From what I understand it's longer with longer carts. Which of course = longer cart life. Yes it should work with normal 510 batteries as I believe it's the same fitting.

I believe the same as above.

Yes they should work fine with any 510 battery although I would imagine because the resistance is lower it would suck up battery life a bit faster. The point of low res atties is to give a "5 volt feel" while using a 3.6 volt battery. (Get's hotter faster)

I'll forward this thread over to Word Up to make sure.

I'm a former Kool full flavor smoker (as well as Newports on occasion), and had difficulty finding a satisfying juice. Since you're a heavy smoker, you'll probably want a super-high nicotine fluid. The best I've found to satisfy my nicotine/menthol/throat hit need is Tasty Vapor's Tobacco Menthol in 48mg strength. It's absolutely superb. He only sells in 1 fluid ounce sizes, so if you don't like it you'll throw away a lot of juice, but it's cheap at $15 per oz. I really can't see any heavy menthol smoker not finding it satisfactory.

So far this is turning into a fantastic topic and I'm going to pin this thread.

@Kmel there is absolutely zero scientific proof that nicotine alone causes cancer. None. I've looked. In fact the benefits seem to be of positive nature rather than negative. That said however California requires that stupid statement and although the state as not specifically contacted us about the use of nicotine in our liquid, it was suggest that we place the warning and hope the users are smart enough to see past the warning. I believe the warning was tied in to the use of traditional tobacco products used in apartments and business. I believe it has become outdated as it refers to cigarette use and not the use of nicotine/ecigs. However the way the law is written is applies to anything containing nicotine. I'm on the fence about removing the statement. Especially in the VT store. It's more than counterproductive.

If Vapor Talk ever builds enough capital I've actually thought about going up against the state about it. Who wants to open Pandoras box with me?

    Chris,

Thanks so much for getting this information out. As a New Yorker, I had no idea these bills were pending until I read your post.

I have contacted both my Assemblyman and my Senator and told them to vote against these bills.

Keep up the good work, Chris!

Alright Vapor Talkers and Vapors from around the country (and world for that matter) Once again your right to vape is slippping away. We've got 3 choices.

    1. Hope someone else magically fixes this problem.

    2. Hope it doesn't effect your state and someone how you'll be lucky (don't count on it)

    3. Time to start kicking *** and taking names the good old american way.

The following states currently have bills pending to ban the sales of Electronic Cigarettes. Here are some things you NEED to do in order to stop this mess. We did it during the last California attempt to ban we need to do it again!

    1. Find out who your Senator is and who your "House" representative is. (Titles vary from state to state. Examples include Representative, Assembly member, Delegate).

    2. Phone their offices and/or send a letter by snail mail. Seriously members call the Vapor Talk line all day long do the same only this time with your senators. Do it at work, do it in the car, call call call and demand a responce.

    3. Tell your story about how e-cigarettes have helped you and tell them that you oppose ### (where ### equals the official bill designation) because it would make the sale of the products illegal.

    4. Point out that thousands of citizens would be forced to relapse to smoking.

Even if you dont' live in the state try to get your word out, we all need to help each other! This could go wide spread VERY quickly. It looks like this time they are coming down quick and heavy.

Currently there are bills in the following states CA, IL, MD, and NY. If your aware of any other states post back here and on any other electornic cigarette forum. We need to band togeather on this.

You may be new to the forums and wonder "hmm this forum has a store, can I talk about other suppliers products?" And the answer is absolutely!

We are first and foremost an electronic cigarette forum. Please don't ever feel you are limited to only the products in our store. We welcome you to openly talk about any model ecig or e liquid on the market. So please post without fear of repercussion.

I swear, legislators and anti-smoking people are about the dumbest, most dedicatedly ignorant bunch of dimwits ever! "2009 Tobacco Control Progress Report" indeed. In it, these people who think they're smart but are anything but, convince themselves that reduced tobacco sales means people are smoking less. WTH?!

As the generally much more intelligent commenters pointed out, everyone's just buying their cigarettes online or in neighboring states. Kids haven't shown the same tobacco use reduction as adults because - guess what? - kids don't have credit cards to order online or the freedom to drive to Nebraska to buy smokes.

I really, REALLY disrespect self-serving fools who claim to know something because they made it up. I posted this here because it doesn't have anything to do with vaping; just the typical willfully ignorant prohibition mindset. Well, and I'm at work and can't really blow off much steam here.

