Smoking meats like vaping is dependent on what you want, different people have different ways to do things.

If you are cooking at the proper temp (230-250) it will still be raw at 6 hours in the middle and about as tender as strap leather. This is my test. I stick a fork in one side then the other side. If the forks pick up the meat instead of tearing through its not done imo. If my temp gets above 240 then I spray my firebox to cool it back down, cooking at too high of a temp is about the worst thing you can do for a butt in my experience. In a  perfect world my temp will fluctuate between 225 and 230 for 20-22 hours. Its a pain to get up every two hours throughout the night to check the temp but necessary if you are as OCD as me about stuff being perfect lol.
Another thing I like to smoke is King Mackerel when I can get it fresh. Smoked fish dip on a cracker with a dab of Crystal Hot Sauce is hard to beat for an app!

I use "Stubbs" rib rub on my butts I spice up with more garlic, cayenne and salt and pepper. See the above post about my drip pan method I use it has won my old team several trophies lol. The main thing is constant temperature and giving it time to get the nice rings and bark on the outside. I do not injection baste at all and use only the rub and apple slices on the butt for additional flavor. I like to use Shiner Bock, apples, oranges and just about any fruit juice you like in my infusion drip pan.
In reality its all about the time and temperature. Even a completely unrubbed unseasoned butt will be awesome with the proper amount of smoke. Some people like to wrap theirs about 8 hours into cooking to not get it too smoky. I think that takes away from the bark (crust) that develops on the outside of the butt. I only use hickory or apple wood for smoke the first 7-8 hours of cooking then straight charcoal. Dont let the temp get above 250 or it will get tough and the bark will be too hard. I also cook the first 7-8 hours "skin side up" to allow the infusion from the drip pan to get into the meat I plan to eat PLUS it lets the rendered fat to drip down the meat sealing in your rub so when you flip it over to skin side down all you have to worry about is temp.

Cesar, you leaving is your choice, not ours.
That being said, and without taking this whole debacle into consideration (which I don't actually fault you for), I don't think I'm the only person you have rubbed the wrong way in these forums almost from the day you joined.  For me it was never about your grammar.  I can easily overlook that.  For me it was the way you continuously and consistently stated your opinion on various topics in a manner that made it sound like it was your way or the highway, like your opinion is the only correct opinion.  You never have seemed to grasp the concept that every vaper is unique.  Each of us has our own preferences in APV's or unregulated devices, each of us has our own preferences in tanks or RBA's, each of us has our own preferences in how much airflow we like, each of us has our own preferences in how warm or how cool we like our vaping experience to be, each of us has our own preferences in nicotine strength, each of us has our own preferences in flavors, each of us has our own preferences in PG/VG ratio.  Basically, each of us has our own "sweet spot", another concept you have never seemed to grasp, (if you have, it hasn't been apparent).
Speaking only for myself, I think many of your posts would have been better received if you simply added these four simple words to them: "my personal preference is...".
Good luck on those other forums.  If you think this one is full of "idiots" and the others aren't, you're in for a big surprise.

Exactly, especially when you use KPT single coils lol. The slightest drop in performance and I just toss it and pop a new one on. Last week my IStick somehow came unlocked and I took a big pull at 50w with my 1.8ohm coil and after I was done gagging, the coil had to be laid to rest. Fried that *****.

bcartervol98 got a reaction from cesar in How do you guys handle the craving for smoking.
I said on a Saturday that on Monday I was done and made the swap and really never had a problem. I think anyone trying to quit should use 24mg period and get a decent battery and tank (you can get great equipment for the cost of a couple cartons of smokes). Within a couple days I knew I would never have another cigarette and that was 4-23-13 and I haven't since.

With that said my wife is a couple months behind me because she kept an "emergency pack" in her car. Until she did away with that she never fully committed. With a few exceptions I would hazard to guess the vast majority of people will continue to smoke if you have them on hand. After about a month she finally got tired of it (and as I regained my smell and tastebuds and she did we both realized how disgusting we had smelled for so long) and gave them up alltogether.

About 3 months in to her and 4 in for me we traded Yukons and found a pack under the seat and laughed as we tossed it in the garbage. Its all there for you to quit but it takes three things

    1. Equipment good enough to transport a sufficient amount of vapor and nicotine
    2. Willingness and truly being ready to do it
    3. Liquid that you like AND has an appropriate level of nicotine to curb your cravings

    Best of luck!

