  1. Updated: Commissioned build; few co-workers were asking and I had some spare parts so this is the result. Two 510s and one 808; fits (most) 18650s or 2xRCR123a.
  2. Okay, this is one of my latest flashlight mods... I'm calling it the BTV ('bama trailer vapor) since it's a take on the trailerpark/magnum and the GLV. Believe it or not, the build time for a mod like this is roughly 30 min. No solder was used; everything is either crimped or has screwed down connections. The side mounted atty connection tube is actually a pair of old cartomizer tubes; one was cut open to accommodate tool access and the other was cut down the middle and slid over the exposed area. Bottom cap was salvaged from a 20oz bottle of soda because it just happened to have the proper fit and finish.
  3. I have an Indulgence with the extended cup for an 18650 and that thing is huge! I was coming off two different 14500 mods that were pretty reasonable size-wise & the Indulgence looked like a freaking police baton in comparison. I just recently finished a flashlight mod to be used with the 18650s that I had left over and I've been using it daily and it's really not much larger or longer than the batter stacked with a carto on top. For me, it's way more convenient to only have to worry about a single battery and maybe a few cartos when I'm out. Like you said though, different strokes for different folks.
  4. Just built this guy right here last night... It's modeled after the magnum/trailerpark flashlight mods. With the exception of the headcap assembly, all parts came from the flashlight itself. The headcap is a steel 1/4" push nut washer cap fitted with a 510 connector and insulated with epoxy. 510 connector was press-fit into the cap after a grueling session with the dremmel. Body of the flashlight was expanded slightly to allow the cap assembly to be press-fit; subsequent flared edge was folded back over the headcap and planished down to secure it in place. I've yet to put any ventilation for possible battery failures, but since the grade of aluminium is so low, I would imagine that the bottom would just fire off in case of extreme pressure. Takes a standard protected 18650 or any combination that would fit in that area. Tested last night with two Tenergy LiFePO4 RCR123A 3v stacked for 6v; worked well enough, but almost fried another carto in the process of testing. The diameter of the flashlight is about a mm wider than a 18650 so there's a cardboard sleeve in the tube the length of the body to keep the battery from rattling around. Switch is located on the butt-cap of the flashlight as original biased switch was modded to be momentary; position is slightly annoying, but manageable. I'm looking into replicating the look and feel of the button on the Super6 to alleviate my annoyances. Size wise, it's not much longer than a bare 18650; my Indulgence with sleeve was massive and looked like a police baton in comparison. Performance is what you would expect from an 18650 mod. Overall, I'm impressed with how well it turned out since most of my endeavors like this end up being total disasters. What do you guys think?
  5. Are you opposed to buying empty cartos and filling them? There's plenty of places to buy those... If you want to drip, get a 901 atty, they're thread compatible. Also look into getting a drip tip, those things are really convenient. There's also the option of getting an adapter to use your existing batteries with 801 or 510 attys and going from there. One thing to be aware of with dripping though is that you want to have a sealed-off battery connector so that extra juice doesn't run into the battery and cause a short; a lot of the mods available on the market have sealed connections. I'm currently using a Vypr 510 and dripping when I'm at home. It's a 3.7v device and vapor productions is standard fair. I'm actually using a modified Blu atty with a drip tip for my dripping duties; I figured since I have them (Blu attys), I might as well use them.
  6. Just got the new aluminum shorty tip from SuperT and it performs about the same and the one from nhaler; spec wise, it's a hair shorter but the mouth of the unit is it much larger but tapers in to about 4mm. It's not as contoured, but still has a nice feel. Also, it's not as tight of fit, but I believe it's due to the O ring that's used. Overall, impressive and well made.
  7. One of the things that I noticed right off the bat was there was a noticeable difference in the temperature of the drip tip vs the stock carto body. As far as I can tell, there little to no heat transfer from the carto to the drip tip. I would imagine that it'd be the same with an atty as well. It seems like aluminum is the way to go with drip tips; very little heat transfer and a nice balance between durability and weight.
  8. I just got the new version of the drip tip from nhaler today; it's working out pretty well as a replacement of the mangled plastic caps on my 510 cartos. Aside from the fact that it's crazy easy to top off my cartos, I'm really digging the contoured shape! Spec wise, for those wondering, it adds about 15mm (just over a 1/2in) length when inserted and the mouth is about 4mm (3/16in) wide and provides more that enough clearance for the juice to flow down. I've got one of the new SuperT shortys coming fairly soon so, I'll follow up with a comparison when it arrives.
  9. I'm not too happy about the battery charge length, but I think it has more to do with the charger than the batteries...
