  1. For a lot of Chinese companies, ethics is not high on the list of corporate traits they want to promote.
  2. Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your 510. Others have given you the links that I am most familiar with. If you're like a lot of us, you will probably find that tasting tobacco won't be all that important. As your taste buds recover from the analogs, you'll enjoy the improved ability to taste. Then getting your nicotine from something that tastes pleasant will be the biggest factor.
  3. It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and would chew a wad of bubble gum until there was no taste left. But if I took it out of my mouth for a while and then started chewing it again later, the flavor was back. I don't know about anyone else, but I think my taste buds become immune to the flavor after a while. That's one of the reasons I rotate through the different flavors. I try to keep three or four really different flavors on hand. It seems to be working pretty well.
  4. If I remember correctly, the guy was using unprotected batteries in the BB. There's a reason why it is recommended that you don't do that, and if this is a factual account it bears out the warnings.
  5. Kind of makes you want to stand next to the kiosk at the mall handing at cards for the VT Forum, doesn't it?
  6. I guess I should pay more attention when I post. Nothing like giving advice when you don't know what you're talking about.
  7. Funny, I never pay attention to how I insert the cart and have never had a problem with my 510. Now I'll be paranoid and will probably have all kinds of problems. Just for the record, I don't direct drip very often. I just add juice to the cart frequently, which seems to work well for me.
  8. After my own experience with disposables, I'm not sure that is the way to get anyone started. They only lasted for about a day, the flavor wasn't that great, and the vapor production was terrible. Maybe the better choice would be to have a little party, hook up a PT, hand out blank carts to everyone and sit around sampling some of the different juices. Kind of like a hookah party. That way, they can get a feel for what a "real" vaping experience is, try some different juices, and you get to keep the equipment in your control.
  9. Congrats on making the switch. I've now been off of analogs for a little over a month, and like you am glad I made the switch.
  10. If this is happening after you vape for a while, it's because moisture condenses in the cart. The atomizer will heat up, and if you are using it heavily, it will get too hot to touch. That's an indication that you're probably going at it a little to heavily. This heat is also the source of the moisture that condenses. One thing to try is to pull the cart from the atomizer and see if there is moisture on the outside of the cart in the ventilation grooves. If there is, wipe it off with a tissue or paper towel. Also, hold the tissue over the end of the cart and blow excess moisture out of it. This has helped me when I've started getting juice in my mouth. Another thing I've noticed is that after using a cart for several days I start getting this juice in my mouth more and more. That's usually when I'll change out the filler in the cart and almost always the problem disappears for a couple of days.
  11. Now for the lazy man's approach to maintenance: I don't! I don't bother with much of anything except changing the filler in the carts every 5-7 days. There are several threads with links to videos to show you how to do that, so I won't repeat them here. I'm not real picky, so I just switch liquids without a lot of fuss, and it doesn't bother me. Miaybe if my taste buds start working again that might change. ------> On another note, yesterday I went back to a tobacco flavor I had not used for a while, and I could actually taste the "tobacco" in the juice. It was a rather pleasant surprise and an indication that my taste buds actually are reactivating.
  12. I've never understood people who thrive on conflict. It seems like they just go looking for someone to get into a confrontation with. I've always gone out of my way to avoid conflict. My experience has always proved the old adage that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. It's kind of like this old guy who brings his dog to the off-leash park where I take my dog. He lets his dog run free in the parking lot despite numerous signs to keep them on the leash until inside the fenced area of the dog park. People have asked him to stop doing it because park administration has threatened to close the park to everyone if people continue to let there dogs run in the parking lot. This old fart doesn't get it, and puts everyone at risk. And he doesn't care. In fact, he told the last person who asked him not to do that to "go **** themselves" because he'll do whatever he likes. It's just an example of how selfish our society is in general.
  13. Thanks for clearing this up for me. I was under a mistaken impression about what was meant by "Gold Band" and thought it was just the area at the end of the atty. Now that I know that, I can say my original statement about E-Cig supply having the gold band atties was incorrect. However, they do assure that they have genuine Joye product.
  14. The picture's not very good, but this is one of the atties I got from E-cig Supply.
  15. Those at E-Cig Supply are the gold band as well.
  16. That would be E-Cig Supply, selling them for $7.29 each if you buy 5 or more.
  17. The phrase "early Alzheimers" comes to mind reading these posts. I guess smoking for me was more of an intentional act, even after smoking for most of 40 years. Having to go outside in order to light up, even at home, I was totally aware of the whole process. Having said that, my wife was always yelling at me because every lighter in the house ended up in my pocket.
  18. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this or not, but I tend to get a stronger taste first thing in the morning. After vaping all day, I don't get as strong a flavor. I've also noticed that if I switch flavors a couple of times during the day I get more taste right after I first switch.

