  1. On most mods in TC mode, the wattage sets a ceiling for how much power the coil can pull from the device.  If the wattage is set to low you may never get to the desired or "dialed in" temperature.  If the wattage is set too high you run the risk of the mod applying TC so rapidly and abruptly that you feel the mod kicking in and out of TC during a vape.  I usually vape for awhile using power mode to find the power that gives me a decent vape.  I then set the device to TC and set the wattage for the same wattage I used in power mode.  I will then start low on temperature, say 400F  and keep turning it up until I get the temperature that feels right.
I know nothing about the Halo Reactor.  I do know mods vary greatly in how the handle TC.  I've got a Wismac Predator that will not stabilize in TC. An Alien that is pretty nice.  Then there's the Yihi SX mini that is smooth as a baby's behind in TC.  Some mods react quicker than others with TC as well.  Sounds like the Halo may be a bit slow allowing the temperature to get a little too hot before the TC kicks in, or you just may need to lower the temperature setting to keep the heat down.
I hope this made some sense.  Both settings work together.

When I got it it was set a high wattage (I don't remember exactly) and I set the temp to 400 and it got hot really fast, too hot for my liking and in only about 2 seconds, it was like a half of a hit I didn't like it. I tried hitting it at a high wattage and 400-450 temp but it was just way too much for me. I like the lower temp so I can draw longer and not set my mouth on fire lol. That might change the longer I vape tho. Thanks for the response, it made perfect sense [emoji854]

  2. I just bought a Halo Reactor Mega and use it on TC. It allows you to adjust the wattage while on TC, and I have it at 30 watts and at 280 degrees. I had it set over 400 degrees but I watched the temperature as I hit it and it never went above 260 so I put the temp down to 280. I was under the impression that while on TC mode devices would adjust the wattage accordingly? This one runs on whatever wattage you set it at almost immediately once the fire button is hit then the temp begins to go up. Meaning I hit fire, it goes up to 30w then the temp begins to rise. I noticed it gets hot very fast at higher watts and don't like the heat it produces so I leave it at 30. The coil is .25 and is recommended between 20-60 watts. I'm just wondering about controlling both wattage and temp at the same time. I wasn't aware you could do that [emoji854].

  3. Got my Halo yesterday, LOVE IT!!! Been vaping in TC and have had no probs!! Actually, my 3mg nic flavor I had that gave me a headache in my smok setup doesn't give me a headache in my Halo [emoji3] I think using TC has everything to do with it tho, lol. Don't think I'll ever vape in wattage mode again [emoji3]

  4. It's likely saying the tank is made of SS.  The premade coils, are definitely not.   And yep, no problem.  Not everyone is fond of TC vaping.  For me however, it changed my entire experience for the better.  I dont plan to vape on watt mode ever again, unless I'm testing my homebrew e-liquid.  I use my old setups for that. [emoji4]

I'm planing on using TC mode with my Reactor Mega, so I'm glad you pointed that out to me [emoji3]

  5. Nope, all of their pre-made TFV8 Baby tank coils are made with Kanthal.  Kanthal doesnt work in TC mode. Though I've read there may be some break throughs on the horizon for that.

Huh, I coulda swore when I had the Alien they said SS on the side and Stainless Steel on the box. Thanks for the info [emoji3]

  6. I'd probably love the smok V8 baby tanks, but that stupid rubber ring around the fill hole is constantly soaking up juice (even when Im careful), and it expands and get too big to fit within a few weeks.  The other issue I had was how hot they got.  Not my cup of tea, oh and no prebuilt TC coils was another issue for me.  I have absolutely no desire to build my own coils.  Otherwise, they deliver on taste and cloud production no doubt.  And yeah, they'l work on pretty much any sub ohm setup.

You can't use their coils in temp control?

  7. The coils that come with the tank are the same resistance as the Smok coils... so there shouldn't be a problem of too low ohms I'm assuming?? Is that what you mean by too low of an ohm build?

  9. Hey everyone. I have a question about tanks.. I'm getting a Halo Reactor Mega and I already have a Smok TFV8 Big Baby Beast tank. Will that tank work with the Halo Reactor Mega? I see videos of people using the Smok tanks on non-Smok devices and just wondering (aside from the same size threading) how to determine if a tank is compatible with a diff brand vape...

    Thanks!!

  10. If you take reasonable care, you shouldn't have a problem. The majority of the news stories you see about batteries exploding? When you dig deeper, it often times turns out that it's user error -- like your boss putting her batteries in the wrong direction, carrying around a battery without a protective case in a pocket full of change and car keys, not turning a mod off and sticking it into a pocket where the battery could be triggered into the 'on' position, etc.
My personal preference is for the mods with built in batteries simply because of convenience although I have many mods that use external batteries. For me, the convenience of having 5000 mAh (Eleaf iPower 80W TC), and not having to charge it but once a week is so much better than having to carry around extra batteries (in a case). Everyone's different and have their own preferences. I like the KISS method (Keep It Simple, Stupid).

What kind of wall adapter do you use? Mine just came with a power cord and I'm nervous about charging it. The wall adapter I used got hot when it was charging, but my vape wasn't warm or anything at all.

  11. Thanks everyone!!! Just worried about battery damage as it's the new hype lol. My bosses vape caught fire a few weeks ago, apparently her batteries were backwards and it made a popping noise and caught fire [emoji15][emoji15] I just started vaping a week before that happened to her so I'm always worried. It changes thing when something like that happens to someone you know. Don't want it to happen to me lol [emoji53]

  12. Hello everyone [emoji3]

I'm fairly new at this, and was wondering about the battery in the Smok V8 Stick. Is it replaceable? How will I know if the battery is going bad on it? I can't find any information on battery replacement or if you can even replace it. I previously had an Alien kit and the batteries were easily removed from it, and I'm just wondering about the battery in this one. If it isn't replaceable or I can't open the device to see if there is battery damage, how will I know if it is going bad??

Sorry for being a newbie battery pain!! I didn't think to ask when I bought it 🤦🏼‍♀️

    Thanks in advance [emoji847]