  10. I just found out that nhaler has new short anodized drip tips for $10.00 a piece with free shipping and if you use the code SAVEinNJ it takes a dollar off the price: http://shop.nhaler.com/category.sc?categoryId=36 I needed to get a nice cap to put on the end of my cartos since some of the white end caps just get mangled.
  11. Juice: Tasty Vapor 24mg Atomic Cinnacide 100% PG Device: Vypr 510 (3.7v device, fresh battery) with 510 cartos from vaporkings.com Flavor: Initially, there's a nice cinnamon taste that graces your tongue but after about five seconds, the burn starts to set in and really caps off the experience. Flavor is reminiscent of Big Red chewing gum or Hot Tamales candy; huge selling point for me. Throat hit & Vapor production: Throat hit is not there at all, but I'm wondering if maybe the burning sensation is overriding it... For me, this is not a negative since I've heard that it's the best cinnamon flavor available. Being that it 100% PG, the vapor that it gives off is pretty light; again, not a big deal since I knew what I was getting in to with 100% PG. Other thoughts: From what I've heard, the juice from tasty vapor gets better with age so I may be coming back to update this if I notice a significant change. Highly recommended for cinnamon candy lovers.
  12. I'd say that it's comparable to any of the other 3.7v devices that takes a 14500... I've only been vaping for like three weeks and this is my third device. I'm averaging about seven to eight hours on a single charge vaping pretty much nonstop but I'm expecting that to go down as the batteries get worn in. There is a noticeable drop off in performance right before the battery dies and that's usually when I swap it out. It's not a very big device; not much thicker than the 14500 that it houses; it's got a solid build quality and everything fits and screws in properly and easily. The LED light is mostly understated but given that it actually has a light (as opposed to most other mods on the market) it's not a huge deal. Also, if you place the battery in the opposite orientation, it disables the LED completely to allow for stealth vaping. Button has a nice feel to it and it's not very likely that it'll go off in a pocket or a purse. Overall, I'm impressed with my Vypr 510 and I'll be sticking with it for a while.
  13. I'm with you on that one; I wanted to get a black tip but I'm not keen on the delrin tips at $8 a pop. I can deal with this though.
  14. This is my first 24mg ejuice and it has a crazy throat hit! The menthol flavor and the tobacco undertone is the closest I've tasted to a traditional menthol analog. Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the flavor and will be ordering more of this in the future.
  15. Are you noticing a really easy draw with your 510 cartos? I'm coming from KR808s with a 510 to 901 adapter and the draw on those was pretty stiff compared to what the straight 510s are offering.
  16. All I can really speak on is battery life since I haven't messed with any of the LR attys yet; batteries seem to last me 8 hours of moderate to heavy vaping and the charging time seems to be between 3 and 4 hours with the charger that I got from Vaprlife.
  17. As far as mods go, I'd have to say that yes, it is small, light and comfy. There's a pic attached to a post I made in the review thread; size wise, it's just under 5 inches with my 510 to 901 adapter + 808 cartos and it's not much thicker than a AA battery.
  18. Battery replacement cost is the main reason that I ended up going with a Vypr 510 over a TorneGo.
  19. If I ever decide to get a 5v kit, I'll probably get one made by these guys.
  20. Thanks for all the info with regards to care and maintenance, especially the tip about the switch!
  21. Love it! It was a toss up between this and the eGo/Tornado and I ended up going with this because I wanted to have the convenience of being able to buy normalish batteries. It's basically a Spade with a 14500 battery as opposed to a 10440. Been using it with my 510 to 901 adapter and KR808 cartos while I'm waiting on my 510 cartos; battery life is, as far as I can tell, comparable to other unit using 14500 batteries. I'm expecting to get about 10 hours of moderate to heavy vaping between battery swaps. No complaints about build quality; battery cap and atty/adaptor/cartos screw on without much effort and fit perfectly. I'm sure there's some points that I'm missing, so let me know if you guys have any questions.
  22. I'd like some clarification on this as well... I've heard that Janty comes up with the designs but Joyetech is their OEM out of China.
  23. I wasn't getting a lot of drags out of my Blu carts, but those had a tiny reservoir; maybe like 20 5 sec drags at the most. If you're opposed to direct dripping, I would suggest getting some cartomizers. They've worked out great for me and they hold about 1 mL of juice, which is normally just enough to get me through the day.
  24. Weird... I got mine from AltSmoke and they have the aforementioned wire running up the center. They can hold a ton of fluid, hit like a champ every time and I never got juiced unless I really pushed the capacity limit; we're talking like ~40+ drops to get juiced.
  25. Which version of the KR808 cartomizers, did they have the weird wire running up through the center of them? Those are the ones that I'm using and they're working out fine for me.
