  1. I agree -- PV's are a fantastic invention for those of us who have tried numerous times to quit smoking in the past, but find ourselves unable to kick the nicotine addiction, and/or those of us who enjoy smoking and all of the social implications of smoking. (How many great conversations have you found yourself a part of outside at a party, with all of the smokers standing around chatting while puffing away?) I've only been vaping for 10 days now, but have taken the opportunity to explain what PV's are to anyone that shows interest. Fortunately, I've only encountered a negative attitude with that one old grouch in Starbucks -- the rest of the people that have interacted with me about it have been interested either for themselves or someone they're close to. The more people I can tell about these things, the better.
  2. These are the kind of cartomizers I've been trying to fill -- Joye eGo cartomizers. The condom methods for these is extremely tedious... You can make 2-3 drops go in with each attempt, and sometimes when pulling the condom back off, it pulls the juice right back out and makes a mess.
  3. Since my introduction to vaping almost 2 weeks ago, I've been waiting to be able to fill my Joye eGo cartomizers... Thankfully, I have a drip tip and some Boge soft-tip cartos that I can use in the meantime, but I'm still stuck with 10 cartos I can't fill. I ordered the syringe that vaporrenu.com is selling, not realizing that the needle is FRIGGIN HUGE until after I got it, and is useless for filling these cartos. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my hands on a syringe so I can fill these cartos?
  4. 10ml for $10? That's not a good deal at all, compared to vaporrenew.com -- you can get a 30ml bottle for less than the price of a 10ml bottle from those guys. Granted, I'm new to the game and haven't done much exploring in regards to quality of liquid. I have no qualms whatsoever with any of the liquids I got from VR, though.
  5. I've tried a standard resistance 510, a LR 510, a dewicked LR 510, and a dewicked/debridged standard 510... None of them seem to give me what I'm wanting. As far as the liquids go, all 3 of my liquids came from VR, and are 80/20 blends, 24mg nicotine. I'm not sure what voltage I'm running, I just know I have the eGo mega-battery. The Boge cartos are what I've been enjoying, actually... They will definitely be my default.
  6. I've tried everything I can find on here about DDing... Blow out the atty, let it soak in alcohol and/or coca-cola, de-wicking the atty and even removing the bridge. However, I just generally find it to be more trouble than it's worth.
  7. Okay, so I'm a new vaper and have been trying a few different ways of vaping. So far, cartos are by far my favorite way to vape. I've tried dripping several times, and I want to like it, but so far it's just as much of a mess and hassle as using cartridges. I've tried using regular attys, LR attys, and have de-wicked the attys and even removed the bridge on one. I put 3 drops on juice onto the atty, and find the flavor to be less satisfying than using a carto. The only positive I've found is the amount of vapor produced by dripping. The real problem I have is this -- even after de-wicking a new atty, using 3 drops of liquid seems to burn up in a drag or two, and the drags don't even taste all that great. The only way I've found to get good flavor is to use more than 3 drops, but that inevitably ends up turning into juice running through the atty and getting all over the battery and making a big mess in general. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions?
  8. I just got an order from VR, and I'm very happy with all 3. Ecto-Cooler (orange/tangerine) -- by far, my favorite of the 3. It's a 80/20 PG/VG blend, with a double shot of flavor and a medium throat hit. Tastes just like the old Hi-C flavor I remember from my youth! Clove -- 80/20 blend, double shot of flavor, aggressive throat hit. A great substitute for my clove cigarette indulgence. I even get a little bit of the tongue-numbing I'd experience with clove cigs. Cotton Candy -- 80/20, double flavor, medium throat hit. Nice flavor, albeit not very strong. Maybe my taste buds will snap back to life after I've been away from the analogs for a while, and it will taste better to me. My wife likes it a lot.