    Ego?

Which is pretty much what was offered. Even if a difference is perception only, it's still a difference. Anyone who can supply objective information is always a plus in these forums. But any opinion is valuable if offered honestly and in the interest of being helpful.
  20. I was the same way. After my first "real" kit arrived (I started with a disposable kit) I think I had one analog. For me, part of it was the fact that I was having bouts of smoking-induced asthma, persistent cough, and other symptoms. That, and I had gotten to the point where I didn't really enjoy the taste any longer. That's probably why I've pretty much moved away from the tobacco flavored juices. It's nice to have a pleasant taste in my mouth instead of that burnt tobacco taste. I especially like waking up in the morning and not having a taste in my mouth like a thousand skunks had marched through.

    Ego?

I'm not an engineer, nor an expert on batteries and atomizers, but here is my theory: The e-cig is essentially three parts: battery, atomizer and cartridge. While different makes may use the same atomizer, that is 1/3 of the story. The cartridge is not going to be much of a factor, other than the wicking quality of the fill. If the user direct drips, it's not going to matter at all. That leaves the battery. At the same voltage, there will still be performance differences. Not all batteries of the same voltage maintain a consistent flow of power throughout the duration of the charge. For instance, I noticed immediately that the 510 mega battery seems to perform consistently from start to end of the charge. While the regular battery seems to fall off quite a bit as the charge falls, in terms of vapor production. My observations on the 510 are purely anecdotal, and may be my own perception. But from other applications, such as flashlights, I know there is a huge difference in performance from brand to brand, even when the same basic characteristics of the battery remains the same.
  22. I got a couple of the mega batteries when I ordered my 510. They last about 4-4 1/2 hours, while the regular batteries last about 2 hours for me. The mega is about a cart length longer than regular, which makes sense since they last longer. I rely on the mega when I'm out and about. I also agree with the recommendation to have spare parts around. I keep at least one spare battery and 3-5 extra atomizers. The carts are pretty much indestructible, and I restuff them after 4 or 5 days of use. I find that the taste starts to deteriorate if I go longer than that. I just got a DSE905, which I like a lot, but it's not real handy to carry when I'm out and about. I may get a little pouch to wear on my belt or something, but even the 510 mega just slips in my shirt pocket for when I'm out running errands and stuff.
  23. It's great! And some of my search results actually come back with no porn in them!
  24. I don't change out atties, but I probably only have about 20% of my taste buds left after smoking so many years. That and eating too many jalapeno peppers. So far it's not been a problem, and I am paranoid about using up too many atties. In fact, I've been sitting here this morning wrestling with whether or not I need to place another order for five spares.
  25. Welcome to the forum, and glad that you're enjoying your new 510. Unlike a lot of us, you are starting with the best option there is. At least that's my opinion. I started with a disposable that was enough to convince me I wanted to explore this further. I then ordered an RN4075 that was OK, but the automatic battery option produced inconsistent vapor, and frankly just wasn't very good. I then ordered the 510 and haven't looked back. I just got a DSE905 with the 510 adaptor for longer battery life, and so far I'm thrilled with it. The regular 510s will be my "carry around" choice just because they go in my pocket easier. I have a couple of the mega batteries for the 510 which gives me several hours. This is a great place to ask questions and keep up with the world of e-cigs. Glad you're here.
