  1. They are joye ones . So they last one month and you have to buy 2 because from. One to another they might not be good ? That sucks .

Can I take an atty apart and out it back together better to make it work better ? On one of them if I look into it I can see a white wick thing coming from under the mesh part is that wrong ?

I recommend buying attys in bulk quantities of at least five. You get a break on the price and you have back up in case a bad one shows up. I know it seems like you're spending a lot of money, but think about what you used to spend on analogs.

I order five attys at a time from ecigsupply.com at around $37.00. I order 3 bottles of juice at a time at around $29.00. The attys last me at least two months(I have two or three e-cigs in play at a time), so that works out to $18.50/month on attys. The juice lasts about two weeks, which works out to around $60.00/month for juice. That's $78.50/month.

I smoked 4 cartons of analogs per month, which cost me around $160.00. The way I figure it, I'm saving almost $100 month by vaping.

  2. Although it can vary widely from person to person it has been said to be between 30mg and 60mg for an adult and only 10 mg for a child for nicotine to kill you or your pet

Nicotine is a very hazardous material and should be handled with respect and never abused ....not that anyone here would just thought I would add that bit

If you take longer slower draws of your device and that works that's very cool but I would advise that the rule of thumb should be if you do display any signs of OD (over dose) that would be dizziness or sore heads cut down the amount of nicotine you are using if you are useing EXTRA HIGH 36mg cut it down to 24mg and if that's too much 18mg and so on till it right.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. In order to get the levels of nicotine you're talking about, you would have to drink a couple of bottle of the juice. A person using an e-cig would have to work pretty hard to get anywhere close to 30-60mg of nicotine into their system by inhaling.

Having said that, changing either nic levels or the way you use the device is a good idea if you're getting bad side effects. It's kind of like the guy who went to the doctor:

Man: "Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm like this."

Doctor: "Then don't move your arm like that."

  3. So far, the girls in our women's home have only used carts rated high or med. After only a few puffs, they say they are getting buzzed and headachey as if they were smoking a cigar or something. Even the woman who smokes Marlboro reds. I guess I should have told them to start with the low cart but thought the high was more like a regular full strength cig.

Regardless of the strength, the other factor that is going to contribute to the "buzz" or headache is how the user is vaping. If they are drawing on the e-cig like they would an analog, they are going to be more prone to the unpleasant side effects of nicotine. At least that's my experience. With e-cigs the user needs to learn a new way of "smoking", so to speak.

I have learned to take long, slow draws on my 510, and limit myself to 2-3 draws at a time. I tend to go 15-20 minutes between draws, which has eliminated the "buzz" from the nicotine. I use a 24-28mg strength juice in order to get the throat hit that I'm looking for.

  4. I just remember last time this came up in regards to life insurance premiums. Kind of stinks that such a healthy alternative to smoking is penalized the same. Not sure what they could really test for to distinguish the two though. As I said though,4 days and lots of water I see eople saying works. I know when I smoked though, no way I could go for 4 days without.

There's the rub! No way to identify the source of the nicotine. Kind of like standing too close to the doobie at a Greatful Dead concert and getting pulled for a random drug test at work the next day.

  5. The key to any encounter with TSA is demeanor! The slightest inkling that the passenger is nervous or angry is going to get attention...and not the good kind. With the Christmas Day incident, air rage incidents a couple of times a month, and general crazies flying these day, TSA is just not prone to toleration. My general approach is to smile and say "Yes, sir/ma'am" at every turn. And so far, that has worked pretty well. Not that I haven't gone through my share of advanced screenings, but getting upset would not improve the situation.

  6. Keep in mind that the purpose of smoking cessation products is to get people off of cigarettes/nicotine. The idea with most of the patches, gum, etc., is that you keep reducing the nicotine levels until the patient can quit completely. E-cigs, while they can allow a person to withdraw from nicotine by reducing the nicotine levels, is more of a substitute for analogs. I would want to keep them from being classified in any way that would allow the FDA to mess with them, other than maybe having a say in safety factors. I don't want to give them a back door for eventually getting rid of them. Because that's what the big tobacco companies want to see happen.

  7. The taste of burning tobacco is an acquired taste. There's really nothing good about it. As as long as I'm getting the nicotine, I might as well end up with a good taste in my mouth. What I'm finding is that I need to change up pretty often because I get tired of one taste. Today I'm really enjoying red hot cinnamon sticks. Yesterday it was strawberry cheesecake.

  8. When do you know it's time to replace your cart (I use a Joye 510)? I was direct dripping but went back to soaking the fiber in the cart. Just got some VG juice from Johnson Creek...very mild on flavor (mercado & wisconsin frost) and not a great throat hit, so I'll probably stick to PG. I'm finding that I usually need to re-wet the cart fiber after 2 thorough draws. Sound about right? Also, been getting a lot of the juice on my hands and table surface when removing and replacing the cart. I have paper towels handy & have been washing my hands more often but can anyone tell me of dangers when skin is exposed to the liquid?

You've gotten some great replies on nic levels and such, but I wanted to share an observation on when to replace the cart/filler. I use a 510 atty on a DS905, and when I can only add a couple of drops to re-wet the filler it's a good indication that I need to replace it. I think after a while, the filler gets a "crust" on it from the heat of the atty and it doesn't absorb as well. That and it just becomes saturated with juice that doesn't get pulled into the atty.

