Help with picking juice

Recommended Posts

I have been using 1.8% from V2, Lava and DFWVapor. I learned how to hit it but when I try to get others to go digital when they take a toot (ShoutOut to GrimmGreen) they all choke. I am still a little lost with it all. I know there is PG (throat hit) VG (vapor) then nic and flavor. I tried some 2.4% before and that hit to hard for me. When I order my juice there was no option for % of VG/PG so I assume it's 50/50.

My mom smokes newport lights and is wanting to switch to digital, what should I get to help her make the switch?

What are some good sites for juice, batteries and tnks/clearmizers?

Thanks

Check out the marketplace here. Vape dudes has great juice, ecblends is another. I smoked newports in the dark green box for almost 20 years. 18-24mg was enough nicotine for me not to grab analogs. Been going analog free almost 6 weeks. :)

Thanks. I saw the Marketplace here after the post and started reading some post. Found great places to order juice from but nothing on how to get a nice easy hit.

This should help get a nice and easy hit:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337017

This too:

I know its all on how to properly inhale off an e-cig, but the majority of factors working towards getting a "good hit" are directly related to inhalation technique. The VG and nic content of your juice are another part of it, while your equipment comprises the rest of the equation.

Personally, I wouldn't ever assume VG content is 50/50. Rather, one should figure unspecified ratio leans towards a higher PG content. Doesn't mean you cannot get a good vape.... this is where your equipment comes in.

Having a greater airflow across your atomizer's coil will result in more vapor. If you are drawing too hard, you need more inflow of air, and a hotter coil to keep up. Otherwise, you'll kill your vape. If you draw too loose, you'll just end up burning the wick in your atty, and get very little vapor in return. Therefore, a balance must be struck. And, unless you're a more advanced user with a proclivity for getting all MacGuyver and modifying your equipment to meet your demands, you need to learn to properly draw off your e-cig.

Since this is probably becoming more confusing than helpful, I'll leave it there. Save to say that a proper draw is the key to a good vape. Learn your gear, know your juice, and you'll never have a bad vape!!!

Hope this helps!!! :p

Thanks CascadianExotics, I will try to show a toot 1st.

I only use 24mg right now and only order liquid from VapeDudes and a little from Sweet-Vapes.. They have by far been the most consistent in quality and service.

Thanks. I just spent $80+ at Mt.Baker on some juice (4), 4 T2's and a 1100mah WInder. SO much out there pointing to Mt.Baker. I have seen a lot out there about VapeDudes but I don't have a lot of money and 16.99 for 30ml vs 7.49 for 30ml is a big difference. Have you tried Mt.Baker? Is VapeDudes Juice that much better? SO many flavors out there is is so hard to choose. I am still trying to find that go-to juice and get my hardware together. I am ordering a ProTank today for myself. My mom thinks she is going to stay vaping and my sister wants to start but I am paying for it all until they are sure they want to go all out on vaping.

One thing I've learned is to ALWAYS turn down the voltage on my devices before letting others have a go at it. They normally hit it like they would an analogue, and that's what chokes them the most. 4v should do the trick for most smokers.

PG is what gives throat hit, while VG produces the vapor. Often smokers will hit PG heavy fluid and feel like they're not getting enough "smoke", so they'll hit it harder trying to get the right amount of it... and choke themselves out in the process. So I highly recommend going with a higher VG ratio. I don't know why everyone claims most juices are 50/50 when the ratio isn't labeled on them, but most I have found to be more like a 70/30 or 80/20 ratio of PG to VG.

Personally I won't buy from any vendor that doesn't list their ratios, but this is partially due to me being PG sensitive. Which is another thing to watch for when letting someone hit your PV... and another reason why you should give them a higher VG ratio on the juice.

Flavor has a lot of impact on TH as well. What is commonly referred to as "crack juice" because they crack plastic tanks (sours, cinnamon, citrus, etc.) usually have the greatest TH as well.

I would suggest giving Mt. Baker Vapor's 555 50/50 ratio juice w/ 1 extra flavor shot a chance with your smoker friends. It's a sweet and nutty tobacco flavor that vapes very smoothly on just about any voltage, and I have yet to see someone that didn't like it when giving my device a toot.

I haven't ever tried Mt Baker, hear a lot of good things. At this point I know what I like and where to get it lol. I have a difficult time with "value" places because every time I have ordered from the lower priced places I have hated it. I order 100ml bottles from VapeDudes of my two all day vape flavors too so that saves some money. $45 for 100ml is ok by me for the quality I get. I just have a hard time thinking $7.49 for 30ml contains the best quality ingredients.Outside a few times when drinking when I grabbed my tank of tobacco from sweet-vapes.com, I have had either a tank of Spearmint or a tank of Candy Cane in my T2 on my battery for over a month now. I have tried a lot of flavors from VapeDudes I do not like, but none were "nasty". All the "discount" liquid I have ever ordered ended up being vile.

Everyone likes different things, but I am fortunate enough to not have to worry about saving a little bit of money on liquids especially when thinking about the ~$600 a month my wife and I were spending on analogs before we quit lol.

