Same here. Using a smok Al85 Now a 220 watt alien. maybe it's just where I live and work it's mostly the younger crowd using the mods and building coils. We have a store here and every time I'm there I'm the oldest one in the place!

Thank you! And I do. People just look at me weird I think because I'm 45 and not some young hipster. This is the only thing that has helped me quit and stay quit this long!!

VapeMama reacted to Walt in Defending vaping over smoking
Yup, folks who do not vape have no interest and have only seen the shock headlines from the coke-a-cola salesmen. Seems like all of the media today use the tactics of the old Enquirer. "Man with three heads found in space ship on Iowa farm!" Something you just have to get used to. Congratulations on your 113 days!!!!
One old fart gave me the "Thems bad fer ya!" line. I told him, "I know! To late now. First week of vaping my balls fell off". He went away.

Hell I'm only 42 and forgot about it until someone told me it was happening. I went outside and said "Yup looks darker than it should be." Went in and went back to work. My wife says i need to be more personable to others.....

Lol, If I see that one I will be a cyborg or something. My OEM parts are showing significant wear.

VapeMama reacted to Earthling789 in Coil wattage best setting
Wattage is just the amount of power applied to the coil... Temp control limits the power applied by cutting the power once the desired temp is reached, then re-applying/balancing the power to the coil to maintain the desired temp.
In Temp Control mode, if you have the power set to 200W, and the temp only requires 50W, it will heat up fast (applying 200W), then turns the power off/on rapidly to maintain the temp. If you have it set at 50W, then the heat-up will be slower, but the controller will not have to pulse the power on/off to maintain the temp.
Does that make more sense?
In Wattage mode, the power you select (20W, 50W, 200W, etc) will be applied to the coil... and over-powering the coil will cause it to pop at worst, or burn up your coil/cotton at the very least. This is why I suggested you start low and use trial-and-error to find your sweet-spot. The same applies to TC mode... start at a low temp and adjust your temp higher and higher until you find the desired level. If it heats up too quickly, or you see the mod is having to work hard to maintain the temp, back off the Wattage. If you find raising your temp has no effect, then you may need to apply more wattage in order to reach that temp?
The stamps on the coils are just for reference... like a guideline, and make no difference whether in TC mode or Wattage mode. Most of those stamped ranges are determined using zero-nic and an unknown PG/VG ratio (or just arbitrarily given, based on the Ohm-rating of the coil), so they will not be definitive ranges for the juice YOU are using. Like I said, I have one coil that says 30W is the recommended low/minimum, but I find my juice is great at only 18W... 30W would burn it to a crisp! Another coil I regularly use says 15W-40W as the recommended range, and I've used it at 50W with a high VG juice for fantastic flavor and vapor...

Fidget spinners! They make great atty stands when you're not actually spinning them!

VapeMama reacted to Christopher in Almost at 0mg
When I first started vaping I used to vape 24mg. (This was before PV's became more efficient). Today the wifey mixed me up some 1.5mg and the next step will be 0mg. Figured I'd pat myself on the back. I mean it's been 8 years but better late than never right?

VapeMama reacted to Walt in Beginners nightmare....RDA vs subohm tank
Watch some reviews. DJlsb Vapes, Mike Vapes, Rip Trippers (over the top but knowledgeable), Grim Green, VapinFagan, to mention a few. For the most part the RDA you choose will depict how many coils to use. RDA's will work fine on your Alien. RDA's are also a great place to start building as they are very easy to wick. RTA's are finicky and take practice. Get familiar with this site: http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html It will help you design a coil. The RDA itself will also have a lot to do with what build you use per the amount of space on the build deck. Do a little research on Battery Mouch. He is da-man when it comes to choosing good batteries for a mod. 18650 batteries are not spec'd honestly by most manufacturers. It is good advice to understand ohm's law to understand how the resistance of your coils effect the mod. The relationship between wattage, voltage, amperage, and resistance is also good to understand.
There's a lot to learn if you so choose. Vaping can be a great hobby and as intricate or simple as you want to make it.

Hey Gadget,
Jeff broke it. Actually, we are having some issues with our open API that supports tapa talk and the Vapor Talk app. I hope to have this resolved as early as today. It's not you, it's us.

This is the one I've been waiting for- my first delve into drippers. My (clone) Apocalypto RDA. Loving it already.
Dual 3mm ID fused claptons - sitting pretty at about 60w. Blowing Juicewhore Mohito clouds and my own vanilla. Also got some prebuilt coils to have a play with some different builds I have no idea how to make yet lol and a pack of cotton bacon. Happy days.

VapeMama reacted to Christopher in Vape under .2Ω? Or just want to understand Batteries?
That's not unusual. Drama always fuels conversation. It's probably why Vapor Talk, at least compared to many other forums, is usually a little "quieter." Over the years, we always quickly shut down those types of posts. Debate of course is always fine but the rule is always "attack the topic and not the poster."

Thank You :D
Actually we are going to start auto posting "interesting" topics to Facebook and Twitter as a way to drum up more conversation within the forum. We have a ton of followers that hang out more on social media that on the forum so this helps draw them back into the forum.

VapeMama reacted to Chinis in Vape Juice Loses Flavor
Each 100mL bottle I buy lasts about a week to a week and a half. I filled my tank right up about an hour ago, vaped about half a mL, then topped it up again. The flavor (juicy fruit ) was delicious for about 2 pulls then died out. There is generally a slight taste, so I'm pretty sure it really is just the mix I have. Next time I plan on getting 50/50 or something like that
Also @Tam, not sure if you remember but you also helped me last year when I was clueless about buying a mod lol
Still using this iPower but the battery is a bit weak these days so I'm sure you'll be seeing another thread from me looking for mod suggestions!

VapeMama reacted to gadget in DIY Skins
I was bored today and the paint on one of my first mech was coming off.
I kept thinking about what to do with it and it came to me out of the blue!
I used to be into RC car and very truck competition and I had a bunch of decals so I went digging.
The decals they use are of real good quality and relatively inexpensive.
Here's what I came up with.

VapeMama got a reaction from Tam in Steep times
I use 'hot rice' for speed steeping. I fill a small to medium mixing bowl with uncooked rice and heat it in the microwave for a minute (yes 1 minute), Then push my bottle or bottles down in the rice up to the cap and cover with a dish towel for approximately 1-2 hours or until the rice is cool. I find it cuts off about 2 days steeping time with this method.
