  1. Agreed Jeff.
  2. I'd be much obliged man. As far as testing for nic content goes, there is a way to do it that doesn't require a complete lab, but it is pretty involved, at least it would be for me. When I get a chance I'll try to find the thread where I saw this but I think it was in the ECF DIY Liquid forum.
  3. Yeah, the snus thing is great for tobacco flavor, but doesn't get much nic at all. No need to inquire how I know. I'm wondering if one of those machines they use to derive essential oil from flowers and stuff would get nic out of tobacco. It would be a fairly expensive experiment, one I wouldn't try until I was about to run out of my inventory of actual nicotine.
  4. I hear you. But the laws have been tweaked (good ole Bush) to ensure that non-payers have nowhere to hide, so there's even less risk for credit companies now than there ever was. I work for a credit company - an honest one fortunately - so I do understand how these guys think. My company doesn't value late fee income and doesn't try to harm people who fail, but we do do everything possible to collect what's owed. Writeoffs are a pretty small part of our costs. A company who wished to, could really milk the discrepancy between high fee income and low writeoffs. It's a profit center for many of the big banks; they have whole departments whose job it is to figure out how to maximize late payment fees. I hate em. Corruption is rife in our economy. Well, that's really not corrupt, it's just -- soulless.
  5. Amen, brother. I'm trying to find how to derive nicotine from tobacco. It's not a simple task, unfortunately. At least, not the way it's done for us today. Probably there will be a 'good enough' method at some point though. I'm always open to suggestions and sources of information.
  6. Indeed. That's the plan, no? But wouldn't they want us paying taxes for a good long life? These people are so short sighted. Oh, wait -- I'm getting close to the end of my useful tax-paying life anyway. Now I get it.
  7. Ah; follow the money man. People who pay late generate a lot of juicy fee income.
  8. This is the stuff to believe, for true; govt's all about money. Always, when something govt is doing doesn't make sense, just follow the money and it will spring into clarity. Whether big tobacco will step in with a vaping alternative is an open question but I would be surprised if they didn't; there's too much money to be made. My concern with that is that they're going to limit nic strength to some ridiculous low level that will force me back to smoking anyway. The only good I can see coming out of US manufacture of vaping supplies would be good attys.
  9. One thing that keeps popping into my mind during all this is that if, in the end, the FDA in collusion with big tobacco and big pharma manage to kill the industry -- and make no mistake, that's the intent -- then I can always go back to analogs and just die an ugly, lingering death.
  10. Totally. 100% in agreement on that one. I'm not kidding either. That's one reason I haven't ordered any yet, the sense of risk involved. It's a huge responsibility. Still considering it though, and especially given the FDA antics lately. Maybe one shipment would get through if I try a couple of suppliers.
  11. 500 ml is what, about a pint? There are some places in China you can buy pure nic liquid and I've been thinking about doing that. The issue of course is that you buy so much it might take a personal user too long to use it up. Even so, I'm sure thinking about giving that a shot. A deeply serious caveat though: I'm not too concerned about using 100mg liquid, but the pure stuff is a whole other kettle of fish. For sure you'd have to adopt extremely careful methods for handling it. Just a drop of that stuff on your skin could be the end of everything, and that's no joke. A spill could be life threatening for the whole household. That is nothing to take lightly.
  12. Well that's freaky. What in the world are these people thinking?! You'd thing the govt would want to keep tax payers alive if nothing else. Well, we've seen it coming for a long time, I guess it's time to get real. Thanks for the heads up mcquinn.
  13. I'm a little slow, just caught this. Maybe some people really like the nice round drip tips? They're sure better than those harsh square ends. That would make them easy to fill too. Hm. Might have to try that. That's the FTJoe I know though, always checking the details against the real world.
  14. That's sure the truth! Yay Brian!
  15. That might be really good at 6V; the regular cartos are a bit hot there. I'm sure tempted too! Cripes Brian, you come up with far too many ways for me to spend my money.
  16. Yeah, I like FA too kitsune and sure wish Liberty Flights would get tobacco flavors in again. There's another US supplier, but danged if I can remember it now. This almost makes it seem like it'd be worthwhile to buy from Italy; at least you'd have quantities of the flavors (or, flavours ) you like. Some PA flavors, naturally, are stronger than others, but they all are very clean-tasting, powerful without being so in-your-face as some, like Lorann's, are. (Yeah, I do use some Lorann flavors too.)
