Charging Battery Question

Hello Vapors!

I'm new to vaping (of course). So far my collection is a Nebula from Vapornine.com (uses "cartomizers"), An M401 from MyPVshop.com (it looks like a cigarette), and a Protege from Puresmokers.com. The Protege is a special treat for direct dripping after a hard day's work.

Anyway, my noobie question is ... am I damaging or shortening the life of the batteries by leaving them on the charger. The Nebula and the M401 I use regularly but the Protege (3.7v) hardly gets used. Maybe an hour or so a day. So the battery never really gets depleted. But I keep them charged for vapor quality. What do you think?

Welcome Aquifan ! Well, Ima probably no help here, but I CAN tell you it doesnt matter with my 510. I leave it on a charger overnight all the time. Im sur someone will pop in here soon and answer for your model. Again, welcome, and keep us posted !

My understanding of Li-ion batteries is that they do not have a charge memory. In fact I've read where they actually work best if you do not allow them to fully discharge frequently. Check out this link... http://www.batteryun.../parttwo-34.htm

How to prolong lithium-based batteries (BU34)

Battery research is focusing heavily on lithium chemistries, so much so that one could presume that all portable devices will be powered with lithium-ion batteries in the future. In many ways, lithium-ion is superior to nickel and lead-based chemistries and the applications for lithium-ion batteries are growing as a result.

Lithium-ion has not yet fully matured and is being improved continuously. New metal and chemical combinations are being tried every six months to increase energy density and prolong service life. The improvements in longevity after each change will not be known for a few years.

A lithium-ion battery provides 300-500 discharge/charge cycles. The battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible. Instead, charge the battery more often or use a larger battery. There is no concern of memory when applying unscheduled charges.

Although lithium-ion is memory-free in terms of performance deterioration, batteries with fuel gauges exhibit what engineers refer to as "digital memory". Here is the reason: Short discharges with subsequent recharges do not provide the periodic calibration needed to synchronize the fuel gauge with the battery's state-of-charge. A deliberate full discharge and recharge every 30 charges corrects this problem. Letting the battery run down to the cut-off point in the equipment will do this. If ignored, the fuel gauge will become increasingly less accurate.

Hey there! I usually leave my batteries on the chargers sometimes days at a time. So far i havent had any problems with them! No sign of shortened life or getting hot on the charger. I would definitely follow the instructions that came with your kit on charging the battery. But in my opinion, it doesnt matter

Once the green light turn on your good to go. It will cut of the charger and stop charging the battery

I had never even heard of electronic cigs until I did some research towards quitting analogs (1 to 2 packs for 22 yrs!).

I "Smoked" my last analog on Nov 22nd 2009.

Vaping is better!

And it's good to have support out there!