Sweet-Vapes has been my hardware vendor for several years. I bought a Kanger Subox Mini Kit a few weeks ago for 25% off, and I'm loving it. I'm not a fan of their ejuice, though.

bcartervol98 got a reaction from cesar in New to Vaping. What to buy
Ok my thoughts. Keep away from the garbage starter kits. For the cost of 2 cartons of cigarettes you could buy a Starter kit with:
    2 Vision Spinner 2 1600mah batteries
2 Tanks (I prefer Aspire Davides or Kanger Pro Tanks without the Aero base but only use the single coils I will not buy any tank that will not use single coils)
1 Charger and wall adapter (I would buy an extra for $10-$12)
    Case
Then as far as liquids go you will have to experiment. I actually agree with one thing Cesar said. I would probably not been successful had I not found a tobacco flavor that did a good enough job of mimicking an analog. For me that was Sweet-Vapes Traditional Tobacco. Most vapers I know started that way BUT at the 3-6 month time frame when their tastebuds started to heal the taste of tobacco starts to be a turn off and then they start exploring other flavors. I went from 80pg-20vg 24mg Tobacco to a Max VG Strawberry Lemonade blend in 18mg that I still use exclusively today. My wife from day 1 has used 24mg 80pg-20vg ECBlends Peppermint and only recently dropped to 18mg. I see us both being at 18mg the rest of the time we vape.
As far as suppliers go I use 3 only and have never gotten anything but great service!:
    Equipment: sweet-vapes.com
    Liquids: fuzionvapor.com and ecblendsflavors.com

Tried dripping, too high maintenance for me. Reminded me of my ex wife. I need ease of  "Fill,Charge,Vape" ....like my current wife of 14 years. Beautiful, it just works and very low maintenance. Well, as long as she gets everything she wants (which she does) LOL

I cannot even list all the backups I have at this point especially now that we switched to the IStick 50w. Probably 15 assorted Spinner and Spinner 2s with a half dozen chargers and all worts, I buy coils by the 50 pack (when I open the new 50 pack I order another) and when I get down to 125ml of my flavor I order another 250ml. I keep 2 backup batteries, a tank, a bottle of liquid and a charger on the boat, 2 backups, a tank, bottle of liquid and a charger at work and the rest are at home. I want to keep a backup kit in my car but it just gets too hot and that concerns me.

I am sure it is not a secret to anyone not living under a rock that an Islamic jihadist murdered 4 Marines and seriously injured a Naval Officer, a police officer and another Marine yesterday only about 75 miles from my home. Maybe this should be in "Rants" but since its news I am gonna post it here and throw a couple talking points out there.
First what is it in the human condition that could make someone do this? Was it truly "for their religion" or was it something different? I mean in their religion they gain rewards in heaven for the act of killing infidels right? Is that just rhetoric or true? I am not very religious at all and do not understand. Is it mental illness and religion is just a scapegoat? I mean when the guy shot up the Church in South Carolina and the kid in Colorado in the movie theater and I never heard about their religion.
Now I will say what I think the answer is to the above, First I think that 99% of Muslims in America are peace loving people chasing the same dream we all are. Lets talk about the 1% though whom I will refer to as extremists. It is obvious that the extremists see their destiny to be the destruction of freedom and the American dream of true freedom. What they fail to realize is event after event like this only hurts the 99% that are peace loving because lets be frank, we know our enemy is not named "Steve" or "John". Events in the last few years have made me turn my back on my total disdain for profiling to a certain extent. There were signs ignored about this killer and if we have the surveillance capabilities we tout ourselves to have there is no reason he was not at least on the radar after seeing some of his social media and Islamic Extremist blog.
I think these terror groups will prey on others like him, those that have never been in trouble for anything but are looking for meaning and may be depressed or even suicidal and shower them with promises of a better afterlife. Its really kind of scary because I do not think this will be an isolated incident not repeated. The Fort Hood shooting that is still classified as "workplace violence" even though Hassad was yelling Alla Akbar as he was killing US Soldiers on US Soil it is not classified as domestic terrorism and even this federal government says a domestic terror plot is discovered and thwarted an average of every 33 days or something close to that.
The last point I will make about this are these damn "Gun Free Zones". WTF is that about? Do these supposedly intelligent people somehow think men and women in uniform that are trained to handle a weapon should not have one? To me a "Gun Free Zone" is like a HUGE neon sign that says "Hello, welcome, we cannot defend ourselves".
I have tried to support President Obama and his administration since voting for him in 2008 but have steadily lost confidence over the last 7 years and if he wants to do the right thing in the wake of this event, then IMMEDIATELY issue an executive order lifting the Gun Free Zones when dealing with our military bases, recruitment offices and schools. Let those trained to protect us protect themselves.
For any Marines or any other soldier out there I shed a tear for you today.

The "sweet spot" refers to your preferred power settings paired with a certain atomizer resistance. My "sweet spot" for the equipment and single flavor I use is 7.5w @1.8ohms = 3.8v. Every liquid has a sweet spot that is usually found by dialing the power up until you get a slight burned taste then power down a click or two and viola!

The 2nd Amendment was put in place so we could protect ourselves, and our freedom. It seems like the only people that are allowed the right to keep and bear arms are the nut cases, and the religious fanatics. People refer to the wild west as a violent time in our history, but in fact there was less crime then. When law abiding people are armed the criminals think twice. I never hear about shootings at a NRA convention or any place else where people are armed. Almost always in a so called gun free zone. I will not enter a store that has a gun free zone sign posted, plenty of other places to do business.

Well its a double edged sword but this will be one of the good things that come out of FDA regulation. There will be no more hiding what is in the liquid. I buy all mine from just two suppliers I know and trust what is in there but it should be universal.
