Boy, I'm coming late to this... last post was, in 2009... but I'll jump in with my two cents. I was a pack a day analog smoker until I ran across mention of the Ploom in a New Yorker article, looked them up online, and bought it.
It's not marketed as a smoking cessation device, but it worked for me. I have not smoked one single analog since February '11. It was a cool looking little device, and the flavors were tasty, but it broke very quickly... it just refused to light after a while. So I returned it and bought another one... which also broke. As did my third. Finally, I just figured, the heck with it and started chewing Nicorette.
I guess that's what I get for buying a product that has the word "BETA" stamped across it. The fact that three of them broke infuriates me, particularly when I paid close to forty bucks for the thing, and six for each back of 12 pods... but I really don't begrudge them the money, I guess, considering that it got me off analogs. But now I'm using the Smox e-cigarette. Hasn't broken yet...