I was just like you on those opinions, and I switched from premium juices ($16+ for 30ml) to MBV about 4 mo. ago... I really liked their juice THAT much. I was really not expecting it to be as good as it turned out, especially since I had tried other cheap juices like the China brands (Dekang, for example) and HATED them. Give them a small test order and see how it goes. I can't promise you'll like it due to our differences in taste, but at $5-$7 for 15ml it can't hurt to at least give it a try. ;)

@ bcartervol98, I don't mind spending the extra money if it's worth it, I just heard MBV had good juice so I decided to try them. Once I find a couple good all day vapes I will try other companies. I just spent $130 in the last 2 days on tanks, juice and a 1100 Winder. This is adding up quick. I did just order 1 pro tank but got some cheap T2's to start off with. As a n00b I really don't know what to buy so I am trying to save where I can so I can get decent hardware. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks also xladybugx.

Some flavors you might want to check out over at MBV that are my all day vapes: 555 (sweet/nutty tobacco), RY4 (warning, this is licorice and anise... for more standard RY4 flavor try the 555), Fruit Stripe (tastes just like the gum!), and Zinger (sweet tea with a lemony inhale/exhale, kinda cool).

The Pro tank attys are some of the cheapest around. Also cheap are cartomizers, which you can purchase tanks for. Downright cheapest are RBAs (re-buildable attys), but that's for advanced folks. As for batteries, I usually find them cheapest on Amazon, and find protected Li-Ons last a lot longer than IMR since IMR's lack of protection can mean short lifespan if you don't switch out batteries every time you get down to a 30% charge (check your device though to see if it can take them, and also make sure you have a smart charger, as they are slightly more risky than IMR). Plus if you go for the protected Li-Ons you can get the Panasonic 3400mah batteries.

Thanks xladybugx, all I have right now is 2X650mah ego's. (1 with LAVA logo that I got from a smoke shop and 1 that is a joytech upgrade, it has the JT scribe on it that I got from DFWVapor) I have a 1100 Winder coming from MBV shipped out. Ordered it Wed but got shipped today. Seems like the shipping isn't that great. I only have the charger that came with the "Lava" kit that I bought. I did order 2 chargers from MBV. My battery dies towards the end of the day, I go through about 3+ml since my battery won't last. My mom may go through 1.6ml (stardust). I know once I get my 1100 I will be going through a lot more juice.

What would you recommend for inexpensive clearo's/tanks.

I swear by Kanger T2s, also called Ego CC longwick clearomizers. Veteran Vaper has them and they are in the Marketplace. $4.39 and replacement coils are $2. Its all I use at the current time. I have never had one leak and are very consistent it seems. I have about 20 of them with no variance in performance.

I would like to concur with bcarter. I bought three so far and they have served me well. Much nicer hit then the other carts I got with the original setup and its an airy hit to some but it's my favorite hit by far. I can't wait to see how they perform on my eVIC when that comes in.

The thing I like other than being easy to fill and never leaking is they are cheap enough to keep a bunch. Then when I blow a coil, I just unscrew it, throw it away, throw the tank and tip in a cup with rubbing alcohol for a couple days, and grab an already cleaned one and use that one. I always have 7-8 clean and waiting to get put in the game.

It sounds like you're rolling in the good tips and tricks, not much for me to add, except for a draw tip. When newbies take a draw, have them let some escape their mouth before inhaling. This will help to relieve the cough. Also, have them hold the button for only a second or maybe two, depending on your setup. Us vets are vapor hogs, but if we remember back to the good old first toots we ever had before our lungs began their stop-smoking healing process, we couldn't handle it at all either. (most of us).

OHH, and the other day, I found a bottle of lime/cherry/? Zero nic and was quite impressed at how deeply I could inhale it. I still can't inhale the nicQuid very deeply to this day. (way too many years of smoking, although my lungs have improved tremendously since I switched over to vaping, they still have layers of tar to expel).

Maybe setting up a clearomizer/carto with zero nic for the cougher's to try? Or 6mg? Backup to your backup... :)

Lol I spent $400 on this in the first week so I understand your pain. :)

OUCH. I wish I had that much to spend. I would love to get a Silver Bullet or Tesla etc. (don't know to much about the big guys)

This is what I bought though:

8xT2's and a 5pck of heads

Pro Tank

1100 Winder

2xCharger kits

Hot Chocolate

Thug Juice

Echto Cooler

Menthol

Red Hots

Strawberry (20/80 12mg nic)

I have 2X650's, 2xstardust and 1 charger.

Thanks Uma. I did order the Strawberry above for others to try. When I stopped smoking the 1st few days I could not vape in the morning, I had to wait until my lungs were up and going. I have sever asthma maybe COPD, So I had to stop smoking. I need to see a lung specialist but I don't have insurance.

I spent some of my savings bc I felt like it was a worthy investment since this is all I wanna do now instead of smoking. So that's why I spent the money but I also started a DIY kit for rewicking and making my own juice so I have 150 wrapped up in that and the other 250 in equipment. So I don't have a ton of stuff just bought a few pricey items that I read about and decided I really wanted to try them. That's all.

And good for you for stopping when you realized you have a serious health issue. Now just gotta get to the doctor! :)

So I got some of my orders in today. The T2's are a big step up from the cheap clearo's I had. I like them but man, this ProTank is ******* awesome. The stainless 1100 Winder with the ProTank looks awesome together. I feel like a kid on xmas. LOL

I am a little disappointed in the juices I got. The red hots made me choke so I mixed with menthol (I read the choking issue in the reviews, so I knew but DWF's didn't make me choke. I have the juices steeping right now.

Hot Chocolate was OK, my mom likes it so that's good.

Ecto Cooler was OK, I think it will be better after steeping

Thug Juice was perfumey (a lot of people said that and wait for it to steep)

Berry Treat is OK. I think it will be better after steeping.

I haven't tried the Strawberry or menthol yet.