As for the VG juice, I've found that I need a little higher level of nicotine in VG to get the same throat hit. It probably has something to do with the fact that VG vaporizes easier, or more efficiently than PG. Not sure, but a little higher nic level gives me what I'm looking for.

  9. Hmm this could be really good and really bad. If the supplier really is a screw ball then have at it, but what if one unhappy customer calls out a supplier? Does that make the supplier bad or is it just one sour apple? I'll be interested in seeing the video.

I'm with you, Christopher. Before anyone is called out they should be asked if they want to give their side of the story. It's just too easy to ruin someone's reputation with unfounded charges. I agree, if the supplier is really a bad egg and doesn't respond with an explanation, let people know. But if they offer an explanation or a solution, be sure to give that side of the story as well.

  10. The 510 works for about 1-hour, then dies. I followed the instructions about charging the battery for 8-hours (first charge), using for 20-minutes, and then re-charging for 1-hour ...

These instructions are unnecessary steps. This method is for older style batteries and the 8 hour/20 minute steps really don't accomplish anything. When the batteries are fully charged they are fully charged...period! The method described in the instructions don't hurt anything. They just don't accomplish anything.

As someone else pointed out, the 510 batteries will last about 60-90 minutes on a charge. You will eventually start looking at some of the mods if you follow the pattern most of us have followed.

Moving away from the pre-filled carts will also be a better choice since you want to go to 0-nic. Explore some of the video links to learn about using e-liquid, how to put new fill in carts, and how to direct-drip. Then you can experiment to figure out what works best for you.

Welcome to the forum and ask all the questions you need to in order to get the most out of vaping. It really is a better choice than analogs.

  11. Keep in mind that any alcohol content in the vapor is going to be even lower than in liquid form because of a vaporization process. The heat of the atomizer is going to burn off a significant portion of any alcohol. Mouthwash, on the other hand, is not diluted in any way, and some of them contain a pretty high volume of alcohol as a primary ingredient. I would be shocked if you were able to trigger your interlock after vaping.

  12. The recommendation of the 510 is a good one. But don't get too hung up on whether or not it looks like an analog. I think you'll find that to be one of the least important factors if you find you enjoy vaping. In fact, if you end up like most of us, you will probably start thinking about one of the mod units pretty quickly because of extended battery life. And none of the mods looks like your Marlboro or Camel analogs.

In fact, I'll go a step further and say that once you get going, you won't even care if you get a cigarette taste when you vape. If you're getting your nicotine, you'll enjoy a variety of flavors that are available. And even better, you won't make up in the morning with your mouth tasting like a herd of camels hiked through your overnight.

Good luck with making the switch. Odds are, you will find this is a much better option than analogs.

  13. Also suggest that she stop buying the pre-filled carts and buy juice to refill herself. There are videos and threads here on how to do that if she needs help. The cost will plummet if she just makes that switch. I think she'll find that the flavor is much better as well.

  14. Perusing the LiquidXpress site, the flavors you named are all PG based, so the issue is not PG vs VG. There is a definite fall-off when the charge drops on your batteries, and I seldom wait until mine are fully discharged. I'm not familiar with the 801, so I won't speculate there. With my 510, I get a little over two hours of good performance before I need to swap and charge. With my DS905, I get around five or six hours.

If you've been using the same atty for three weeks, it is entirely possible that it has reached the end of its life. I'm discovering that atty life is variable. I have one on my 510 PT that I've been using for a month and is still going strong. I had another on my 510 that only lasted two weeks. I've got it sitting with a chunk of paper towel stuffed in it in my kit box in hopes that I can at least fall back on it in an emergency, but vapor production even with VG juice is terrible.

  15. I received my latest order yesterday: Espresso, Caramel Chocolate Brownie and Orange Dreamsicle.

The Espresso is my favorite with a full, rich coffee flavor. Excellent morning or after dinner vape.

The Orange Dreamsicle is very good, and will make a good all-day choice, I think. Very evident orange flavor.

The Caramel Chocolate Brownie comes across with a very strong chocolate flavor...along the lines of semi-sweet chocolate. I don't really pick up much caramel flavor, but would probably notice if it wasn't there. If that makes any sense.

Once again, I'm pleased with my choices from Ms. T's and will be going back for more in the future.

  16. Overnight UPS does not include Saturday delivery. Don't ask me why, but it doesn't. EXCEPT, the special rate for delivery before noon is included. That normally applies to documents that have to be delivered. FedEx, on the other hand, does deliver overnight packages on Saturday. Could be part of the reason they are taking business away from UPS.

  17. Chris (or any other knowledgeable person), on MyPVShop's website, there is a note about USB PT events that burnt out the USB port or worse. Has anyone heard anything about this? And if so, how prevalent is it? I've taken to just leaving my USB PT plugged in long enough to charge the battery...just in case.

  18. So far, I haven't bothered cleaning mine. I've been using the current two for about a month now. I remember feeling very paranoid about how long they were going to last when I first started vaping. Seems like I was constantly reading about atties and batteries dying after a very short period of time. I'm thinking that, at least with the 510 atties I use, as long as I stick with Joye product I'm going to do fine.

I do wonder if there is a difference in atty life depending on whether you direct drip or not. Haven't seen too much written about that.
