Intro and a few questions.

Good evening Vapers,

First off, sorry for the long post.

I've been a pack and a half a day smoker for the last 13 years. While in the military, it was affecting my physical abilities, so I needed to try to make a change. Problem is, not only was/am I addicted to cigarettes, but I enjoy(ed) it to.

In about the later part of 2010, I was walking through the mall near where I was stationed and passed an e-cig kiosk that was doing demos. I tried it with a few different flavors, and decided that I would give it a try. The price was a bit higher than I was looking to spend, so I went a few shops down to the tobacco shop to see what they had. They had the Encore Express (don't know if it was the Express then or not, but that's what it is now) for about half the price of what the kiosk was charging. So I picked up a 1 battery kit and some extra cartomizers for it. I really only vaped it when I was indoors in places I couldn't smoke because shortly after buying it, I realized it's biggest downfalls for me. That downfall was its battery life and its cutoff after about 5-10 minutes of vaping. I wasn't getting as much out of the Encore as I'd hoped, and it took almost constant puffing on it to keep me from wanting an analog. The cutoff was getting annoying, and even after getting past the cutoff, I would need a new battery in an hour or 2. Within a couple of months, still on the analogs mostly, my sister's dog got a hold of the battery, then my wife wound up washing it. With the battery being trashed and my dissatisfaction with it, I decided to just not get a new battery and stick with the analogs.

Fast forward 2 more years to 2012. I was out of the service, but living in a house where I could not smoke indoors. Again, walking in the local mall, I ran across a mall kiosk that was selling the Smoke Smart e-cigs. They were the 3-piece cigarette look alikes. I tried them and picked up a 2 battery "Premium Luxury" starter kit, some extra cartridges, a car charger, and some extra juice. I figured this time that I'd get what I'd paid for with the higher cost of entry (ballpark of $200 for everything). It still suffered from the short battery life and my desire to constantly puff on it. I will say, though, that I liked this one better than the Encore because I could add juice to the cartridge without a bunch of fuss, and all the parts were replaceable. It still wasn't performing how I was expecting it to, so I was still on the analogs.

Now we fast forward again, this time to December 20, 2013. I went to the local tobacco shop to get my analogs for the next 2 weeks. While in there, I saw that they had started selling a lot more e-cig products than before. Seeing that, I remembered that just a week or so before, I had attempted to pull out my Smoke Smart, but the atty was fried. I asked about atties for them, but couldn't remember the brand and didn't have it with me, preventing me from making an accurate atty selection for it. However, I had recently tried my sister's eGo style PV that she picked up from a local vapor shop, and I liked it, but at the time, wasn't really interested in switching to, or getting a PV. I decided that I'd try a few flavors and browse and learn about the tobacco shop's selection of eGo style PVs. I settled on a blue eGo Firefly 900 kit with 2 batts, 2 disposable cartos, a charger, and a case. I also picked up a bottle each of Halo’s Captain Jack and Voodoo. I’ve only had 2.5 packs of analogs in the 2 weeks since, and I’m wrapping up day 1 without an analog.

I will say that within a couple of days, the Captain Jack started tasking horrible, and the Voodoo, while still OK, had lost its allure. So right before Christmas, I went to the local vapor shop where my sister got her eGo and picked up a KangerTech T3S (more on that later) and a bottle of their juice.

After watching some reviews on the T3S, and running out of Jolly Rancher juice, I went back to the shop to get 2 KangerTech Mini Protank V2s, more Jolly Rancher juice, an Almond Amaretto juice, and a White Chocolate juice.

OK, this is getting long, so I’ll start to wrap up my story. I know own the T3S, the 2 Mini Protanks, 2 Kanger E-VODs, an Aspire Viva Nova-S, an Aspire ET-S, and an AGA-TD for my tanks, 2 eGo Firefly batts, and a Vamo V3 Mod. My favorite tank on the eGo so far is the Aspire ET-S with a 2.1 ohm coil.

Yep, that’s right, within 2 weeks I’m already into VV/VW. This is where my questions come from.

I’ve been vaping the Vamo/AGA combo for a bit over 24 hours now, and have already filled the AGA 6-8 times and charged the Vamo’s batts (2 of the ICR18350s) 3 times using the Nitecore Intellicharger i2. Also, the silica wick in the AGA is already starting to get a burnt taste (while writing this post). At this point, it’s not bad, and only occasional. I vape it at 6v, with a resistance of 2.8 ohms using a steel mesh/silica wick. I have opened up the large air holes on the AGA a bit to allow for more airflow. In the AGA, I’m vaping roughly a 60/40 VG to PG at 24mg nic. I’m looking for thick vapor, solid-strong flavor, and a mid to moderate throat hit. I am almost constantly vaping.

When I vape the ET-S or the Viva Nova-S on the Vamo (both 2.1 ohm coils), I have to keep it around 3.5w to 4w or I start to get a burnt taste.

  1. What would be your recommendations on batteries for longer battery life?
  2. What would be a good build in the AGA to provide what I’m looking for in the vape and prolonged wick life?
  3. Is the low power all I’m going to get out of the Aspire tanks on the Vamo, or is there a different resistance coil I can use to push a bit more power through it?

Thank you,

Shannon
