You need to remove the wick first. Then fire it until the coil glows red. Before it cools compress the coils together perpendicular to the diameter. Squeezing the gaps closed. Each time you co this you should see the coil glow more even and eventually from the center out very even. Then rewick. Make sure not to compress or adjust with power on. Also, find a drill bit, screw driver, syringe tip etc to slide in and out to keep coils aligned.

Just be careful and patient at first.

First attempt building an RDA. Took about 5 minutes, not as easy as it looked in tutorials. 24 gauge single strand .4 ohm.

Surefire brushed knurled brass king is awesome. the lock ring operates on LARGE threads. Barely have to turn the sucker. It gets a little sticky locked in either position. Just enough not to spin of locked by accident. I can tighten them tight either way and undo it easily. I also use nyogel 760g, so that make it feel like a ball bearing. Kind of remind me of the stickiness you get from hardened titanium on hardened steel. Its a good sticky.

To get stuck unstuck, get a piece of leather and vice it down, grab the exposed with a wrapped around rubber band or grip rubber. If you are having sticking issues try some grease, but believe it or not, grease could make it worse. Grease allows threads to torque down even more due to less friction...

    Good luck!!

Drilling stainless is real easy. Just set your drill press to the lowest speed and use cutting fluid. Oh, an old trick that may be common knowledge is using gel flux as a cutting fluid beats out just about anything I have tried.

You can drill it with cheap bits. Until you start hitting steels hardened higher on the Rockwell C scale it shouldn't be a problem. A dull bit can cause heat quick though. Just sharpen them by hand. You have to make sure the shoulder behind the cutting edge is lower than the cutting edge.

    Hope this helps.

So this post is for Kayfun users. I have played with different resistance micro coils in the standard style I was taught and figured out the best wicking for each fluid.

I just tried a new way to attach my coil and run my wick. Heres a pic to show

    IMG_20140620_215139 by Richstag, on Flickr

Has anyone tried this way opposed to the slanted way like in this pic

Just made it and I centered it and tucked the wicks. I also found a neat way to get the coil as low to the air hole as possible. i just slide a tiny spacer under it and lower it down then remove the spacer. Leaves a very small gap and I can't mess it up as easily.

I was 220 a year ago when I started. I am 220 now. I actually started back at the gym a few months ago and have stayed at 220. Feel much better, very fit like I was just a couple years ago. But its not from vaping. Even when I was a heavy smoker I would mountain bike all the time and it never held me back. I could mountain bike 50 miles in a day without being winded. On the other hand, I feel stronger and healthier overall now. It has been a positive change for me.

    Spyke,

Why don't you start by posting up some pics of your coil build showing it in relation to the air hole. Also pics of your wick before and after it is saturated with juice. I can't help all that much if I don't know what you are working with.

I am sure there are tutorials and such but I just thought I would share how I found works for anyone just bumping along into this.

I have a short list of tools. Microfiber, q-tips, toothbrush, pipe cleaner, plastic cup, alcohol and 760g grease.

Take it all apart to bits and spray down with alcohol scrubbing with toothbrush. Let it all soak for a while in the alcohol.

Clean the inner threads of the switch and firing pin with the pipe cleaner. Give it all another good brushing then wipe it inside and out with the microfiber and again pipe cleaner. Then let it all set out to dry avoiding finger oils on the clean parts.

Then I get a nice pile of nyogel on the clean surface and apply to ALL threads, male and female, with the q-tip and again the pipe cleaner for those tiny inner threads of the switch and firing pin.

Put her all back together, spray it all down one last time with alcohol and wiper off.

Hitting so so smooth and strong.

Very happy with this set up so far.

Hope this may help some just dipping their feet into mech's.

There are calculators online to do these things for you but I would rather learn the simple equations and actually understand what is going on. Like you said its your face at risk...

My buddy took months to talk me into anything past a blu.

Just take it easy and don't listen to what everyone says. Not everyone in this hobby is well rounded. Im not saying on this forum, but in general. Make sure you are sure, not someone telling you about it.

Yesterday I got a very nice package from Fadora Vapor! Very nice packaging, presentation and especially the glass bottles.

I received a nice selection to try. I gave my buddy the apple cider and he cleaned out and reworked his kayfun. A very nice flavor. Mellow, smooth yet complex and flavorful. He likes it and I do too. It reminds me of a hot cider smell you get in the winter.

I built a new coil just for the watermelon.

    IMG_20140605_182353 by Richstag, on Flickr

I read that if you give a little space between your wraps it gives more surface area for the juice to cover on the coil. I gave it a try.

Made a medium wick since this juice seems thin like it would wick well but at 1.0 ohm it will need to wick pretty well.

I like the watermelon but just got to vaping it so I will give longer term impressions in the other section. I was surprised by the watermelon. I was expecting jolly rancher but its more of a natural watermelon flavor.

It tastes like a mix between real watermelon but candy-ish if that makes sense.

    Thanks Compenstine!

Oh, and very happy this fruity watermelon held up to the 1ohm coil. Running at 17.6watts on a fresh 18650.

This is why I bought one nice mech and a good tank system. I didn't want to mess with the hobby end of trying all 3,194 clones out there. I just wanted a sturdy reliable system that I could crank up when I needed to. When I kick cigs for a while, not just a week or two, I plan to step down. Then as I am getting really low I plan to divert my attention by carving a display case to set my mech in as I retire it along with my addiction to nicotine.

Im in this for my health.
