Try pulling the connector out with a paper clip. Gently lift the BP's connector, as well as the carto's. (some cartos just plain don't fit no matter what. Try using a different brand, type)
Try sanding lightly the battery connection place, and the button place?
Try a dab of noalox on the button connection to battery place?
