Weird seemingly unique "Same flavour" topic

Ok so this is a weird question, I've been vaping for about a month and would like to think I generally know stuff about it.

I stopped smoking a long time before I started vaping as more of a hobby and tried lot's of different vapors from the same company which all taste different and I grew to love. I've also got different vapors with higher vg to pg ratio so I know this can't be it.

Let me start with the basics, there are 4 of us in the family that have the same model (Eleaf iStick 20w, except here in the UK it is called the TECC curve 2). I tried a new flavour and thought it was disgusting, then I realised my atomizer was probably time for a change, so I changed it and the fluid to a different flavour just to see the difference, cleaned out the tank and let it absorb. I'm still getting the same flavour and I've changed it to two different and stronger flavours with different PG/VG. I've also tried the same flavour through other family members tanks and tasted it totally fine. There is just this weird disgusting flavour.

At first I thought it was possibly something to do with the fact I got a scope down my nostril to my voicebox last week with local anesthetic so maybe affecting my taste, but when I realised I can taste the same flavour differently from theirs (and even when I put their tanks on my battery) I'm really confused as to what the problem could be. They say that mine tastes fine to them as well, on both mine and their box, So I can't put it down to vaper's tongue.

They were heavy smokers just getting their taste back, I never was and didn't smoke for long, is it possible that they are still experiencing the sudden experience of heightened taste compared to me, or can you just kind of go off vaping that fast?

I usually exhale through my nose to get full flavour. (sorry for the repeated use of the UK spelling of "Flavour" but it's just habit) For example Raspberry Sorbet and Ice menthol both have the same disgusting flavour but I love both of them. Is it possibly temporary?

The other weird thing is that I used to go up to 11.2w which would be 4.0v with an ohm reading of 1.5, right now the highest I can go for similar is 9.7w for a 4.0v reading with a 1.7ohm reading, could that be affecting the flavour?

I do know some things but I'm still quite new to the whole thing so any feedback is really appreciated.

PS I'm not dehydrated, no allergies are affecting me and I'm not ill at the moment, so any pros keep that in mind. :)

Just a shot in the dark but the Eleaf iStick 20W in the US is notorious for saying one power setting on the display but actually running hotter. If the TECC curve 2 is the same device, maybe you fried the wick in your coil? We've found that if you switch it to the voltage setting, it's closer to the real temperature. Might try changing the juice and coil again, start vaping at the lowest setting. If it's not doing it for you, turn it up a little. Vape. Repeat until you get a slight burnt taste then back it down a notch and lock it there.

Can't spell in either US English or the Queen's English. :(

hmm that could be something I could try, but the device is running cool, not heating up, my step father had an issue where it wouldn't go higher than 8.5w and had to change the coil, so I've tried to learn from the mistakes. I don't really know what "burnt" is meant to taste like if you know what I mean, I just know that it doesn't taste right, maybe sort of like plastic if that makes sense? Yeah it's by the same company totally-wicked I think, it says on the box. I just didn't think there would be an issue after a proper clean, change of atomizer and fluid a few times.

The PG on UK fluid is more dominant so could the throat hit over time affect your sensitivity to the taste? Obviously in America (Where it has been more established) companies have had more time to adjust things, and althought I'm what you might call a *Cloud Chaser* lol, it just seems that over here they tend to go 70/30 pg/vg for some reason, maybe for a higher nicotine level, I don't know the whole chemistry of it, but it's just what I've noticed.

I've just tried what you said, and seems to be displaying the same voltage/wattage regardless, could it be due to the fact that I usually use it at a higher wattage in general. I can't find many guides for either TECC curve 2 or eleaf istick in regards to charging depending on what wattage you use it at and how long you inhale, are these all variables that need to be taken into consideration for a healthy battery life and atomizer, I really am a noob come to think of it, but good at explaining things I guess lol.

Also thank you for the quick reply

also I don't really know much about wicks, because the person I go to didn't really explain it properly, is there any way of looking up pictures of how they are supposed to look? The way he explained it was that wicks were being outdated and the tank that I have doesn't... use them? I could be totally wrong here, and that may be one of the things I know least about. I'd put some pictures up but it's not letting me

If this actually posts then these are the other two pictures, if not, let me know if you see anything from the previous two pictures, sorry I'm not sure if it is because I've only just joined or if there is a fault in the forum just now

None of your gear looks familiar to me so I can't be much help, but there are times when flavors seem off taste to me, so I switch flavors for a few hours and it seems to help get my taste buds working again.

Some flavors require more heat than others, and some need less.

What kind of coil is that? Does anybody recognize that?

@sugarglidezz

Im sorry. I tried reading your posts a couple of times because I'm confused a little.

If I understand, you are tasting "something" unpleasant even if you taste anothers' tank and they all agree that it tastes fine to them whether its your tank or theirs. In other words, they do not experience the unpleasant taste on your device. But you taste the unpleasantness no matter what device you try.  Correct?

"Burnt" is when you get that harsh throat burning feeling. This happens when there is to much power for your coil. To me once this happens I feel the coil is no good any more but that's just my opinion.  Hope I  gave you a little feel on the meaning & reaction on "burnt". VAPE ON VAPSTER!✌

I can provide very little help with your problem, but I can address a few things in your post.

Flavors can go from tasting good, to bad overnight for no apparent reason.  I have had it happen a few times.

If it tastes good in other tanks that are the same, there must be something that has changed with your tank.  Possibly something in the base?

Changing wattage can change some flavors dramatically.

Nearly all atomizers have some type of wick.  It is the white stuff inside the vertical slot of the coil.  Coil related bad flavors can come from something stuck in the wicking (cleaner, or oil or something similar)  It can also come from a burnt insulator.  If you changed the coil this should not be a problem.

The length of draw is totally subjective.  If you like a long draw or short draw it is the correct draw if it works for you.  The iStick has a 10 second cut off, I think, so anything less than 10 seconds is fine.  The charge time works pretty much the same way.  The more you use it the more you have to charge it.  I personally like to vape them until they are drained and plug in until fully charged.  This usually requires 2 isticks though.  I also don't charge unattended.  I don't stare at them while they charge, but I don't leave the house, or go to bed with them charging.  I do the same with my phones, and laptops.  It may be overkill, but it makes me feel better.

I hope you get your problem fixed!
