  1. I use 100% VG from Johnson Creek in my Nautilus mini and an ELeaf iStick just fine at 8.2 watts. The BVC coils last me about two weeks under normal use. I have noticed that darker juices gunk up anything real fast, but very light or clear juices work best. So if you're a chocolate fan, well you're just gonna be going through more coils no matter what IMO. My go-to is Vanda from JC. Hope that helps.

  2. Here is a link to a kick.

    http://www.madvapes.com/the-kick-by-smok-tech.html

I don't know much about them, but it will give you some idea. I don't know if it will work in your mod, but I am sure you can get help from the guys here.

I hope that link will work for you!

I think this one is for 18000 series devices (186530,18350 and 18500). I didn't follow the order process thru so I don't know if 26650 is an option. Good luck!
  3. so let me get this right...

I can get a kick and set it to put out 4.5 volts.

to do that I would have to increase the watts?

I can adjust the kick to whatever I like or theres a different kick for whatever combo I want to get?

This is where my lack of access to the internet while at work is impeding!

Generally speaking, if you use wattage to regulate your mod, you ignore voltage. A vw device varies the voltage to meet the wattage demand and you no longer care what it is. The advantage to this is that the power is constant to the coil regardless of either battery voltage or coil resistance! Cool, huh?

Vv devices let you set voltage and it remains constant. But the power delivered through the coil (heat) will vary with the resistance, so 4.5 volts on a 2.5 ohm coil will be very different than with a 1.8 coil. Not a big deal to adjust to, and many people feel that finer voltage control works best for them. But being a set it and forget it kind of guy, I usually use watts to gauge my vape experience.

There is no right or wrong, just personal preference. Whatever gives you the vape you want is the right answer for you.

  4. If you don't mind box mods, you might consider picking up an iTaste MVP. They are a vv/vw device with a monstrous battery life and can be found for $40 or less on sale. It's a good mod for experimenting with variable wattage to find your happy place. Good travel device too.

Hope that helps! Keep calm and vape on!

  5. Are there kicks that will give me like...1 volt more? mind you, im not dripping though just tanking away so im not sure of the math yet. would the watts be affected or would they adjust automatically?

Im more of a plug and play kindof guy, for now anyways!

A typical kick will go from 3.2 volts to as much as 6 or more. I'm more of a wattage guy, though. Watts equals heat and if you set the watts to hit your flavor/vapor sweet spot, it will adjust the voltage to meet the demand, hence the set it and forget it. I find that 7 to 8 watts gives me the right flavor and vapor combination. I'm not a cloud chaser. Not that there's anything wrong with that! :) I just leave that to the more experienced daredevils.
  6. Throw it away!! It's just a battery! Certainly not worth the risk. Something went wrong with the cell.

Li-ion cells discharged that low can form sharp crystals in the catalyst which rip through the thin bag that holds the catalyst. When the bag is ripped, all bets are off. Time for the famous vent with flames.

Since you do not have an xray machine to see inside the battery, you can never know when and if those crystals form. Venting with flames can happen at any time. Tomorrow or a year from now.

Also remember that venting with flames is a THERMAL non-electrical condition that can take adjacent cells with the venting cell. Pretty soon you wont just have one cell venting but 10 or 20 (if you store your batteries near each other), and thats more than enough to burn down your house or catch your car on fire.

They didnt just ground an entire fleet of planes because li-ion fires are not really a problem. They grounded the planes because li-ion venting cells are VERY dangerous.

And did I mention all the toxic gases that a venting cell produces?

And reviving a low-voltage cell saves how much money? Just not worth the risk.

Amen brother! Safety first! Toss that battery!
  7. Hey christov! Stay away from stacking batteries, IMO. There's a safety issue there. When you stack batteries you double the voltage, and hence the watts. Use a lower than expected resistance coil or make a mistake and BOOM. Safety first. If your mech mod seems to be a little anemic for higher resistance coils (over 1.8 ohm), you might consider a kick. A kick is a small electric amp the sits on top of the battery to boost voltage/watts to your desired level. Make sure your mod can accommodate an extra half inch extension first. The most common kick is probably the Smoktech kick. It's a vw circuit. Finding your sweet spot can take a little trial and error, but once you find it you can set it and forget it. A good kick will run you about $15 online. 101vape has them for that price, but you can probably find them at your favorite site as well.