Yea the 304's and 302's will leak quite a bit, blowing them out every week or so will really help. To be honest when I use the penstyle atomizers I'll pop on a cart, especially with the 302's. You pretty much have to vape whatever liquid is inside you can't leave it sitting or it will leak. Try adding a cart and see how that helps

The unit is safe because it cuts off. A custom modification usually has minor circuitry inside if any at all, it's a "dumb unit" so it needs to use protected batteries in the event they are ever discharged to fast. (Which usually only happens if it's pulling more amps than the batteries can handle) The Janty stick however has a cut off, it has circuitry in side which will stop it from discharging to low. The 510 battery does the same thing, when it starts to blink, thats the protection mode kicking in

Oh is that right Tinker? Silabo creates their version of the Joye 510 atomizers and they're total crap, (Although not all suppliers will admit to it publicly they will in the private forum) they contain a washer inside of the atomizer (The easy way to tell them apart). The Joye 510 atomizers do not contain a washer. Sure anything from China always has a failure rate but the performance from a Joye 510 far exceeds that of an SLB atomizer, the same goes for quality. Heck just look at all the problems the SLB batteries have, IE batteries staying on even when the button is depressed and this is a constant issue as of late, one that you won't find with Joye Tech. SLB products have a filaure rate upwards of 40% Joye tech is much much lower.

Calling it an "Urban Myth" is calling me a liar, not something I appreciate in my forum.

Agree 110% - I respect everyone else's choice to choose to believe that xploding battery story or to discard it as merely something else. Me personally tho I don't feel comfortable using any battery that is 'Unprotected' & I try to make sure any battery I use atleast looks authentic. I've done web searches for certain style batteries and with some of em they look as real as a bought bootleg DVD off the street. Regardless if that story is true or not I seriously think Vaprlife did the right thing. TBH I do believe they are the only ones who seemed to do the right thing. Not to knock anybody else but they still sell the same Mods that use the only battery I know of that has exploded, the CR2. That story could very well be a hoax but..... my money will not be spent on anything that turns me into a possible Explosion Test Dummy. And seriously the thing that bothers me the most bout all this is the fact there are ppl out there buying these CR2 powered Mods, that may or may not be dangerous, thinking they are guaranteed to be safe. If I didn't learn that 'Protected' Batteries exist just recently or ran across that TotallyWicked thread .....I coulda been one of those ppl. A possible candidate to be the next Test Dummy... If you know the possible danger and still buy, thats your choice. But atleast inform me so I'm not unaware and allow me to be an educated consumer BEFORE I make my purchase. I don't wanna find out the truth the hard way...

I've spoke of this plenty enough on ECF & here.... I'll stop now.

I'm not an engineer, nor an expert on batteries and atomizers, but here is my theory:

The e-cig is essentially three parts: battery, atomizer and cartridge. While different makes may use the same atomizer, that is 1/3 of the story. The cartridge is not going to be much of a factor, other than the wicking quality of the fill. If the user direct drips, it's not going to matter at all. That leaves the battery. At the same voltage, there will still be performance differences. Not all batteries of the same voltage maintain a consistent flow of power throughout the duration of the charge. For instance, I noticed immediately that the 510 mega battery seems to perform consistently from start to end of the charge. While the regular battery seems to fall off quite a bit as the charge falls, in terms of vapor production.

My observations on the 510 are purely anecdotal, and may be my own perception. But from other applications, such as flashlights, I know there is a huge difference in performance from brand to brand, even when the same basic characteristics of the battery remains the same.

BigXor really hit the nail on the head here. The one and only reason we decided to carry the VP units in the store was the safety. At the time nobody had really thought about it but us. We knew some day this would happen. Which is why we have never carried any other custom unit.

When Jeso first created the VP units he was one of the first mod creators to use protected batteries. He also designed the units to turn only 1 1/2 threads. So in the event that a user with a death wish decided to either A. Use none protected batteries or B. Mix and match charged and uncharged batteries, there would be room for the gas to go, in this case through the bottom of the unit. Now of course this wasn't advertised because some nut job would give it a try. Just because you have an air bag doesn't mean you should crash your car into a wall.

It would scare the heck out of you but you'd probably be ok. Another issue is the way modders place the atomizer fitting into the unit, most press the fitting into the unit. What does this mean? It means it won't handle much pressure, when a battery heats and expends and finally blows, guess where the pressure goes? You got it, right out the atomizer fitting. In this case it was the BB. While out in New York we pulled out about 40 units and placed them on the table and the first thing was said was, well, these are all pipe bombs just waiting to blow. We couldn't believe nobody anticipated this issue. Of course those with the knowledge like Bogxor warned of this but nobody listened.

In the VP units case the fitting is of a threaded design, not pressed into aluminum.

@kato07 - Exploding wouldn't be an issue for the VP passthrough because it's a straight passthrough, there is no battery inside the unit.

So next time you decided to buy a unit because it's the "new" thing, make sure you keep in mind some of the saftey users. Ask the modder "what have you done to make this safe" any good suppliers or modder should give you direct answers about what they've done. We have answerd this question a few times. If they beat around the bush, ditch buying the unit, it's just not worth it.