  17. Thanks for the update GDub. Sadness. But we'll live; 100mg is all I've used anyway, and that is a good price. Snubber and Fritchard, you guys are right! Mixing is messy and though I've gotten 100mg on my hands with no ill effects, it freaked me out and I washed it off immediately, and put on latex gloves. I think that's the way to go, there's really no way I can not to get stuff on me when I'm messing with this stuff. Better to be safe. We have to remember that nicotine is very toxic in concentration.
  18. Hi amcnutt. I don't have much to teach, and I can tell you that I've been trying replicate 555 for a long time -- it's still my favorite flavor -- and have not been very successful. In the DIY Liquid forum there's a recipe I found and have tried that's completely vapable, but doesn't really taste like 555 to me. Trust me though, I'll get it nailed down eventually. Meanwhile, there's plenty of good stuff to try out. I'll see what I can come up with in terms of what flavors I like from which vendors for starters. Here's the e-liquid list from Perfumer's Apprentice -- good flavors for the most part, some not quite strong enough for my lack of tastebuds but that's probably a personal issue. More later. PA DIY Flavors I can say their Peanut Butter rocks.
  19. A very belated Welcome to VT! As you can see, this is a great place. The only thing I might add to what's gone before, is to consider liquid with a VG component. Vegetable Glycerin creates a lot more vapor and is easier on the throat hit. One thing to keep in mind is that is also can tend to reduce the flavor -- but just a bit, and not really that noticeable. I've taken to using a lot more VG in my juice, and I like it quite a lot. Since I haven't read your earlier posts, can you repeat for me what device you're using? Just curious. If you're using voltage higher than 3.7V, I would strongly recommend more VG, perhaps 50% or greater. Just my experience, not sure it would apply to others. And because you're thinking of vaping 0 nic, making your own liquid would be a very simple and economical approach. Check out the DIY Liquid forum for lots of great info. I'd be happy to share what little experience I have in that area too if you have any questions. I'm pretty much making all of my own liquid now and am quite satisfied after having done a lot of experimenting. Good luck, have fun and Vape On!
  20. Whaddaya mean "next thing"? FTJoe, that's a good price, best I've seen in a long time. But have you ever eaten any of that stuff?! Ugh. I guess it would be better than starving, but anyone would sure lose weight on a diet of that kind of ... foodstuff. Hey! There's an idea... Maybe I could drop 50 lbs and save some money at the same time! Naw. I'd hold off for the asteroid strike.
  21. We're very similar in that regard man. I'm a cheap bastid and when taxes went up two bucks per pack in two years here, my wife flat quit and I started seriously looking for alternatives (like trying to quit myself). This is just the right amt to get me to my inventory goal, and a great price. I hadn't noticed whether it's available as VG, but if it is, like Fritchard suggested, I'm gonna be in hog heaven. It probably would make sense to re-bottle in smaller containers so that the whole batch isn't exposed to air every time it's opened. VG is great at high voltage, just the ticket, for what it's worth to anyone else. MFS has also recently had some great prices on base; I wonder if there's some Chinese competition going on, or they know they're about to get stuck with huge quantities of the stuff so they're unloading it? Maybe they know something we don't, like the whole world is about to outlaw vaping. (I'm not really that paranoid. )
  22. Yeah, two years is what I've heard too. Obviously I don't know but my expectation is that its strength will begin to wane; possibly before two years, too. I just have no way of knowing, but this is one reason I spaced my purchases out in "smaller" quantities so far. My goal is to set aside two years worth of supplies; once I have that then I'll just start just replacing the stuff I use up. I write a date on everything I purchase for ban-survival, and do the old FIFO inventory rotation. A two-year supply of liquid for me is about 1500 ml. This means I need about 700 ml of 100mg base. Right now I have only about 200 ml, so I have further to go to get my two-year, ban-surviving inventory than I thought.
  23. That looks ideal Brian. I'll try to keep an eye out but please let me know when you get yours and I'll snag a couple too.
  24. I've seen this site before and been very tempted. From his description I think it would be worth a try; that should be enough to get you through a temporary ban at least. I almost have enough stock for that; this would put me over the top. Seriously considering it myself. If you get it before me, please let us know what you think. Thanks for the reminder.
  25. How about Goo Gone? I use that stuff for everything. Sticky crap comes right off. I haven't yet but one of these days I'm just gonna buy a gallon of it and be done for a while.
