Can you give me an idea what an average labor cost would be to swap one out? Mine is a downflow unit, ranch style home with a crawlspace. Furnace is in a utility room and has central air with the coil mounted below the furnace. I'm replaceing a 30+ yr old unit with an 80% 100,000 btu unit and the contractor quoted 6-800 labor.

Usually whatever the material costs they just double for labor, so that would be in line. That should be on the easy side as there would not be much sheet metal work. But the venting could be a hassle if you are replacing an older furnace with a 90% one with PVC venting. Seems like they left room to cut you some slack if it goes smooth. There are a lot people who put them in for a lot less but when things go wrong you can never get ahold of them to make it right. Make sure they are licensed, insured and getting a permit if required in your area.
