I started vaping about two years ago and I can honestly say that up until recently, I have not touched a cigarette or had any craving for them. At the time I was using one of the old Joye 510 models. However, during the past six months I've been enduring quite a bit of stress due to illness and conflict within my family (and when I say conflict, I mean of the Jerry Springer variety). My e-cig never stood a chance against that kind of pressure, and I have, unfortunately, started smoking again. Of course, this isn't a habit I want to keep around for much longer, especially since I've already kicked it before. So I shopped around looking for something stronger than my Joye 510 and bought an Ego-T. It still doesn't have quite the kick that I need, but it is a step in the right direction. I've been looking into possibly stepping it up with a dual coil atomizer and a battery with a high enough voltage to support it, but before I do, I wanted to check in here and see if anyone on the forums have any suggestions-- because this is the first place I went to when I started vaping and everyone was so helpful to me then. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated. -Beleaguered ex-smoker turned smoker who wants to be an ex-smoker again.

I've tried both with no success. The only thing that even managed to make it bearable is that I switched to a really intense cinnamon flavored juice...which overpowered the metallic taste a bit, but there's still a distinctly metallic aftertaste =(

There's definitely no chance of it being dry. I've soaked the wick several times trying to overwhelm the metallic flavor. I assumed these were genuine joye attys, since they came with my starter pack. =/

So I'm fairly new to vaping, and I'm only recently coming off of the life of my first two atomizers (one is definitely dead, the other is still hanging in there). I like the joye 510 atomizers but there's a metallic taste (which I've read is a common problem) which I can't for the life of me get rid of. I've boiled it, let it drain overnight, washed it out with alcohol, blown it out, even flooded it trying to get that taste out and it just won't go away. I bought an SLB from Vapor Kings, but I don't get any flavor out of it at all! So is there a store that sells joye 510s without the metallic taste, or a worthy clone? I kind of feel like my nice flavored juices are going to waste.

@Brian: It doesn't look like it's melting, and no bubbling sound when I take a drag. @mcquinn: Probably packed it too tight, I guess. I see plenty of juice in the filler so it's definitely not dry, but I did kind of stuff the filler in because I had trouble getting it in with my fingers (too much hanging out and my scissors wouldn't cut the strays). It didn't seem like a lot to me but I guess it was too much. I'll try using less filler next time, thanks!

It's just standard polyester poly fill from the craft section of walmart. It's strange, when I direct drip I get plenty of flavor but hardly any vapor, but when I use the cart I get tons of vapor but the taste is strange. I tried moving the filler around in the cart a bit and now it's not sticking to the atty anymore, but it still tastes kind of funky.

I recently got my e-juice in the mail and wanted to fill my own cart-- only I didn't have any polyfill. So for a while I direct dripped, but when I did that I only got one or two good puffs out of three drops of e-juice before I had to start really pulling (cheeks sucked in and everything) just to get a decent amount of vapor. So today I finally got my polyfill, struggled a bit getting it into the cart and then vaped a bit. Got tons of vapor, but I noticed the flavor was seriously diminished and my strawberry cheesecake flavored juice tasted similar to cherry cough medicine. Tried taking the cart out of the atomizer-- and half of my polyfill was stuck to the atty! Is that normal, or am I burning the polyfill? If I'm doing something wrong, any tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated...refilling the cart was quite awkward for me.

Hmm, if it's really strong, perhaps I should mix a little water in with it to dilute it a bit? It probably won't be an issue until I decide to try some flavored liquids, and somehow I think menthol flavored bananas wouldn't taste so great...XD

Thanks again for all of your suggestions =) I ordered my 510 today. But I do have one last question. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough spare cash to buy any menthol carts/liquid, and the starter kit comes with five USA mix carts (I'm assuming they're full flavored?). I can't stand the taste of full flavors, so is there a way to give them a menthol taste? Could I just buy some regular menthol liquid and drip it on the atomizer?

Thanks for all of your suggestions =) I'm leaning towards the Joye 510 (since you all seem to like it), but is the Spade worth the $20 extra? Just some follow up info: I do spend a lot of time at the computer, but the reason why I need a longer battery life is because I'm a college student so on days when I have school I would like to sneak out in between classes for a smoke. It would be mildly irritating for me if the e-cig just pooped out on me in the middle of a stressful day.

So, I have never picked up an e-cig in my life. I'm still smoking my Marlboro smooths. I've been reading a lot about them for the past few days and I've decided I'm ready to make the switch, the only problem being-- which model is best for me? I know you guys probably get these questions a lot, so I hope this isn't irritating... I've watched several reviews and so far nothing has caught my eye (there's so many ;_. These are some things I'm looking for: Good battery life (I really can't be arsed with charging this thing up every hour, but I can live with it if it only lasts maybe 4-6 hours. I also don't want to be stuck buying a new battery every two months) Decent vapor (I'm a pretty mild smoker-- as you can see from the fact that I smoke Marlboro smooths. The vapor production isn't as important to me as taste and texture, but I would like the vapor to be noticeable. I just don't necessarily have to eclipse the room in my vapor. Although that would be cool ;D). Ease of use (obviously I'm new to this and I don't want to jump right into any complicated models...I would personally prefer two piece models to three, but that's negotiable) PRICE (When I say price, I don't really mean that it has to be dirt cheap. I'm willing to pay up to $100 for a starter kit as long as the battery lasts me a good long time...otherwise I might as well just keep smoking analogs) Bonus: This isn't important to me, but I would really love something that looks pretty. The m401 dragon caught my eye but I was put off by the battery life. So...it doesn't HAVE to look cool, but I would really love it if it did.
