18650 Battery Question

Recommended Posts

So i'm new to big battery mods, i'm looking to pick up a device for increased vape time from my ego-c twist. I've done some research on batteries and it seems like most ultrafire and trustfire are a lower quality battery and their true mah rating doesn't come close to what they're labeled as (3000-4000mah).

Most have suggested AW or Panasonic as the higher quality battery, so i've narrowed it down to a few but have some questions on them.

This one doesn't look like a high drain IMR, does that eliminate it?

These 2 look like the same battery but the one has a raised positive end. I'm guessing that's the one i'd want. Anyways these ones are high drain IMR but i don't see anything about protection. Are they unprotected? The mods i'm looking at don't have much built-in protection so i'd definitely want the batteries to be protected right?

Thanks in advance!

Whether to use button top or flat top depends on the mod you're putting it in.

Most use button top but the ones that don't usually specify.

If you're going to vape at ~3.7V then high drain isn't really necessary unless

you plan to use extreme low res, like ~1.25.

Most chinese batts have exaggerated mah ratings and IMO you should always

use battaries that specify they are protected unless you are using the safer

chemistry batts like the AW,IMR's or LIPO.

just my .02 lol

Are those protected? I can't tell on the 2nd one i linked to either

I've got some of those CGR18650s and they're pretty sweet. I have the flat top and have used them in my LT. I have some with the nipple tops on the way to use in my Provari. At first, you don't think they last long, but after getting several charges on them, they were lasting me all day running 4.2V with a 1.6ohm EMDCC. I vape about 4-6ml p/day.
