, I was quite literally flying blind. This has honestly been the longest period I've had to prepare myself to make another quitting attempt. So, I've made good use of that time, and already have done a lot of homework on PVs, smoking cessation, vaping techniques, etc. Hell, I even took a peek at the scary (for a rank n00b) world of MODs.... To be honest, it has been an enlightening, albeit overwhelming, last couple of weeks. Now, I have a battle plan, and a support system in place. I've made my first PV supply order, and it arrives in the next day or two. Yet, there are still a couple of questions that I cannot find the answers to. 1) Being as I plan on Direct Dripping most of the time, do I need to clean or switch out the attys every time I decide to switch up my flavors? If so, could you please describe the process? 2) I've ordered both an eGo starter kit, and a 510 starter kit as they are interchangeable, and both perfect for my needs. If I ever wanted to upgrade, or play around with my setup, are the eGo batteries also interchangeable with eGo-T / C / eGo-whatever setups? If not, could you please list a couple of cool add-ons for the eGo batts that I could look into? Sorry for the long-winded post. To be quite honest, I am very apprehensive about this endeavor. Also, being new, I really do not know quite yet how to word things for brevity on this subject. Please understand that I just want to be prepared so that things will go as smoothly as possible. Thanks in advance!!! -Steve
  10. Hello, All!! My name is Steve, and as the title says, I hail from the rainy Pacific NW. For years I've been trying (to no avail) to kick the analog habit....as a 20+ year smoker, I'm sure several people can relate to just how hard it is to up and quit. I think I've "quit" somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 or 7 times by now, LOL!!! Lately, between my health and finances, someone proposed the idea of going on the e-cig bandwagon. I figured it wouldn't hurt to entertain the idea, and do some research....then some more research.....and some more research on top of what I've already done. Somewhere along the lines I found this forum.....which has been more helpful, and with warmer members than anything I've found thus far. So, I've made the leap of faith and placed my first PV order (510 + eGo starter kits, drip-tip, and e-Juice). Hopefully, I can count on some of you guys for some support in this fight to finally conquer the demon destined to kill me, and possibly make some friends along the way!!! Cheers!!! -Steve
