Banana will overpower most flavors. I usually only add about 3 drops to a 10ml batch otherwise its too much. I have also noticed that too much flavor doesn't necessarily ruin the juice, what will though is when you are not calculating the ratio of the juice to your PG/VG content. However, a good tip to remember is.... sometimes less is more.

Banana and some dark Chocolate are ones I have found so far. Anise will as well.

    New DIYer question:

Which flavors tend to overwhelm/dominate other flavors when added to mix?

I frequently have the same problem. sometimes if you set them aside to steep for a bit, that can help. I find when I am having trouble with my taste buds I try to mix up something new. then when I go back to my favorites they taste good again.

I vape a lot of coffee type flavors, so if I switch to fruit flavors for a few days, that seems to help reset my taste buds.

Not sure if my taste buds are revolting or I'm doing something wrong. Been playing with DIY for a short while and sometimes my mixes are ok, sometimes not so much. Which brings me to the question I have been pondering ....... is there a point at which a flavor starts "going backwards" and the finished juice mix just tastes crummy? Lately my mixes have not been tasting as good as I remember - or think they should, but people around me say the odor of the flavor is quite noticeable, and some who I allow to sample my vape, such as mixes blended with Black Cherry, Chocolate, Tosted Marshmallow, say the taste is there, sometimes to the point of being too much for them, but I can hardly taste it. I'm beginning to think it's me getting familair with the flavor to the point where my taste buds ignore it and I need to change directions for a while. I'm mixing at 20% flavor so before I go bumping up the flavor ratio I would like some guidance from some of the more experienced DIYer's.

Bought a half gallon for cleaning tanks and such, lady looked at me funny. Got an even funnier look when I said I wasn't going to drink it.

Use vodka you'll be fine I use Absolute some use Everclear either one will do. I stay away from the cheap stuff for juices. I save the cheap stuff for atty cleaner.

So far so good, I only out a few strained drops in the bottle. It actually taste more like a cig than I'm used too. Might be clogging tho little harder drag..

QUESTION what about flavors based in VG with only a little acohol in it? Our Chinise market has them cheap, they are natural and mostly VG. Considering you only put a few drops in your mix. Will the acohol hurt anything.

Be careful with that coffee mix, it can gunk up your coil fast and burn it out.

Someone mentioned coffee so I made some with coffee grounds and heated it with a small amount glycerin, then strained it to get a very dark flavor I added some stevia & the coffee to a VG base and no nicotine.. I think I got a caffeine buzz.. Taste good..

That really does sound strange. Not sure if possibly the wrong strength of nicotine or possibly a strange reaction to one of the flavors.....

If you already diluted it down, I would lean toward a reaction to one of the flavors. If you are still getting strong throat hit....maybe try diluting a bit more and see how that works.

Ok whipped up 4 diff juices and tried cpl lastnight, started feeling light headed and didn't think much of it.

This morning tried again and 4 - 5 drags same thing hazy and light headed. Too much Nic?

Using the ejuicemeup calc and measured twice.

Possible they miss marked the Nic strength? I can't hit the stuff 3 times without the haziness starting. Even tried dbling up the pg / vg in it.

Supposed to be 36mg nic and I set everything up for 12 - 14 nic strength, so?

If you like coffee type flavors I highly recommend Flavour arts coffee espresso...a little goes a long way. It has become one of my staple flavors....mix with tiramisu, apple pie, cinnamon/carmel (cinnamon roll).

I have tried many coffee flavors, and this one just seems to be the closest. not to mention its a clear flavor...some of the coffees are very dark.

Yup, heard that about the tobaccos, got a recipe for the vanilla. Never had a coffee / latte so thought I'd better ask.

Exactly !!! its much easier to add a bit more than to try to take it away. I usually mix at about 20-25% depending on the mix. some tobacco flavors are very, very strong and only need a couple of drops.

I'll be starting my DIY journey this weekend! Got some tobaccos and trying for a good Vanilla mix.

Flavorshack sent me some latte samples, I'll be using the ejuice calc.

What % should I start out with these latte flavors to try?

How do you save this to your toolbar? Are you using FireFox?

Essential Depot has the VG and the PG by the gallon, on sale right now, if anyone's interested. The prices will go up 20% with their next batches. http://www.essentialdepot.com/servlet/the-Propylene-Glycol/Categories

menthol flavoring works a bit better, but the creme de menthe helps.....just very small amounts !! ya, I've lots count of all the flavorings. I have my staples, but keep all the rest just in case or to spice up a flavor.

Yes you can !! just be careful how much you keep stored....the flavor does change overtime, but a couple/three months worth should be good. you will also find your taste will change along the way....I am always fussing with my flavors.

The best part about DIY, if the flavor doesn't taste right, you can always fix it !!

I've highlighted the items I use most often when mixing. the 3ml bottles are the most helpful for mixing small amounts. as far as the kit....sounds like a good combination of items, you may find you won't need some of it. but that part is up to you.

Currently I use 100mg/ml nicotine for mixing.....Keep in mind, Its is very toxic at this strength, then again 60mg/ml is nothing to get careless with either.

Most bases, flavorings etcs come in PG. for PG/VG mixes you need to take this into account.

I use the eliquid recipe manager for android on my phone. can help manage PG/VG rations, multiple flavorings etc.

These 2 links are for quart size PG and VG. you can buy it by the gallon(s) for cheaper, but it is way too much and will expire before you can use it. Before investing a ton in DIY, start small and see if you like it.

As you can tell, I love DIY. For me it started as a search for stronger flavors, as I am flavor challenged. I love the endless possibilities.