  9. I think all of that will come down to what vaping is ultimately defined as by the federal government once all of the smoke clears (maybe not the best choice of words here but oh well) from all of the court battles/appeals... People who get nicotine inhalers from the doctor don't have to go outside to use it -- the way I see it, the only difference between their nicotine inhaler and my vapor cloud is that my cloud is visible. I'm certain that nicotine is exhaled from a person using a nicotine inhaler... However, it wouldn't surprise me to see vaping banned indoors. After all, this is the same country where alcohol (which kills more people globally than AIDS or violence) is legal, yet smoking a joint gets you in trouble with the law. I do fear the power/influence of BigPharm and Big Tobacco more than anything, in regards to vaping.
  10. I disagree with your premise that it will be viewed "just like smoking" -- it's not just like smoking, it's nowhere close. The only 2 similarities are that nicotine is involved, and that the vapor cloud looks similar to smoke. Considering the guy went up and complained to the barista, and the barista did nothing, I view that as an implicit endorsement to vape freely. I guess for the future, I can discuss with the manager what my eGo is and establish exactly what I'm doing -- that way, I don't have to worry about having to defend myself.
  11. Yeah, that's a big thing for me, too... I don't appreciate being told what I can or cannot do, especially by someone that isn't in a position of authority to do so. It's even worse when someone is complaining behind a false premise. On one hand, it's a teaching opportunity -- I feel like as a vaper, I should be spreading the word about such a wonderful thing, and maybe I can convert other smokers to a healthier alternative. On the other hand, I don't want to come across as "that guy" who seems as if he's just trying to be intentionally confrontational, and giving vapers a bad name, either. So, I'm torn as to what approach to take. Hell, one of the reasons I switched to vaping is the fact that you can vape in many places that you can't smoke. It's not my intention to give up on one of the reasons I switched, just to keep from ruffling the feathers of the uneducated that want to cause problems.
  12. Thing is, I don't view just quietly sitting in a corner and vaping as "making a scene" -- it was the old grouchy a-hole that made the scene. Nothing I was doing was interfering with anyone's quiet enjoyment of the Starbucks. Apparently the Starbucks people didn't have a problem with me doing it, because I showed them my eGo and they didn't say, "I'm sorry, but you can't use that in here"... It was more like a, "Screw this, I don't want to get involved with this disagreement." On one hand, I see shamelessly vaping as exercising my rights -- I'm not harming a single soul by vaping, and they just need to educate themselves and deal. On the other hand, it'd be simpler if I just relegated myself to where smokers go to smoke, but I view that as laying down and rolling over to the uneducated grouches that want to try and make mountains out of molehills, so I'm torn as to what approach to take.
  13. Well, I was wondering how long it was going to be before some ignorant jackass told me "YOU CAN'T SMOKE IN HERE!", and it didn't take long -- I was sitting in Starbucks this morning enjoying a cup of coffee and my new eGo. So there's some grouchy old man sitting at the next table, and he sees me puffing on my eGo and decides to make a spectacle -- "EXCUSE ME, BUT THERE'S NO SMOKING IN HERE! PUT IT OUT!" Of course, I don't take very kindly to people approaching me in such a rude fashion, not to mention the fact that I wasn't smoking anything. So, I tell him, "You're mistaken, this is not a cigarette, it's a personal vaporizer -- this is not smoke, it's vapor." "Well I don't give a rat's ***, I can smell it and you'd better stop it!" (You know, because vapor and smoke smell exactly the same. ) I wasn't going to argue with the guy, it was obvious he cares nothing about facts; so I continued vaping and enjoying my coffee, so he goes up to one of the baristas and decides to make a big spectacle of things, telling the barista that, "This guy is over here smoking and you need to tell him to stop." Upon hearing it, I immediately went up to the counter to show the barista that it indeed was not a cigarette, and was only vapor. The barista obviously wanted no parts of getting in the middle of this, and ignored the man's requests, and walked off to clean up behind the counter. The old man, apparently annoyed by the barista not scolding me, got all huffy and decided to leave, which is fine by me... It's not my intent to go around trying to piss people off with this thing, but I'm also not going to tuck my tail, run, and cower to some ignorant fool who clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, nor has any inclination to educate himself. So, my point for starting this thread -- how do the rest of you deal with these ignorant folks who inevitably will try to rain on your parade?
