was in Louisville Ky. this past weekend and vaping like a nic. addicted chimp in my hotel room when the alarms went off. Turns out it wasn't me...kitchen fire, but freaked momentarily especially after initialing the portion of my check-in paperwork that stated there was a $250 fee for smoking in your room. Was totally ready to deny all culpability, but was very relieved that it turned out that it was only that the building was on fire!!!

I am working on my Masters degree in nursing - ultimate goal, to be a nurse practitioner - after 20 years an an RN. In my Policies in Healthcare class, we are asked to choose a health policy issue on which we feel passionate, review the legislature in place or proposed, and discuss it as it relates to overall health policy. In other words, how does this regulation apply to a health problem.

Guess which topic I am taking on?

Yessssss - the proposed ban on e-cigarettes.

Even my own priomary care provider (also a nurse practitioner) is a big proponent of e-cigs after seeing ME quit smoking after she tried to help me quit countless different ways. In fact, she, as a former smoker, wants one to vape 0 nic juices because "she really misses it".

So - wish me luck. I'm hoping that out of this project I gain information I can share with everyone about how to effectively influence policy. This is still a democracy, damn it!

I kept hearing that radio commercial for the "smoke assassin" so I started searching on-line. Spent a few days searching those big commercial sites (that's all I was seeing with searches, Smoking Everywhere, Smoke 51, Blu, etc). One term I kept seeing over an over was "vapor", so I search for "vapor cigarette" and that's when I found Vapor Talk. That was the end of it... the fine folks here hooked me right up and I've been happily vaping ever since.

If you're hearing a sizzle, that's a good sign. I would check the package like Chris said just to make sure they are prefilled. If they are, try another one to see if it does the same thing.

Unlike a cigarette, you want to take a longer slow drag from your ecig. This is a concept I had issues with when I started, but you want to take a gentle draw, don't pull on it like you would with a regular cig.

I'm just sort of glanced over this post but what exactly is your budget?

I agree I would go directly to the source that's what I do. Most people don't realize, but most Alienwares are actually Asus machines. (The lighted keyboard gives it away) Dell (who now owns Alienware) purchases them in bulk from Asus, (as well as other manufactures) brands them, then rapes your soul with the cost.

There are actually only a few manufactures that create laptops - Compal, Quanta, GVC, Clevo and Asus. Asus stands out because they actually sell their own product. This is unusual for a wholesale manufacture but sweet for the consumer.

I have the G73 (I need the power on the go obviously) but Asus laptops are NOT expensive. I'm guessing your looking at the Gaming line. Asus creates "lower" end laptops that are very close to spec. The main difference between "gaming" laptops and standard laptops is the dedicated video card. Most laptops use integrated video (shares the system ram) whereas a gaming machine will usually use a custom dedicated video card with it's own memory.

If you tell me your budget I might be able to find a decent machine for you.

    the entire bottle is 24mg

thats 2.4mg of nic per ML

you cant take that as a factor when thinking how much to vape to = a cig.

No, that's not correct. E Liquid strengths are measured per ML. A 10ml bottle that is 24mg in strength contains 24mg per milliliter. You get about 1MG of nicotine per analog usually; but, this depends on the analog.

If you're using 1ML a day at 24MG that's equal to 24 analogs. I go through about 3ML a day at 16MG (16MG x 3ML=48MG/analogs). I was only smoking 3/4 a pack of analogs a day so my intake of Nicotine is way higher with an eCig than it was with analogs.

Furthermore, it doesn't matter how much liquid is in a bottle, the strength is not dependent upon volume. That also means a 10ML bottle of 24mg juice would have 240mg of nicotine in it (24MG x 10ML). Likewise, a 30ml bottle of 24mg e-liquid would have 720mg of nicotine in it (24mg x 30ml).

I know in my first year I spent much more on vaping than I would have on smoking. However, I've also accumulated enough stuff to last me for years. I could probably to 3 years without buying anything if I had to.

