  1. Most of the snowbanks have gone, the dirt driveway has firmed up and the dust clouds behind the tractor trailers have settled down. One more good rain and I'll be pulling the old CBR out of the garage, That is unless the farmers start dragging the fields into the roads..........

  2.  i have the nitecore i2 which works awesome and the efest luc v4 charger and it also works like a champ.  I like that the efest came with a 12v plug so i can also use it in my car, i has a usb charger for phone but i dont think mine work, i have to see really didnt play with it.

I will say the luc v4 feels extremely sturdy.

Either case i would go with the digital version, has better details than just 3 blinking lights to tell you how long left on a charge.

The 4 bay nitecore I got is the one with the 3 blinking lights, didn't really need it, but I got 2 micro deans connectors from the Hobby Shop for $2, and it took me 5 min to solder the deans on the leads for the battery. If I was going to buy the charger I would have gone for the digital.

I use my USB car adapter that I got for my S5 to run the i2 in the work truck. It works on both the 1 amp and the 2.1 amp side, but I usually use the 2.1 side as I believe it says to use a 2 amp supply.

  3. I have the Nitecore 2 bay digital in my work truck, and the Efest Luc V4 in the house. Both have given me no issues. Just traded one of the counter guys at the local B&M a micro deans and soldering it on the battery for his "god box" for the non digital nitecore 4 bay, haven't had a chance to use it yet.

  4. I got a Mini a couple months ago. I use 50/50 juice about 30mL a week, the first coil lasted about a month, maybe a little less. The extra one that came with it lasted about 3 or 4 days. I keep it set around 8 watts, never over 10. Coils generally last me around 2 weeks on average.Towards the end of the life of the coil, I get exactly what the OP described. Sounds like shen is on the mark to me, time to clean it out and get a new coil.

  5. I have used a couple of the new ones with the cotton. There is more flavor, but the life of the atomizer has cut in half. To be honest, I would sacrifice the added flavor for the longer life of the older atomizers. I go through about 30mL a week and the new ones seem to plug up in less than 2 weeks, was getting almost a month from the old ones before a change out.

  6. To my knowledge, I could be wrong, so far there aren't any laws except for State and County office buildings. Unless you are in NYC, there e-cigs have the same rules as analogs.

That being said, I always ask if it's OK when I am at a bar, the vaping bone seems just as connected as the smoking bone is to the drinking bone. I generally don't vape in any public building, movie theaters, malls, restaurants etc. In fact one of the local malls has a rule of no tobacco or e-cigs on the premises, but I only go there if the wife and daughter drag me there any way.

  7. Single cell LiPos are much less prone to charging issues than 2S packs. The issue with 2S is that the cells don't always charge/discharge at the same rate. Hence the balance board pictured above. Generally, not always, a LiPo pack will burst when the user has tried to charge on a setting other than one meant for LiPo. LiPo chargers charge on a CC/CV method. LiPo chargers (like the one Will pictured) first charge at a constant amp rate, and when the charger senses that the battery pack has reached a set voltage (usually 4.2v/cell) the charger switches to a constant voltage charge, dropping the amp rate as the battery reaches a full charge. That is the basic description, I don't know exactly how the charger determines the full charge.

A charger meant for NiMh or NiCd charges at a constant current (amp rate) until it sees a voltage drop of between .02 and .04 volts in the battery depending on the charger. When charging a LiPo this way the LiPo battery, single or mulit-cell does not produce the voltage drop, and the charger just continues to pump juice into the battery over charging it and causing a fire.

The Balance Board between the charger and the LiPo sack allows the charger to monitor individual cells in a multi-cell pack.

I've personally seen a LiPo fire. Long story short it was a 2S pack that had not been balance charged in many months, and wasn't balanced when it was being charged. Best guess of any one that was there was that it was so unbalanced one cell went up. Luckily it was in a sack, and it gave enough time to get a fire extinguisher. Another lesson there is don't think you can leave them unattended in a sack, all the sack does is give you time to get the fire extinguisher. The sack that particular battery was in was ashes in less than a minute.

Not trying to scare anyone away from LiPos, just expressing the need for caution and safety. I am sitting 6 feet from 2 2S packs and 2 or 3 single cell LiPos as I type.

I am not sure about the IMR cells (18650 etc) chemistry (is that the right word?) and their potential issues/quirks yet, but I am researching it.

Sorry for the long post, but LiPo safety is a big deal at a R/C race when there are a hundred guys with 2 or 3 packs each in 1 building.

  8. Coffee from the local B&M, is about the only flavor I have used for about the last year I think, maybe longer. I usually find a flavor I like and stick with it until I it stops tasting good, usually a couple months, but the coffee just keeps hanging in there. Red Bull lasted a while before that, I think they call it "Energy Drink" now. I got a couple bottles of it last summer when they screwed up the coffee by mixing it 50/50 with vanilla.

My wife switches and mixes flavors just about every time she refills a tank. Picked up her ecig by mistake while watching TV one night, I almost gagged. I asked her wat flavor it was, she had mixed Eggnog with Marlboro........

  9. Having not used the istick, and recently switching to the VTR, I like the VTR way better than the ego cells, which I now use as back up. Just a heads up, I found out the hard way that the protected cells for the flashlights do NOT work in the VTR, they are too long.

And as far as the powerstrokes go, I just traded in my 99 7.3 for a 08 6.4, so I may be taking you up on the offer!lol

  10. I liked my 30s from the first hit. Over the last almost 5 years I have gone from my original Ego with the screwon atomiser and little tip stuffed with cotton to the bigger cotton stuffed cartomisers, to the IC4 and 16 to a T-3 tank, and finally the IC30s. The T-3 was ok, but I was burning through atomisers every week or faster. The 30s was good on the Ego cells, but I finaly got a VTR, and now I like the 30s even more. There is a rare dry hit when the fluid level gets low, but nothing regular. I can generally run the tank until it's empty with no dry hits. I haven't tried building my own coils or dripping, as I am a traveling service tech and don't like the idea of dripping at 70 MPH on the highway, so a tank is the way to go for me. I like the VW feature as I don't have to worry about chaseing settings if I get a different rated coil. The coils are a bit pricy, I was going through 1 about every 2 weeks on the ego cells, but I have yet to change the one I am useing currently since I got the VTR 3 weeks ago. Still even at $3 each not bad for 2 weeks.

As far as top or bottom coil, I rarely hold it upright while in use, usually almost flat while resting my arm on the truck door.

The tank has no issues, doesn't leak, no cracks or crazing, and I am on my first one that is somewhere in the neighborhood of a year old and it has been dropped many times. I also used to carry it in my Jeans front pocket with the screwon batteries. I don't use fruity flavors, mostly coffee. 11mg 50/50 mix from the local store.

  11. Thanks all for the replies. I was very hesitent to cut a cell open, that's why I asked.

I did not relaize that Manufacturers were useing cut offs lower than 3.2v, I was under the imprssion that 3.2v was a standard.

  12. I just read the Battery guide posted here, and think I may be mis informed a bit on the cells. But the cells for my nitecore light are too long for the VTR, and they are supposedly 18650 cells.

  13. Hello all

I have been vapeing for about 5 years and have just gotten away from the pen cells. I recently picked up a Itaste VTR. I was wondering if anyone has removed the "protection" from one of the 18650 cells for flashlights for use in an ecig. I am curious because I see the protected cells advertised upwards of 5000mAh, while the unprotected cells seem to max out around 3400 and are much more expensive. The VTR will not accept a protected cell as they are too long. I was hopeing that someone has some info on this.