  14. Yeah, I can totally see where accumulating "toys" can be fun. So far, the cartridge is my least favorite way to vape. The cartomizer is pretty awesome too, but direct dripping has the best flavor and vapor. I have another shipment headed my way, with a few spare attys, a couple of LR attys, another mega battery (having 2 mega batteries, a regular battery, and a passthrough should pretty much get me through any situation), and a drip tip. I can see myself wanting to go the tank route before long. I'm ready to get my other flavors from VR... I really like the menthol I have now -- it tastes like a breath mint! I'm kinda surprised at how much it's making me cough, though. Not that I mind (I smoke other things that tend to make ya cough a bit ) but it's definitely different.
  15. UPDATE: My eGo came in the mail today! It's all charged up and working beautifully. Definitely a huge difference between this and that xhale02 e-cig I picked up from 7-11... I've smoked my last analog, and tomorrow begins my first full smoke-free day! I'm stoked... Now, I just have to make sure I don't sit here and do nothing but vape tonight, since I got the better battery upgrade and the passthrough!
  16. In regards to dripping -- how many drops of juice is roughly equivalent to smoking an analog? I saw you put 3 drops on the atty, do you just drip, vape, and repeat until your craving subsides?
  17. Well, I'm anxiously awaiting my eGo in the mail (should be here maybe tomorrow, but more than likely Saturday)... Can't wait to smoke my last analog! So what sorts of things do I need to make sure I do or don't do when I get it? What sorts of things do noobs often do that unnecessarily break otherwise good equipment/components? Are there any good rules of thumb for cleaning/maintenance that one should generally follow? I initially ordered a spare atty, 10 cartomizers, 30mls of juice, and an extra battery (giving me 3 altogether). I plan on ordering a bit more juice and some attys next week, but I figure the 3 attys and all the cartos I have now will hold me for a bit. Basically, any general advice you'd want to give me to keep me from screwing something up here would be fantastic! Thanks in advance.
  18. Hello all, I just signed up here after having lurked for a few days, reading threads and whatnot. The other night, I decided to pick up that $20 cheap e-cig from 7-11 (forget the name)... Now, 2 days later, it's not even working anymore. I'm not sure exactly what is wrong, and troubleshooting it wasn't the purpose of me starting this thread (if anyone can figure out what's wrong with it, be my guest -- now the LED light at the end, that resembles the lit analog, only burns at one brightness, and then goes out after a couple of seconds, even if you're still drawing). However, it worked long enough to show me that I know I could feel comfortable quitting smoking with an e-cig. Anyways -- after reading through things, I think I'm going to go with a Joye eGo. Now, the question is, what accessories/spares would you recommend right off the bat? I already know I want the mega battery, and the USB passthrough. The starter kit I'm getting has 2 attys, 2 batteries, 2 atty cones, 2 push button covers, 1 wall/usb charger, and 5 black tip prefilled cartridges -- aside from a couple spare attys and juice, what else would you recommend initially? How does refilling the cartridges work? Do I need any special equipment to do that, or is it just as simple as refilling it with juice? Do I need to get one of these stainless steel syringes I saw over on vaporrenu.com? I am trying to be reasonably cost-conscious initially, but at the same time, I don't want to skimp and end up not getting some stuff that I really wish I'd gotten on the initial purchase. My biggest fear about all of this is something breaking and then I end up stuck with no way to vape and having to turn back to analogs. Also, when browsing spare parts, I noticed "Type A Mega-Atomizer" and "Type B Mega-Atomizer"... What's the difference between Type A & B? In regards to juice -- I've been a smoker for about 13 yrs, and am most recently a Marlboro Smooth smoker (I friggin love that flavor of menthol), usually about a 2/3rd pack smoker per day. About how much juice should I expect to go through, and what strength juice would you recommend? Also, if any of you are menthol fans, any specific recommendations on a nice robust minty juice would be appreciated. Any advice/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