I started making my own coils for my drippers and Fogger V4 about two months ago and I agree with everyone that it's pretty easy with a few inexpensive tools. But get an ohm meter first and test test test! Good luck and happy vaping!

  8. Um, From my understanding the MVP 2 wont fire below 1.2 ohms. It will read the ohms below that but wont fire. I have one. :-)

The MVP will actually fire down to .6 ohms, but I don't recommend it. You'd probably blow out the board before long. The MVP is not a suitable sub ohm mod.

That being said, I always build my coils at about 1.3 ohms and they fire on the MVP just dandy. For dual coils I always use 32 g kanthal. 32 is not as easy to work with as 28, but with a little practice you'll be building great micro coils out of 32 in no time. Try annealing the wire before you wrap to take some if the springiness out of the wire. It seems to work well for me. My Fogger V4 has dual 9/10 wrap 32 g coils and comes in at just over 1.3 ohms. Fires great on my MVP.

  9. Thanks bro im definitely going to try it out. Im going to keep it over an ohm for sure. Im not trying to blow clouds i just heard the flavor is a lot better on a rebuildable.

That is true. Whether is a dripper or a rebuildable atomizer, like a Kayfun or Fogger, the flavor will blow away clearos. I'm a cotton wick guy myself. It makes a difference! Let us know how you do!
  10. I'd recommend getting an ego style battery or other 510 mod to use instead of the JC battery. IMO the Innokin MVP rocks the protank and is a great bang for the buck upgrade to your vaping.

The Vea batteries really are intended only for the Vea cartos and tanks. BTW, the resistance isn't secret since they post it right on the web site. I just measured a JC canteen at 2.65 ohms. How it fires at 2.8 volts is anyone's guess. I still think it's a typo. Has anyone taken a direct measurement of the battery voltage?

Glad you got it working though!

  11. A good starter "kit" would be the Kanger EVOD kit (IMO)... it comes with two batteries, two clearomizers, a few spare coil-heads, and a charger.  The batteries come in three basic sizes (capacity), 650mAh, 900/950mAh, and 1100+mAh.  The larger the mAh capacity, the longer you can vape on it before recharging, but they also cost more.  The clearomizers that come with the kit are refillable, hold 1.6-1.8ml of juice (roughly), and have a replaceable bottom-coil, so they are not disposable (unless you break them, of course).  You can get the kits online for ~$25, on the low-side, and your local Brick & Mortar stores may carry them as well... or another brand, like Vision, JoyeTech, or Innokin (just to name a few reliable brands).

Any of the ones mentioned above will get you started, and you can use any e-juice you like, or even the one you've been using to refill your BLU cigalikes.

Welcome to VT!  And congrats on kicking analogs!

    +1. Good advice Earthling!
  12. I am a newbie that have been smoking blu e-cigs for 6 months, I stopped in a smoke shop and bought a variable voltage device and three different flavors and they all taste the same it is like a sweet grape taste,,,Any advice? I liked the Blu flavor but needed something stronger, more variety and I am exploring the field...Please help me here? Thanks!

God, I sound like a commercial, but honest, I'm not. Blu flavors are made by Johnson Creek Smokejuice, so if you like Blu you might like the variety at JC.

OK, that's the last time I'm mentioning Johnson Creek on this thread, I promise. :)

  13. Welcome!

I lived in FL (Merritt Island) for a couple of years... loved the weather, hated the people (or at least my neighbors), lol

Speaking of weather, it's nearly 3:30... almost time for the daily rainshower :D

    +1

I moved here from Wisconsin so weather is a big plus. Wisconsin and Midwest people are salt of the earth. Miami drivers are salt in the wound. :D