Welcome to Vapor Talk! Cignot is a good supplier with an excellent reputation and great customer service - I've ordered from them a few times. If I recall correctly, a cart will hold about 10-12 drops of eliquid. Typically, that won't last very long, but if you're a lighter smoker (during the week) you may be quite happy with it. You may want to get some cartomizers. That's one piece attomizer that will hold about 30 drops. I would say that would last you a fairly long time and would be ideal for what you're describing.

You can buy some 24mg Midnight and mix it 50/50 to get 12mg. Since you like the flavor, this is probably the best option.

Or, you can buy some nic and add it to the eliquid, but that will dilute the taste. You can get some 48mg nic and mix it 1 part nic to 2 part eliqid to get 16mg.

Using 36mg nic mixed 1 part nic to 2 part eliquid would give you 12mg. In both cases you're using 33% unflavored nic, so that's going to reduce the flavor quite a bit.

Deep end? What's that? This makes no sense to me.

Nothing wrong with have 70+ attys, two eGo kits, 10 or so mods, tons of batteries (18650s, RCR123As, 14500), a plethora of drip tips and a two year supply of nic. Nope, nothing wrong with that at all.

My guess would be: Ripple, yours is too dry, need to add a drop to the atty and top off your cart more often. Troopx yours sounds too wet and at the verge of gurgeling. Blow out the atty onto a kleenex and then add just 1 or 2 drops onto the atty and see if that improves the vapor.

There's always a fine line between too dry and too wet...

Agave nectar is a natural sweetener. All about Agave Nectar

You should be able to find it in your grocery store. If it is not with the other sweeteners, ie sugar and splenda, then look for it with the honey and syrup.

I think that the reason you see so many warnings out there about not using oil based flavorings is to keep newbie DIYers from trashing every atty they own before they realize they are in over their heads.

That statement was by no means meant to be derogatory, but a simple statement of fact.
At one time we were all newbie DIYers, and I'm sure most of us can remember some colossal failures in those early stages.

The fact is, with proper technique, using oil based flavorings are actually quite effective.

But you see posts all the time in DIY forums of folks talking about flavoring an ejuice at 25, 30, and even 40% flavorings. Doing this with an oil based flavoring is going to send you straight to your preferred atomizer supplier for a rush order of replacements.

Since a lot of beginning DIYers aren't even aware of the difference, it's easy to see why it quickly became common to say, don't use oils, they are bad. Many helpless atomizers were sacrificed as the price of the lack of knowledge, understanding, and technique. And oil based flavoring became the scape goat for those poor departed atomizers.

The trick in using oil based flavorings is in using much lower concentrations, typically starting at 1%, (some oils less, some oils more), and pre-mixing the oils with Food grade alcohol or PGA to help with dispersal.

And while it may be true that long term use of oils will slowly degrade the performance of your atomizer, if you have a good effective cleaning method/routine, even this can be kept to a minimum.

And yes, you may have to give them a good shake if they have been sitting for a while, but you already do that with ALL of your ejuice, right?

Brian - I'll post a basic tangerine recipe over in the DIY Recipes thread for you to try with that tangerine oil!

Menthol is over all one of the strongest flavors and throat hit. many 0 nic liquids lack throat hit. There are a few options and a bit of trial and error.
    1. Can try adding some menthol to your existing flavor. The menthol will add some throat hit and enhances the flavor a bit. With Menthol-a little goes a long way.
    2. add flavoring to your current flavor. Loranns candy flavoring My link--concentrated flavoring. The flavors have been used with varying degrees of success. I like the raspberry, watermelon, cotton candy, champagne, english toffee and pina colada.
Flavourart- My link. I have had better luck with this brand. not as concentrated, but like the flavors a bit better. The arctic menthol is great for that extra kick.
    3. DIY flavorshack My link.
    4. Ms. T's Bakery My link.

finding the right flavors can be a bit of a challenge.
Others will chime in with more suggestions.
