Actually the mod you have if I hear this correctly can take a tank or an RDA, you don't have to always drip..most of your problem with the throat hit is that you cannot drip 24nic you can at the max drip up to 6nic, try 24mg NIC in a tank instead. I use to smoke 2 packs a day and when I switched recently to an RDA I only dripped 6 nic at the max as well as 8 nic in a tank.
